DJ Pied Piper was awful back in 2001 and still is awful today! Ronan's Lovin' Each day is by far the best thing he's ever done in my opinion. It's such a great feel good record. Robbie's 'Eternity' was a non album single as it wasn't featured on 'Sing When Your Winning', but the B-Side 'The Road To Mandalay was.

Three former (well, almost) vocal groups make up this section, for me, this was a really great moment for Blue and one they haven't bettered, same can't be said for Atomic Kitten when the far more gorgeous original exists I'm afraid.

Also here is an utter TUNE from Eve and a song from the 80s originally about the Brixton riots that was for some reason re-released out of context in 2001 under a (inferior) new remix, I think it was on an advert at the time?

Eddie Grant's Electric Avenue was remixed and re-released due to being used in an advert and to promote his GH album. The remix gives it a kick up the arse to the boring original version.

The section before the top 10 provides a few surprises - Ms Jackson and Survivor are both classics and I am rather surprised at the disdain some hold to them! This rather little known Fragma song sticks out a bit in this well known section, clearly a following I wasn't aware of. Sorry jsilv, but Gabrielle is only just top 13 here. The Phonics make up this section with their pleasant-on-the-surface song about a real life cab journey they had.

Cannot agree with you there I'm afraid, the original's a bona fide classic :o

Out of Reach is so beautiful :(

Stereophonics and Destiny's Child songs are great too.

Never expected Fragma to get that high  Good song though. I remember buying that on CD single on release week. I was convinced at the time it was going to Number 1. Outkast's Ms Jackson is a great track, shame it's overshadowed in their discography by 'Hey Ya', although HY is a great song, Ms Jackson is my favourite by them. Great feel good classic from the Stereophonics there, a track from their 2001 album 'Just Enough Education To Perform'.

A classic funky little number here starting off the top 10, though far more of that to come from the start of disc 2

So close to the wonderfully pun-worthy event of Ms Jackson blocking Outkast from the top 10 (I know she's married and all), but not quite. Here she is with her last top 10 hit ever as it stands.

This wonderfully understated number, despite it's #30 peak, has gathered some acclaim over the years. Those that don't know it, those vocals are indeed those of Sia Furler, whom is about to get her second ever top 10 hit solo this week. Think she featured on a song with David Guetta as well, can't remember

07. Nelly feat. City Spud - Ride Wit' Me (8.23)

This was quite the surprise and I wouldn't have had this down as a top 10 contender before this rate started! Though Nelly is quite terminally shit these days, he was pretty great back in the days, including this one from his early days. Gosh, radios/TV must have had nightmares censoring this at the time.

06. Dido - Thank You (8.28)

Soz T Boy, but #6 ain't bad right? Known to many as the song that was in Stan, Thank You nonetheless can stand on it's own as one of Dido's signature songs from what was very much her golden period.

05. Ian Van Dahl - Castles In The Sky (8.42)

11 (Riser, Dobbo, gooddelta)

The INDIFFERENT BRIGADE hindered this from triumphing in what was an extremely close top 5. You may be familiar with a different version than the one above which puts slightly more emphasis on the echoing production outside of the big breakdown, whichever one you like, this is definitely a dance classic <3

04. Gorillaz - 19/2000 (Soulchild Remix) (8.44)

WE TRIED GUYS, but alas the best song doesn't triumph :( The cartoon group were making waves in the early 00s, and this very chilled song was lovely as it was, but this remix made it far more dancey, upbeat and appealing than ever and in recent years has arguably gone on to overshadow the original. It's probably my favourite song from them. Did I mention it should've won?

03. S Club 7 - Don't Stop Movin' (8.475)

11 (Niall Minogue)

4 (Thermo)

Near universal appeal around all voters (even Dandy*!!! :o ) but alas can't quite make it to the top. S Club were pretty much the only big thing when I was little, but today their songs, as wonderful as they are, can be seen as just a bit tacky. For me, this stood out from that quite a bit and was a very competent and cool pop song, which I believe would be held in slightly higher regard today if it was a different artist singing it.

Rate immediately invalidated.

( :( )

I'm not sure which 19/2000 I prefer. The original is so nice and chilled but the sped up version of the remix also makes it very worthwhile.

Don't Stop Movin' is incredible for S Club though so I don't mind that beating 19/2000 too much, can't quite remember what the other two are so we shall see if I mind.

I can reveal we have a tie at the top decided in the end by number of 11s

10 (Jade, T Boy, gavindeejay, Griff, Chez Wombat, Leonardo, Jonjo, jsilv, Iz, Niall Minogue)

3 (Atonement)

Slightly hindered in the end by, despite mass appeal, not receiving any top marks. Little else to say about the song really, a total classic of the 00s and an relatable for pretty much anyone of youth and one of the definitive songs of the year which maintains it's relevancy right to this day. It's really due a 59p deduction on iTunes soon.

01. Roger Sanchez - Another Chance (8.61) (More 11s)

11 (Thermo, Jade, Griff)

2 (Leonardo)

Roger Sanchez takes the crown narrowly in the end. A very subtle and quite soothing dance classic out of many the late 90s/early 00s offered, so you won't see me complaining here, even if I can't really find much else to say about it. Full list coming up soon.

No.6 will suffice for the best track, I suppose....
Both of those are acceptable - and I love Wheatus especially. Wonderful top 6 in that case.
