I bet the longest run is from 2000.

I think you're right there, there were 12 one-weekers in a row, said songs being, in order, 'You See the Trouble With Me', 'Spinning Around', 'The Real Slim Shady', 'Breathless', 'Life Is a Rollercoaster', 'We Will Rock You', '7 Days', 'Rock DJ', 'I Turn To You', 'Groovejet (If This Ain't Love)', 'Music' and 'Take On Me'.

'Lady (Hear Me Tonight)' broke the run by spending 2 weeks at #1.

2005 isn't far behind though, with 11 ('Against All Odds' up to 'All About You/You've Got A Friend' with 'Is This The Way To Amarillo?' breaking it by spending 7 weeks at #1). The Elvis reissues definitely helped out here.

The common factor(s) seem to be extreme front-loading and/or low sales.

Well it's kind of obvious that 1 week #1s and extreme frontloading are linked?

Also I'm not sure you can really count the current streak in the same way as 2000 / 2005 / 2011, as one of the earlier 'one-weekers' was the 4th week at #1 for 'Happy'. I suppose you could say 2014 might beat the 2000 record for most consecutive weeks with a change in the #1 though.

New Releases:

1. Kiesza- Hideaway

3 & 284. Shift K3Y- Touch

19 & 355 & 407 & 502 & 581. Elyar Fox- A Billion Girls

26. Showtek & Justin Prime ft Matthew Koma- Cannonball (Earthquake)

25 & 94. Meridian Dan ft Big H & JME- German Whip

236 & 467 & 1294. Kelis- Rumble

318. Darlia- Candyman

615. 50 Cent- Hustler

It's the predictability that gets on my nerves. I wish sales at the top were closer so that some genuine chart battles could take place.

Now that Tiësto remix of 'All Of Me' has been playlisted by Capital it could continue to climb and keep the song in the top 10 for a long time to come. Seems it is this year's 'Let Her Go'.

I don't know why it climbed from the Top 30 in the first place.

Same, it's boringggg

No, I don't mean it like that. What was the reason for it climbing in the first place?

I think he performed it on a TV show, can't remember which one though. And it's not boring, it's a lovely song.

It was lifted into the top 10 by being used on Dancing On Ice, having originally entered the chart after a chat show performance. It's actually kinda surprising how long it's stayed in the top 10 considering R1 never playlisted it and Capital only just have (and even then only a remix). Outside the top 10 on radio airplay as well so it's not exactly getting hammered by other stations.

Is it me or does Calvin Harris new track seems likely going to peak at #2 with its pre-order at #62

It is the most played song on the Heart network at the moment, which isn't surprising.

I think you may be right, if it was heading for #1 it'd surely be top 40 on iTunes by now. Could see it getting stuck behind Mr. Probz.

Fun fact - Summer would be Calvin's 5th #2 single if it got there, this would tie the record for most #2s for a dance act (currently held by Sash!)

who actually has the most #2 hits? I generally just assumed Sash! but then I guess it's probably a major artist who just happens to have hit #2 a lot alongside their #1 tally (like Calvin Harris :P)

Madonna and Kylie Minogue with 11 #2 hits. (Madonna has 12 if you count both releases of 'Crazy For You')

Oh, that's slightly more than I was expecting  Thanks!

'Under Control' never really did a lot better than 'Summer' has on pre-orders (and admittedly got to #1 on relatively low sales as a result), so unless Mr Probz has very high second week sales I think Calvin should still be able to get there pretty easily.
