>> Kicking off the top 10 with an average score of a perfect 8, we have the unplugged version of their hit single 'DNA'. The unplugged version of this song can be found on the deluxe version of the album with the same name. It's a really nice and beautiful take on the song and they all sound brilliant on it. It's not quite the moment the parent song is, but as far as unplugged and acoustic versions go, this is one of my favourites. Not quite sure it deserves top 10 over some of what's been personally, but I can see why it is loved. <<

>> And next we have 'Little Me' which was the 2nd single from their sophomore album. It was an obvious safe and predictable single choice, that majority of us thought would be an "easy top 10", but it struggled and peaked at #14. It's the most radio friendly single they'd released to date and I was a little shocked it didn't get a top 10 peak, but maybe it was too safe and too predictable that people just thought "meh". A lovely meaning within the song, but I am getting slightly bored of these "be who you want to be" cliched songs. <<

>> At number 8 and winning the tie with number 9 we have the T-Boz featured, 'Red Planet' from their debut album 'DNA'. This song is basically the perfect mix of both their best performances from X Factor, 'Don't Let Go' & 'E.T.'. They captured those sounds perfectly and listening to it now as I'm writing this, I'm thinking I gave it a low score. It's absolutely brilliant and would have been a brilliant single choice at some point. I don't know how they managed to get a member of TLC to feature so early on in their career, but this will be one that sticks out in the future (if it doesn't already) as one of the biggest "Why did they not release this as a single?!!!???!?!??" <<

>> Number 7 we have the stunningly beautiful and gorgeous ballad, 'These Four Walls'. This is a song that features on their second album 'Salute'. Every performance I've seen of this song has been nothing short of breathtaking. So raw, emotional and powerful. Apparently, the song was recorded as they wrote it and was recorded on little cassette type things! Really adds to the track I feel. Definitely my second favourite song from them, behind 'Towers'. <<

>> So at number 6 and missing out on entering the top 5 is one of the US instant grat tracks from their 'Salute' album (therefore a song that reached top 20 at least on iTunes over there!), 'Nothing Feels Like You'. A song that is about being happy in a relationship and being happy with the guy that you're with. A great song that is packed full of attitude and a crazily infectious hook. One that I could DEFINITELY see working as a single if they were to drag out the campaign for 5 or 6 singles, but they won't, unfortunately. :( <<

I really love 'Nothing Feels Like You', although personally for me, it wasn't one that hit me immediately, but like you say it's completely infectious. Shocked that Towers has ended above These Four Walls, but I'm glad cos it is the better of the 2 ballads for me.

>> Kicking off the top 5 is the title track from their second and most recent album, 'Salute'. This is arguably the universally liked "fan favourite". It's a very catchy, hook driven song that you can quite clearly hear will become a hit. It has most recently been announced that it is the 3rd single from the album and only time will tell whether it will be the big hit we all seem to think it will be or whether it'll "do a 'Little Me'" and become a flop, despite us thinking it'd be a "safe hit" or whatever. I definitely agree with it's position inside the top 5 here, so well done on that one BJ, although I'm surprised it's NOT the highest album track (at time of rating) from that album :o <<

>> At number 4 and proudly featuring as the highest album track of all of them we have 'Towers'. The major, power ballad from 'Salute'. Very pleaseed to see this song prevail and become the highest album track in this rate. It's exactly how you do a big, anthemic power ballad in this day and age and complete with the cliched, big X Factor like choir towards the end of the song, sees it would lend itself so perfectly to a performance on the X Factor if they were to promote it. Such a gorgeous song and very pleased to see it reach the top 5 and very nearly top 3! <<

So beautiful and so different from Mumford's original. I know many people prefer their other Live Lounge cover, but this is my favourite. It should also bury any statements saying "Leigh-Anne can't sing" etc.. when she was one of the strongest in this performance.

>> The song that TRULY started it all for Little Mix finishes the rate in 3rd position. This song was as instant as you could possibly want in a lead single from a winning X Factor act. This was a very nice and refreshing song for a winning X Factor act to lead with, something that wasn't predictable and was just a genuinely good pop song, in it's own right. Only happened once before for me with Alexandra Burke's 'Bad Boys' ('Bleeding Love' is truly phenomenal, but it was predictable). >> So there we have it. 'Move' is the victor of the Ultimate Little Mix rate! It received tough competition from it's runner up, 'DNA', but managed to fight it off in the end. 'DNA' was the second single from their debut album and served as the lead single to the album! It's one of the best singles to come from an XF act (winner or not) and went on to be a top 3 hit for them. The fall following that week was a disaster though as it fell out the top 10, to number 12 or something. Which is a shame as it's as close to a "perfect pop song" as you're likely to get, imo.

 

'Move' served as the lead single for their 2nd album 'Salute' and went on to do a lot better than we had anticipated it would do. It took a bit of getting used to, although for me it was never particularly "bad", it just wasn't what I was expecting. But as soon as I accepted that, that's it. I'm hooked. It was one of those risks that paid off, massively and deservedly. Had it never paid off, I dread to think where we'd be at now. It does make you wonder though, they seem to get their biggest hits the less safe they are. So I have hopes that 'Salute' will be a decent sized hit at least. <<

So happy about the winner, 'Move' is by far their best imo. Shocked Salute wasn't a little higher, but good top 3 anyway. The video for DNA ruins my love for it a bit, I really had wished they released it in the US with a new video.
