So I watched this movie and sadly I have to give it a 6/10. I prefer My Sisters Keeper to it but I feel it could have been much stronger if Shailene Woodley was not cast as Hazel

Shailene Woodley is a perfect fit for the role. She looks exactly how Hazel is described in the books.

Yes I know, I just wasn't a fan of her acting :(

I didn't think it was great. The tears are so transparently manipulated, and some of it was a bit self indulgent (that cigarette metaphor.. ). Woodley was good, and I enjoyed the relationship with her mum Laura Dern (who is amazing) but the love story was just a bit cringe (the Anne Frank house ... :puke2: ) And as much as I'm a bit in love with him, I thought Ansel Elgort was hugely annoying for most of the film.

Loved hearing Charli XCX though.

3/5

The book made me cry so i'm going to watch the movie.
Finally went and saw this with my best friend tonight, it was incredible! The emotion was so raw which brought out the tears! Great chemistry between the two actors as well, definitely did the book justice.
This is soon available in Dutch cinema's. Should I watch it?
This is basically a poor man's 'A Walk To Remember' really.

I haven't read the book yet but I watched the offical trailer two months ago and I really wanted to watch this movie at the cinema. It was released in my country last month but I watched it with my friends just yesterday. We realised that it's one of the best movies that we've ever watched!! I shed tears several times during the movie. Shailene Woodley was exceptional as Hazel and she was the most suitable actress for this role. I adore her!! She played so naturally her role that made me to believe that this character exists out of the cinema. The same happened to me with Cate Blanchett in "Blue Jasmine" and she won the Academy Award for the "Best Actress". So, I believed that Shailene deserves an Oscar nomination too. Ansel Elgort was very good too. Josh Boone did a great movie and the direction was very interesting but the most important thing was the story. This movie is very philosophical and the dialogues are very clever and well-written. “The Fault in our Stars” is full of social messages (about death, diseases, doubts etc) and it manages to give you motivation for your life. I believe that many viewers will reconsider for many things about their lives like it happened to me and my friends.

"The Fault in our Stars" had a small bugdet ($12.000.000) but it has already managed to earn 20 times more than its initial budget ($248.000.000). It's one of the most successful movies this Summer and it has many fans around the world. It has a high average score on IMDB (8.3), something very difficult for a movie with teenagers. You can't hate this movie and it's one of the few movies the last few years I would not mind watching again. If I rate it, I would give it 11/10!!! It's my favourite movie this year (so far) and Shailene is totally adorable!!!

PS. The soundtrack of the movie is awesome. I like a lot of the songs because they have sweet melodies with beautiful harmonies. Listen to it!
