May 10, 201411 yr No! It was better than I thought it was going to be. But Europe just didn't care apparently. SURPRISINGLY. I loved 'Moustache' and thought Europe would vote for it ;_;
May 10, 201411 yr I didn't feel wowed watching Molly's performance sadly. Sanna was such a moment in comparison, seeing her on BBC1 made my life complete. *.* Completely deserved top three finish. I have to say, I don't actually think Ace Wilder would have beaten Conchita either with the way that her hype whipped up during the week. In fact looking at the ballad heavy results, I think Ace would have done worse than Sanna!
May 10, 201411 yr Anyone who thinks that the voters of Europe would vote for a song based on respecting the composer seriously needs to get their head checked. Andrew Lloyd Webber's name did nothing for Jade and you're grasping at straws to paint a bad picture in saying it did.
May 10, 201411 yr Also, can I please make a point that when the songs were put to the OGAE, Molly came 5th when all points were scored. Not that it set anything in stone, but that's a clear showing that out of a network of 40 Eurovision fan clubs, the UK song was one of the favourites. So it's not really about having a bad song or bad performance on the night. Of course, this is subjective. But those numbers aren't my opinion, it's the opinion of thousands of people. We had a great effort and Molly put on a great show. There's not much more we can do. OGAE can be safely said to mean nothing when 'What About My Dreams' wins and 'Crisalide (Vola)' comes 2nd. It's based on hardcore fan votes. The hype around the UK pushed us up there.
May 10, 201411 yr Devastated for poor Molly :(, I had a feeling we’d struggle to make the top ten, but to finish in 17th place is ridiculous! :nocheer: I was the opposite, I really thought the track was good enough for a top 10 placing as the track is great I really think we need to pull out of this farce now, its the biggest non event of the year in my opinion and as much as I get the social, fun element its just not about the music anymore which is really sad (that and I miss my weekly fix of Casualty :) ) It won't matter who we send, I don't see the UK ever finishing top 5, let alone winning the thing!!

As I said before we have to work on the assumption that most voters will be voting having heard most - if not all - of the songs just once.

Andrew Lloyd Webber's name did nothing for Jade and you're grasping at straws to paint a bad picture in saying it did. Don't be rude, there's no need for that. It's your opinion that it didn't happen. You don't know for sure that's not the case, don't undermine my opinion because you think yours is correct.
May 10, 201411 yr My God, you would think BuzzJack of all places would be free of braindead people as regards Eurovision.
May 10, 201411 yr Don't be rude, there's no need for that. It's your opinion that it didn't happen. You don't know for sure that's not the case, don't undermine my opinion because you think yours is correct. Mine is correct. Your one is founded in ignorance of the facts and a willingness to ignore them to boot. Assume all you want that your opinion is more informed than that of people who actually pay attention to Eurovision but when your arguments have been non-existent I have no reason to respect your opinion.
May 10, 201411 yr OGAE can be safely said to mean nothing when 'What About My Dreams' wins and 'Crisalide (Vola)' comes 2nd. It's based on hardcore fan votes. The hype around the UK pushed us up there. But Sweden, Austria and Hungary came top 5 this year too? I'm not discounting anybody's place, because I really enjoyed the top 3 and even voted Sweden. It's ridiculous that some people can't have a discussion without throwing around insults. If you want to make a point.. Make it. Braindead? You're pathetic.

Assume all you want that your opinion is more informed than that of people who actually pay attention to Eurovision but when your arguments have been non-existent I have no reason to respect your opinion. How do you know I don't pay attention to Eurovision? Just because I don't spend my life making points in the Eurovision forum doesn't mean I'm not paying attention. It was noted that Jade and Andrew Lloyd Webber had a much heavier European promo schedule the year they performed. Clearly to throw his face and name around and show to Europe we were taking it seriously.
May 10, 201411 yr Maybe I'm just clutching at straws and finding an excuse other than "it's all political" but actually watching Molly's earlier performances back makes me realise her final performance wasn't as good I initially thought nor was it anywhere near as good as she is capable of. To the casual Eurovision viewer, which obviously makes up more of the viewership, it probably didn't translate as the anthemic track we know it to be. It wasn't a bad performance, but it did give me that little gut feeling a few minutes after we were in for a disappointment. But my two favourites were in the top 3, plus Hungary, Norway and Spain were top 10 with Poland not too far off, so I'm happy with the results as a whole.
May 10, 201411 yr There was nothing at all exciting about Molly's performance in the end and I'm pretty sure it deserved its position. The staging / vocals were average at best and a natural performer she is not. For a start she looked like she'd just been given arms for the first time two hours previously and had absolutely no idea what to do with them.

May 10, 201411 yr SEVERAL THOUGHTS: 1. Probably the most powerful Eurovision moment for me I've ever had - Euphoria was utter joy but it was different. This was a fabulous track, fabulously performed by someone so humbled by it all, someone who clearly never imagined ever getting this much acceptance in her life. But enough about Valentina - ALL BLOODY HAIL CONCHITA. WHAT A WINNER. Legitimate tears when she was doing her speech. 2. WHAT A BLOODY TOP THREE *.* 3. Sucks to be Mol. I'd have never imagined 17th, but hey - before everyone LOSES THEIR SCHEIßE (save it for Vienna bitches - oh, and FABULOUS call by the way Tom Kay. Serve me that steaming plate of humble tits along with everyone else who laughed at you for being certain on that one back in OH MARCH) over our result as I'm sure has probably been the case for the last few pages now (I haven't caught up yet), let us all remember one essential thing. As Eurovision fans (the casuals losing it tonight can bugger off - you know nothing of our pain and you probably wouldn't even turn up for this if we weren't entering, so either COMMIT or GET LOST) I trust we can all think of examples of songs we've loved, great songs, great performances, great talents. And I trust we can all think of examples of those where they've flopped - in the charts, in Eurovision, in Melodifestivalen. And sometimes that happens. And sometimes there's not much you can do about it. And it's pretty shattering - especially when it happens at a time when we could really have done with a good result, like this year - but hey, that's how it goes. One year you can send an everlasting piece of art like I Love Belarus, or Same Heart, or Hero, and totally and utterly flop. Another year you can send something rotten like Cheesecake and it'll perform beyond everyone's wildest imaginations. Some years you can get it perfect and get a middling result, like Anouk last year. The year after you can send something so subtle everyone thinks it'll go over Europe's head and get the best result you've had in nearly 40 years. And that's just how Eurovision goes sometimes. But the key thing here is that we're on the right track. For years the main barrier to us doing well was the BBC having no clue at all how to do it. But we've finally got that change in mindset, and I hope it sticks - I doubt they spent much money this year asking BBC Introducing acts to contribute a track for consideration, so cost shouldn't be much of a reason to change now. All we need to do is just find that track that connects. 4. I know I've spent all this season catting away at how dreadful this year is. I still think that this year musically is the worst we've had in a while - maybe I'm leaning more towards 2007 now rather than 2002, although I'm still on a high so that might be biased. But as an overall experience for things outside of the songs this year has nailed it on all counts. Exciting voting, a genuinely meaningful winner, and so many quirks that I as a statistical Eurogeek can't wait to get stuck into over the next few weeks. Brava Copenhagen: you put on a delight of a show.
May 10, 201411 yr I can't even @ Israel basically last in the semi!! Easily one of my overall top 5 this year, total *.* moment.
May 10, 201411 yr Aaargh at Lithuania, deserved that spot in the final :( She was sixteen points behind Slovenia, so it's not like it was close!
May 10, 201411 yr Great roundup Tirren and yes quite a call from Tom Kay. This is a real Lordi moment, it almost seems obvious now that Conchita was always going to win, yet hardly anyone really thought about it as a contender until a few days before the final. As for The Netherlands, I think their performance and staging helped a long way and doubt anyone could have predicted that standing out on stage so much!
