Did anyone see the Williams sisters' doubles match? Had to retire 3-0 down in the first set, watching Serena play like that was awful, clearly ill.

Here's a clip of it:

Very bizarre indeed. How did they let her play?. Don't think that's the last we've heard about that.

Poor woman. Her team should not have let her go out there!
Can't decide who I'm up for in this Murray v Dimitrov match (Dimitrov is currently two sets and a game up by the way). Hope Murray can at least win this set.
Really really gutted :( I have no idea what even happened, Murray just didn't turn up at all today. It wasn't even a close match. Credit to Dimitrov that he did play well but there's no ignoring that Andy Murray just didn't bring his game at all. Such a shame, going into that match, he looked just about the best player in the competition, but it really didn't happen for him today. Not even close *sighs*
I think I hear the sound of British tennis relinquishing its last grasp on the fleeting euphoria gained from last year.

Yeah I think he may have come into it slightly unfocused as he hadn't really been tested in his previous matches. It seemed that he didn't come out fighting, in stark contrast to Dimitrov, and it was an uphill struggle for him from the off. Shame that he didn't even give the crowd a good match though. Interestingly, Dimitrov just said in his interview that he sensed Murray wasn't on his game during the warm up.

Anyway, I wish that pairing hadn't happened in the QF as I would have ideally wanted them in the final but regardless, I'm delighted for Dimitrov.

With Nadal and Murray out, Federer struggling, this looks like it's Djokovic's to lose. But he is down a set, however up 4-0 in the 4th.

Indeed, aside from Murray, Dimitrov is pretty much my favourite player in the men's game, so from that perspective, I'm delighted he's through.

Also earlier, Halep absolutely powered through Lisicki - as I said the other day, Halep is looking so strong, better than any of the other females. I'd be surprised if she didn't win but then Bouchard, her semi opponent, is doing well also.

Shame to see Murray going out but another QF finish is nothing to be ashamed of, he was never going to defend his title really.

Now that he's out, underdog to win please! Looking at Kyrgios / Dimitrov ~

he was never going to defend his title really.

Why? Most would agree he was the best player of the tournament up to this point, or at least the best of the big four.

Bouchard vs Kvitova is the final! Really disappointed for Halep, who I was rooting for to win the whole thing, I think her ankle problems in the fourth game DEFINITELY hindered her. I'd definitely say Kvitova will win in the final, Bouchard started cracking at the end of the second set due to pressure and I think experience will win over for Kvitova in the final. Two great young upcoming players though!

Djokovic v Federer final then?

Andy Murray set to drop to 10th in the world rankings on Monday his lowest ranking position since July 2008.

The bookies never had him down as favourite, with Djokovic and Nadal both higher at various points. I never thought he'd hold on to his title. He only won it last year as some of his biggest rivals went out early.

It's Djokovic's title to lose now.

The fact that the bookies had him down as a favourite doesn't really mean that much though, does it? Murray is 8th in the world and Nadal is the world number 1. To me, it was more obvious Nadal wouldn't win the whole thing than Murray. But, betting on a world #1 is safer.

Petra Kvitova has just won her second Wimbledon title in dominant fashion, beating Eugenie Bouchard 6-3 6-0 in less than an hour.
TERRIBLE match. Kvitova played well but Bouchard was not up to scratch at all. As much as I love the WTA, a 6-0 set should never ever happen in a grand slam final.

^ Disagree. Kvitova was phenomenal and would have beaten anyone the way she played today. Absolutely spectacular performance. Unfortunately the score doesn't reflect the fact that Bouchard played very well and it wasn't a case of underperforming or being overwhelmed by the occasion - she was just completely dominated by Kvitova and wasn't allowed to get a look in. It wasn't a good match at all though.

On another note, I really don't understand all the criticism* Bouchard seems to get about being arrogant and self-obsessed. It seems to stem from the fact that she's quite businesslike in interviews and for example, answers questions about whether she's surprised to be in the final with 'no I'm not surprised because I put a huge amount of work in...' rather than the more typical 'yes, it's a dream come true...'. She's confident, ambitious and matter-of-fact, qualities which some people continue to confuse with arrogance, especially when expressed by an attractive young woman. Hate to go there but it just grinds my gears! There are also mentions of the amount of publicity around her being the new glamorous face of tennis (not her fault), Laura Robson and herself not being friends anymore (understandable considering the high-pressure, competitive environment they're in) and taking a lot of selfies (she's 20). Give the girl a break :arrr:.

* I'm aware that the Daily Mail comments are not a place to find measured opinions but I can't believe that every mention of Bouchard was in the vein of 'glad to see her taken down a peg or two'.
