gecko looks likely to be the first no1 in a while not to have topped the iTunes chart~

I think, if it doesn't make it to iTunes number 1, Ella will take the crown again this Sunday.

It was number 1 briefly

 1. Gecko (Overdrive) - Oliver Heldens X Becky Hill

 2. Sing - Ed Sheeran

:ne: 5. Amnesia - 5 Seconds of Summer

very unlikely ~ ella would need to push gecko down to 0.30 for the rest of the week to close the 12.4k gap

What? I have already seen it at number one. Where on earth are you getting these facts from?

I think there's a good chance Taylor Swift will release lots of instant grats when her new album is up for pre-order in a couple of months time. I won't actually mind Taylor having lots of top 10 iTunes hits! :kink:

The thought of that makes me want to hurl. :puke2:

I wouldn't mind that either :kink:

Oliver will be back at #1 very soon (possibly at the next update). Then of course he'll be knocked off by the next 5SOS instant grat tomorrow, assuming that is happening :cheer: Such joy.

It seems like the chart has been infested with ineligible instant grats for so long but really (post Bowie-adjacent rule change) it's only started happening since 'Walking On Air' which wasn't that long ago.

Good to see Sia doing well on the pre-orders, it's just a shame this streaming thing is implemented on her release week and she probably won't make the top 10 now as a result.

Shame Make U Bounce isn't doing very well, it's much better than Dibby Dibby Sound :/
Sia probably won't be streamed much on her release week (for some reason new releases take a week to catch up) but Chandelier should open with about 35-45k I guess so it's hard to see it not debuting in the top ten, however much streaming effects things. I reckon the No.10 'sales' threshold will go up from its current 22-25k to about 30k maybe with sales and streams added.
Streaming is being implemented next week? I thought it was the week after. I wonder how this will effect Ariana :(

It won't. She will still be #1 with a healthy lead. The lead will be slightly less because Ella's streaming will be more than Ariana's that week but there's no way that she'll miss #1

I hope so, i don't want her missing out on a #1 by a small margin because of streaming

You really think Ella (or anyone else) has a chance of coming within 10k of Ariana's opening sales? Because that's what would be required for streaming to deny her #1. :P

Wouldn't affect me anyway, as she's one of the artists I buy CD albums of.

You just know that every 'big' artist with a strong digital fanbase coming back this year is taking notes and are gonna do this constant instant grat releasing every day up until the album or something similar :drama: I do wish iTunes could find a way to make them not appear on the feed, it would definitely make it a lot easier to read. If I wasn't on this forum, I wouldn't have a clue what's going on.

Excluding them from the chart would be very simple. They must have the data required for them to send the right information to the OCC.

It would be silly to exclude them from the feed though - aren't we like, the only country who actually excludes them from the chart? Plus I'm sure they don't really care for a few people on an internet forum who are inconvenienced by it :P
Why are people worried about Ariana missing #1? She'll probably come close to the biggest opening sales of the year so far. Don't forget the pre-order intially went top 30 for a few days (peaking at around #20-21) and remained in the top 200 for 2 months. She should debut straight at #1 on Sunday.
