No problem. Another happy customer :D.

Proving to be more successful than 'nasty' with just one post!

I'm pretty sure the 99p deal won't contribute to the chart - isn't there a minimum price for chart eligibility?

The minimum price rule applies to dealer price. The actual price it's sold for has no bearing (there were a ton of albums reduced to 99p for a day a few weeks ago which shot back into the top 10/20 as a result).

When it was Google Play's birthday 99p deals, there was a correlation between those albums that were on offer and their large rises in the chart so unless it was a massive coincidence, it counts towards the chart.

There is a price limit though as there is the budget album chart but I'm guessing the limit might just be for physicals for some unknown reason?

EDIT: Basically what Bre said, ha!

I was under the impression that the large boosts for Katy Perry and co were largely dependent on Amazon, no?
I can't remember the deal being offered on Amazon? Could be wrong but I'm fairly sure it was Google Play only.

Yeah I'm pretty sure Amazon was price-matching the Google play deals. I think it said that in one of the Music Week articles at the time.

I'm not sure, I know there have definitely been *some* Amazon deals recently but it's not necessarily the same ones you guys are talking about...

If there was price-matching then I'm inclined to think Amazon was the one that had actual influence over the chart but we could get a good idea of how much impact Google Play deals have when we see the midweeks for Katy B's Little Red, which had a one-day deal on Sunday I think?

Yeah I agree it was probably mainly Amazon's influence but Google Play could still help Lily to some degree.

My thoughts exactly. Also it'll be interesting to see Lily's drop-off from the Tuesday midweeks as her Monday figure will include pre-orders, general first day sales and 99p sales.

pre-order update

Found the article - from Music Week on 16/03:

The first four post big increases in sales week-on-week, Bastille's album is up 63.74%, Arctic Monkeys' by 51.73%, John Legend's by 96.91% and Lorde's by 88.24%. There are other factors at play but the main reason for each of these surges is Google Play's continuing birthday celebrations, which saw the mp3 versions of each of the albums priced at 99p for a 24 hour period, with Amazon price matching all but the Arctic Monkeys album.

So it's fair to say that Google Play deals have a significant impact on their own, based on the boost to 'AM'.

Back on topic :P

 11. Iggy Azalea - Fancy (feat. Charli XCX)

Great that this has established itself as a genuine hit, especially considering that it's the album's lead single and thus is clearly now gaining sales from casual buyers. Will definitely become her biggest seller now. It's tricky to manage a rapper's album release, but her team has done a great job in gradually building interest with each single and showing different sides to her without losing any momentum. I also think the success of 'Fancy' globally demonstrates the impact of a standout video that becomes a talking point, as I think the song itself isn't very instant and needs multiple plays/streams to catch on.

Alicia Keys "It's On Again (feat. Kendrick Lamar)" #35 & #435.

Hope it can get a few more weeks in the top 40. ^_^

:re: 272. Krewella - Enjoy the Ride

Nearly top 200! :o I believe it was used in the coverage of the Snooker which is why it is in the chart. I think if this song was released properly here it would do very well as it has entered iTunes a few times thanks to a small amount of use on TV.

Considering Coldplay are not eligible to chart come Sunday - It wouldn't surprise me if Paloma sneaked into the top 10.

12. Paloma Faith - Only Love Can Hurt Like This

192. Paloma Faith - Only Love Can Hurt Like This

338. Paloma Faith - Only Love Can Hurt Like This (Live For Burberry)

1189. Paloma Faith - Only Love Can Hurt Like This (Off the Cuff)

Her performance on The Voice has literally saved the campaign.
