May 29, 201411 yr I think the parents of this generation can only wish for that! It sounds awful but I hope they get their access revoked so it teaches them a lesson. -_-
May 29, 201411 yr Author I think the general consensus from some parents interviewed by the main newspapers seems to be that they're disappointed in the boys, they expect them to be better role models and they now see them in a different light, but they're not exactly going to stop their children from being fans of them. I certainly wouldn't be one to tell my children they can't be a fan of somebody because of the personal life choices they make.
May 29, 201411 yr I think the parents of this generation can only wish for that! It sounds awful but I hope they get their access revoked so it teaches them a lesson. -_- Good GOD Maybe these parents you speak to need to realise that children aren't as impressionable as they think CARRY ON
May 29, 201411 yr I don't understand why musicians apparently have a responsibility to be a role model.
May 29, 201411 yr I very much understand it - you're in the limelight, and when you have such a large fanbase like 1D, and a young one at that, you definitely are a role model. You might not WANT to be, but it comes with fame and they know full well that they're looked up to. Sure, it's their private life and they're entitled to do what they want, but I think they were silly to film it cause of their status.

I don't get how on earth they think it's acceptable to publish it. Then again what are we expecting from Louis who has like 15 million followers and thinks it is acceptable to swear in tweets?
May 29, 201411 yr Huh? What's so wrong about swearing in tweets? I'm sure the fans that are old enough to use Twitter know what swear words are ...
May 29, 201411 yr It depends on the age of fans. I hardly think it is suitable if fans as young as thirteen follow him. They are just awful role models in general -_-
May 29, 201411 yr Author I know I can't exactly speak for every single child out there, but I've been watching the likes of Shameless, etc. since I was about eight, which includes a lot of extreme language - my mum and dad have never had any objections. And I'd consider them some of the best scripts to come from British television. To go on Twitter and then see a celebrity expressing themselves in such a manner wouldn't necessarily make them a bad role model. I think a lot of parents out there do underestimate just how 'exposed' their children are to subjects like this.
May 29, 201411 yr It depends on the age of fans. I hardly think it is suitable if fans as young as thirteen follow him. They are just awful role models in general -_- Their job isn't to be good role models 24/7 though. They are performers/artists first and foremost and everything else is a by-product of that that is very often forced onto them. What a sad existence to continually act as shining role models for others at the detriment to who you actually are. Granted, it comes into the job description but we can cut them some slack surely. On the topic at hand, i find myself continually defending the likes of Bieber too, but they're only human and we all make mistakes. Big stars aren't immune from messing up, they just have to face the consequences in front of the WORLD which must be a terrifying prospect. Not like they're hard addicts or anything, let them have their fun i say.
May 29, 201411 yr The difference with that is that One Direction seem like decent and well-rounded guys. Justin Bieber comes across as a complete cock. But of course that's another issue.
May 29, 201411 yr To be honest, as much as the boys shouldn't have filmed it, if the fans are old enough to be using social media then they're gonna be old enough to know what weed is and be aware of it. They were very stupid and made a mistake but at the end of the day they aren't the first lads to have a joint and they certainly aren't the first celebs to make a mistake like this. They should really be aware though that they have a young vfanbase who looks up to them, whether they want to be role models or not they are.
May 29, 201411 yr I only just heard about this  I think Louis is about to have a mental breakdown. I think the boys are being pushed to hard and should probably have a break before they are left even more overworked and exhausted. Zayn should focus on his wedding to thingymabob (for however long it will last) and the rest of the boys should be spending more time with their families. I think because they are in the public eye they are not getting to experience their young adult lives and although it is irresponsible they should be able to have fun (if that is what they call fun.)
May 29, 201411 yr It isn't their job but if they want to be in such a well known band they need to toe the line and keep anything controversial out of the public eye. As for Justin Bieber I think everyone minus his following would agree hes ridiculous.
May 31, 201411 yr Author The boy band have brought in the lawyers to work out how a video showing Louis and Zayn apparently smoking a joint leaked onto the internet. After a crisis meeting with their management before their gig in Sunderland on Wednesday night the band ordered the legal team to launch an investigation into who could have made the video public and to get it taken down. A source close to the band said: “The boys insist the footage has been stolen from them and are not happy. So yeah, it's pretty obvious Simon is defending them to the hill to ensure One Direction doesn't come to an end any time soon.
June 1, 201411 yr 1D aren't coming to an end any time soon anyway, not sure why there's any doubt. Something like this definitely won't kill their career.
June 1, 201411 yr But for some parents of younger fans it will cast doubt on whether they'll let their children invest anymore in the group. I know, and pretty sure there are others that would agree, if my children were listening to a group that think it's okay to film themselves taking drugs I'd be pretty unsatisfied
