Rihanna is set to star in the new Dreamworks film 'Home', which is in cinemas from March 2015, alongside Jennifer Lopez who will voice her character's mother. Rihanna will provide the voice for Tip, a young girl who manages to avoid being abductee after an alien invasion and goes on the run with a banished member of the alien race.

In addition, Rihanna will release a concept album alongside the film which is said to be "historical", it's unclear whether this is her next album but the following has been said:

The cast & crew of 'Home' aim to bring two massive industries (film & music) together as one big production, introducing audiences to a new & innovative experience.

With huge recording artists on the cast list it is almost necessary to have a musical aspect to the film feature. The concept album is not a general soundtrack, but a studio record with Rihanna on the bandwagon, and with her chart-dominating ways, it is only expected for the crew, Rihanna & her world class songwriting creative team to pull off an album that is almost expected to perform exceptionally on the charts, radios & other music platforms. It is not one, two or three songs but an entire collection that maintains a theme & unified story. This is what really sets 'Home' apart. It is also necessary to underline that it is not a musical.

Dreamworks CEO has also said

Together with her world-class songwriting creative team, Rihanna has been collaborating with us over the last 2 years to create an innovative musical movie event that features an entire concept album of brand new songs and we couldn't be more excited about it.

Not sure what to expect but at least this confirms we're getting something from Rihanna at least

I'm not sure if I'm here for a concept album tbh

I am! *.*

Any new RiRi is good for me (and if it's a musical, amazing)

Interesting :o Not sure what their definition of "concept album" is here but this should be interesting to follow if nothing else.
I guess the massive and global success of Frozen (both the movie and the soundtrack) has given some ideas to them...

The movie's been pushed back to March 2015 now. I can see us getting a normal Ri album later this year (perhaps the usual Q4 release) and then this will come then.

EDIT: Nvm the source was very unreliable

Thank the lord it's not just Rihanna sung. We might be getting R8 in the 2nd quarter after all!

Ecxited for the songs, tho I'm not expecting much given the quality of the movie so far

why is Only Girl (In The World) on this album though? that's like 5 years old

exicted to hear the other ha songs and the Jim Parsons aka Sheldon Cooper song! (just to hear how he'd sound like singing properly lol)

'Towards The Sun' is premiering on Radio 1 as I type... her voice sounds great on it :)

EDIT: And the song's pretty epic too :D

Hmm, I don't love it but I don't hate it either. Not as instant as the still fabulous 'FourFiveSeconds'

With only 4 new songs on this soundtrack, I'm beginning to think there isn't going to be a concept album and these new tracks are just from R8.

Really? I think it's just as instant as FFS, if not more so, the chorus is especially memorable.

(idk if these are pitched vovals but I reallyreally like the song!)

"Boov Death Song" doesn't sound like it'll be particularly 'proper', especially as he's playing the lead role, an alien, in the movie. He's already done an original song in "Man or Muppet" too.

I love "Towards the Sun" on first listen! Really excited for the other songs/R8 now.

Edited by THEO.

Even fewer than Adam's previous post announced, there are only three new songs including "Towards the Sun" (although "Drop That" is sung by another artist). Plus it's only eight tracks long, surely it's not even worth the hassle for DreamWorks to release this now...

1. Rihanna - "Towards the Sun"

2. Coffee - "Run to Me"

3. Kiesza - "Cannonball"

4. Rihanna - "As Real as You and Me"

5. Charli XCX - "Red Balloon"

6. Rihanna - "Dancing in the Dark"

7. Jacob Plant - "Drop That"

8. Jennifer Lopez - "Feel the Light"
