So there's been lots of management problems which has ruined the ARTPOP era. However, if you were Gaga's manager how would you have done things differently? Different single choices? Different strategies?

Personally, I think she should've launched with "ARTPOP" as lead single. Gaga NEEDED to come back with something new, fresh and quirky which would stand out from all the generic crap in the charts. "ARTPOP" is that song. Some view it as a bit too left-field, however, I think (like with "Born This Way") is the perfect track to introduce the new era. Plus, it's not too far a departure from pop Gaga. I would've kept the single release where it was, despite leaking (if with my amazing management it did) and launched the track off the VMA performance. The VMA performance would've been more WOW and out there. The "Applause" performance was nice, but too safe and boring. I would've made sure it was nice and controversial and was a visual feast. After smashing to #1 around the world...

It's second single time! Two words... "SEXXX DREAMS"! An extremely risky choice, however, it was a clear fan favourite and the public needed RISKY Gaga. Plus history of massive hits has shown they lap up filthy songs. "S&M", "Blurred Lines", just to name two sex driven songs which were massive hits. With a radio edit "Love Dreams" if they refuse to play it, it would've been a BIG HIT! No ineligible/instant grat nonsense, I would've just released a separate single version. I would've also tried to really push for a collaboration with a big music star. Preferably Rihanna or Britney Spears. There would've been enough hype from both fanbases, plus a VERY risky music video to accompany. I would've released it in October with the album, of course, following in November.

In the two weeks preceding the album, I would've released two ineligible instant grats - "Aura" and "Applause".

The first single after the album would've then been "Gypsy", swiftly following up in around December. No brainer for me. It would've been this album's Edge of Glory type hit. All radio stations would've played it, whether Heart FM, Radio 1 or Capital. It's one of those songs with crossover/universal appeal. And it would've sold the album well too, which is the most important thing. The music video would've been a follow-up to "Telephone". Then the second and third post-album singles would be "Do What U Want" followed by "Applause" in March and July 2014 respectively.

Then on to the even bigger slayage of "Brooklyn Nights", "AMY" and 'ARTPOP: Act 2'.

I do think 'Applause' was a bit of a weak choice, the only 3 singles on that album are 'Sexxx Dreams', 'Do What U Want' and 'Gypsy'.

I'd have done 'Sexxx Dreams' in August, then 'Do What U Want' in October/November to push the album off the back of (and with a proper release strategy and video, not the epic balls-up that happened) and then 'Gypsy' in March.

MAYBE 'G.U.Y.' later on as a final single if the era went swimmingly enough.

Hmm my mind will probably change daily on this, but i think 'Applause' was the right first single even if it's my second least favourite single from her. I just wish it didn't have such a messy release, dropping a week early and killing the hype which was building instantly.

For the second single, again i agree with 'Do What U Want' but yet again, i wish it didn't have such a messy release. With a video and remixes released properly and on time it could have done very decently.

I would have gone for 'Gypsy' as the third single, treated exactly how 'The Edge of Glory' was, with a stripped back video, KILLER live performances and enough payola to get every radio station around the world whoring it out. Then perhaps 'Sexxx Dreams' although i can't help but feel it would flop disastrously as much as i love it.

So all-in-all there's not much i would actually change, except for everything behind the scenes, which i understand is uncontrollable at times, but it's been a gigantic mess which has overshadowed the few moments of brilliance on the album.

We're all agreed on "Gypsy" being third single! :D Seriously, I hope she releases it still. I could still potentially save her some face after the "G.U.Y." flop. At worst, it will shift a few more copies of the album.

There was nothing wrong with "Applause", it did what a first single should do, brought in old fans etc. etc.

Second single should have been "Sexx Dreams". It was most people's favourite from iTunes and really could have been a great part to the trilogy series of "Paparazzi" and "Telephone".

Third single "Dope".

Fourth single "Gypsy".

Fifth single "Do What U Want".

Oh yay, I love threads like this ^_^

Looking back I think 'Applause' did somewhat miraculously well and it's something we should perhaps not take for granted but I'm willing to believe it was mostly the fact that it was new and pre-album that allowed it to do as well as it did. If 'Applause' was being released now I would not be at all surprised to see it struggling in the same way as 'G.U.Y' currently is.

With that in mind, I would have chosen 'G.U.Y' for first. Now don't shoot me, I realise it's arguably killing her career as I type this but I really think that's because of sheer lack of interest in her than a problem with the song itself. It feels as commercial as anything from this album, certainly moreso than 'Applause' with its peculiar verses was and with the simple but lush video that accompanied it, I really think it could have done wonders for her... But that could easily be my love for the song speaking.

I would have done 'Do What U Want' second too. I don't know why everyone says it performed terribly considering at least in the UK it has comfortably cleared 200k when taking instant grats into account and it had a fairly lengthy chart run. She was hardly everywhere in the UK for its release either. Give it a less distasteful feature, a video that could actually be released and (like April said), "none of that instant grat rubbish" and I think it would have given the era its second hit, giving her some nice momentum.

Like seemingly everyone, I'd put 'Gypsy' third. I'm not as confident as everyone else is in it being a certain smash but I think it's extremely well-suited to powerful performances on X Factor finals, and a video too. Could have been pretty huge with the right opportunities thrown at it.

I would have ended the era then, I think. Seems strange to end it quickly but I think given over-exposure was a problem and the Born This Way era ending with underperforming singles didn't do huge amounts for her reputation, a short and sweet era leaving the public hungry for the next would probably have been for the best.

I'm happy she released Applause first as it was a great comeback single and one of my favourites however I felt it was rushed due to the leak and she wasn't physically ready yet with her hip so the promotion of Applause was good yet felt muddled to me. I would of liked to see it released in September/October/November 2013 time. Also releasing it later would prevent any 'Katy Perry Roar' comparisons and she would feel less targeted by the media constantly comparing the two not like she would care but I feel she was sort of attacked more then usual for Applause not hitting no. 1 in America last year.

The second single I think she should have released was G.U.Y in January/ February time and released the video a week later with the Artpop the album followed a week or so later. Yes it would have meant waiting longer for Artpop but maybe by that time she would have her health back and would have dumped Troy at this point to focus on how she see's Artpop. With all the Hype of the Album and G.U.Y i feel it could have been such a hit with it's big production video and Zedd feature.

The third single I'd want her to release would be Do What You Want ft. R.Kelly during April/May sometime which could hit back at anybody doubting Artpop's success and show the public she is capable of trying other genres such as R'n'B making the public realize her versatility. I imagine this would be a big hit and maybe if the R.Kelly drama died down at this point there would be less of a problem releasing a video.

I'd then want Gypsy released around the time the tour is in full routine e.g June/July/August time with a montage styled video even though I usually hate them I feel it would be nice seeing all of Gaga's moments in one video. It could be a summer smash and really remind the public how great she is. It would help carry the album alongside the tour and I reckon it would be as big as 'Edge of Glory' chart wise (hopefully not video wise).

I don't think I'd really want any more released singles from Artpop after this point due to Artpop Act 2 however it would be nice to see MANiCURE have a smaller video and achieve minor success as it's catchy, radio-friendly and the last minute or so of it is an album highlight. It could remind the public she's still capable of simple catchy pop songs and hype Artpop Act 2.

This may not have worked but I would have liked to seen the Artpop era begin this way. Dope and Venus could still be promotion singles and the Album should be sold cheaper in America especially which is part of the reason people are reluctant to buy it. If it was slightly cheaper and discounted at significant points such as Easter 2014 it would sell more.

1. Applause (October 2013)

2. G.U.Y (Jan/Feb 2014)

(Album Release)

3. Do What You Want ft. R.Kelly (April/May 2014)

4. Gypsy (July 2014)

5. MANiCURE (October 2014)
