Yeah but surely you can't write them off when nothing good has been started for this single yet?

Of course, anything could happen at this point. But you have to remember, that the moment Radio 1 has stopped playing some artists, it's been the beginning of the end for lots of careers.

They are still playing Disco Love and What About Us so they haven't stopped supporting them (I don't think).

it really seems like they just didn't like NGU.

Usually when they don't playlist an artist's single it means they've dumped them completely, so I wouldn't be altogether surprised if they didn't support this.
Huh? Rochelle was only solely prominent on 30 Days and What About Us.

Rochelle hasn't taken a back seat since All Fired Up. She had the most vocals in 30 Days/What About Us/Not Giving Up, second most in My Heart Takes Over/Gentleman, and a healthy amount in Disco Love.

I agree. As much as I want to believe they still have a shot at being playlisted I do think it's a long shot. And just because R1 is still playing WAU and DL doesn't mean they're going to support new material. When they dump an artist they don't typically dump the hits that already happened, do they?

They will be playlisted. Pretty sure of it. At least up until the greatest hits campaign is over. Anything after that era is anybody's guess.
I'm sure Radio 1 may support it too. They still seem interested in it and considering Rochelle is in sweat the small stuff she may have quite a good relationship with Nick Grimshaw etc.

But The Saturdays do still have quite a high profile don't they? Especially with their own fashion lines, TV personalities and the big hits they've had. (well sort of big hits.)

I genuinely belive that R1 passed on NGU because the album flopped, they made key mistakes with the whole era after getting that #1 and just decided other artists deserved the place on their playlist that The Saturdays didn't get.

Radio 1 regularly snub 5th+ singles from an album, especially if it flops. If they snub WAYWF, then it's safe to say they've been snubbed from now on.

Their unclear future with Radio 1 is worrying.

Imagine this was their second number 1 and matched/outsold the sales of What About Us. IMAGINE.

This is exactly what I've been saying since they snubbed NGU. I totally agree!

I can't think of many/any examples of 5th singles that have been snubbed by artists and then the next/lead single being playlisted...? Can somebody enlighten me?

From what I've seen once R1 snubs an artist the only time they re-playlist is if/when the single charts at like number 1 or 2 without their support, and then they get back on board.

Just going to put my two cents in and say that I think it will be playlisted. Time will tell!
They hang onto old hits by artists sometimes. On the release week of Flo Rida's 'How I Feel' earier this year, which Radio 1 snubbed, they played his old song 'Good Feeling' Twice. The same as when they Snubbed 'Not Giving Up', they were still playing Disco Love.

Thanks Joe, that's exactly the point I was trying to make. Of course I want to believe they'll be playlisted but it could really go either way.

I seriously don't think it's the end of the world! I'm sure All Fired Up was played much more on Capital than BBC 1. If Capital like it even half as much (which they will), their song will do well
Just because they're liked doesn't guarantee plays though :(

That's not what I said, I said that if it's anything dancy like AFU, I'm sure it will get plays. Not to mention the song has a bit of hype around it.

Yeah I honestly thought not giving up was very capital, but they didn't really play it despite playlisting.

HTF: Yeah, we’re really excited to see it too. Can you give us a hint of what the song is going to sound like?

Mollie: Erm it’s definitely an upbeat party track. Erm, its really a feel good anthem and fits in very well with summer. It’s been produced by Xenomania who did a lot for Girls Aloud so yeah I’m hoping it’s going to go down really well.

HTF: Oh ok, because this single is going to be your 18th release, is this why you’ve decided to go ahead and release a Greatest Hits album?

Mollie: Yeah definitely, it felt like a really good time to do it because we’ve had so many singles out, we achieved our number one last year so yeah it definitely felt the right time.

HTF: Are there any big promotional plans for the single coming up before you release it?

Mollie: Well we’re going to be doing a lot of TV performances and we’ve got some summer dates before the tour so yeah just the usual really, a lot of radio chats and everything.
