300k is asking way too much. Album sales are too low. No album released this year has hit 300k yet and we are almost half way through the year. I think 100k+ will be seen as a big triumph for them at this point. I think it could sell anything between 50 - 150k.

I don't think 200k is too much as long as the campaign can last long. But if they bail on the album after a single charting at #9 (COUGH* Ego *COUGH), then 100k will be imminent

300k would be nice but it certainly is impossible, for sure. I wouldn't worry about the length of the album campaign considering LFTW lasted two years
I'll just be happy to see it sell more the the last two albums to be honest. Anything more is just a bonus. If the lead single is a hit I can see them probably outselling LFTW's sales within 2 weeks - they'll probably manage 10k in pre-orders with the tour bundle and any other versions they end up offering.

Thing is The Saturdays don't cost too much to produce and to promote apparently. At least, not so much that they can't pay back the labels with their endorsements...

But that's the thing, I don't think the label makes any money. I mean just look at their recent sales, then think of all the budget that goes into hair dressers, make up artists, stylists, clothes, photoshoots, plane tickets, PR, A&R, managers, and then think of all the music recording (studio time) and the budget that goes into the promotion... The music doesn't even begin to cover for this. What does, though, is their deals and endorsements (and well gigs and everything). However, they are having less and less of these. Don't get me wrong, they probably aren't in any sort of debt or whatever, but it does feel like they bring absolutely no money to the label, they just afford to pay back everything at the end of the day.

So obviously, I guess it's fine as long as there's no loss of money, but how long can a label want to promote and pay for an act that doesn't make you lose any money but doesn't bring you some either? It seems like it's been like this for years, not just now, so it's not like the label hasn't given the girls second chances.

Anyway, my point is...The label is definitely aiming for some money this time. Whether it is 150k, 200k or 300k (lol), they have to bring some money back to the label. 100k might be enough for us considering their 3/5 of their albums haven't sold that much, but it really is poor no matter what. That being said, this Greatest Hits definitely cost a lot less than an actual album, so maybe we can aim for something more modest as 100k. I don't know.

I just said it would be nice if they sold it, won't happen though

What if this Mr Postman track is one of three new tracks?!

It wont be, they will have been asked to record it for the film, nothing else

How can you say 100k would be poor at this point? I'd say 100k would be fine for an album that's been released after two flops. In all honesty it's the labels fault that the albums etc have fallen. The last two albums have been full of throw away EDM which isn't good for the band at all. Clearly WAU is the exception to that rule but two albums full of EDM out of two albums flopped. Time to switch it back to the ORIGINAL Saturdays sound!

Financially, there are very few direct benefits from album and single sales. That's not where the money is made. Those sales do, however, represent the size of the fan base and the popularity of the artist which typically translates into endorsement deals and ticket sales. That's where the real money is made. Ultimately, as long as this tour does decently well, they will likely earn back everything they've spent over the past 1-2 years and then some.

The tour should be okay if they whack out good promo and have appealing merchandise. Can we not have these please? (as modeled by the queen )

I agree. Things are very different for albums these days. Albums that have gone number 1/2 this year are struggling to go gold. It's that bad. 100k would be very impressive for The Saturdays at this point.

Hurricane said 100K would be poor NOT in context of The Saturdays though.

100k isn't poor in any context though. Albums going gold didn't use to be a massive deal, but it's celebrated a little bit more these past couple of years because album sales are so low.

I'm hoping this goes well, if the album does well, then the single sales will get a nice boost... the tour and new single should help that too!
Whilst I'm over here in LA I'm helping write and record some possible songs for The Saturdays Greatest Hits album. I'm about to go into the studio here, pretty excited for what's to come!

Looks like The Jam are gonna be involved in this release. :(

I don't like the stuff they do with The Jam, would go as far to say Anywhere With You and Don't Let Me Dance Alone are two of my worst Sats songs. PLEASE NO JAM SONGS ON THIS ALBUM!

Living For The Weekend lasted about two weeks on my iTunes before I got rid of it. I only kept What About Us, Disco Love, Not Giving Up and Lease My Love. The Jam tracks were seriously awful, I agree they were my least favourite Saturdays songs EVER.

As long as the lead single isn't by The Jam then I'm not gonna worry too much...

Totto just posted in the ChasInc thread, she's working with The Writing Camp.

Also, Don't Let Me Dance Alone is a jam!..................No pun intended.
