I still think Liverpool will get Top 4 easily. We played awfully this time last year too, but we managed to actually win a few of them. Hoping that once Sturridge & Allen are back we'll be a little bit better. If we play shit when Balotelli, Sterling and Sturridge actually play together than I'll start to worry.

Got to say I'm impressed with Southampton, but like last season I think they will have a strong start and then falter.

The two decisions leading up to the first Leicester penalty were shockingly bad. I hate to think what Ferguson would have had to say about it.

Never a penalty, but you can't defend like Man Utd did, it was absolutely awful. Fans can blame the referee all they like, but it's just papering the cracks.

Oh, very true. The penalty was a turning point but that's no real excuse for what happened afterwards. They were well on top when they went 3-1 up but, after the penalty, they were woeful.

If I had to pick a team to get it, I'd still pick Liverpool, but they way the teams are looking at the moment it wouldn't surprise me if it's more than a few points less than 4th last year.

So we can't defend, but luckily Man United, Spurs and Everton can't either

And whilst Arsenal kind of can, they don't have anything like enough players to do it.

Before last weekend it looked as it the 'bottom 13' was going to split fairly easily into teams who'll struggle and teams who won't. Despite winning I still think West Brom and Palace will be in the former, with the latter being Southampton (obviously), Swansea, Leicester, Stoke, West Ham and Hull. Maybe Sunderland eventually as well, god knows about Villa and Newcastle.
I'm expecting Villa to do well for the first 10 games then implode completely, and be horribly inconsistent. That said so many teams are quite equal to each other, and I if QPR are struggling come Christmas time (an absolute given) you just know they will spend big again.

I think West Brom's squad is actually quite decent, they've really improved their defence this season in comparison to having Ridgwell, Jones and McAuley in it last season. A wealth of solid midfielders and some decent attackers, Berahino has needed more game time for a while but is an excellent prospect with a superb record since the beginning of last season, MOTD pointed it out last night. Varela could be interesting too.

The problem with West Brom has been that it feels like they've been in a bad run since about November 2012 now and Irvine is an odd appointment, though unlike most of their fans, I'd probably rather give him a go than Sherwood.

Must say I've always rated Craig Dawson and it's great to see him finally getting a run and doing well, continuing in the team now Lescott is available. I was disappointed his transfer request was rejected in the summer because he deserves a go rather than being backup defender.

Their problem is that they have no real star power, and have never really kicked on since they've become an established Premier League team. Heck I can't even remember them having a semi-decent cup run to get the fans excited over the past few years. Berahino is an obvious talent, but the likelihood is that if he keeps this form up, one of the top 6 clubs is going to prize him away in the summer.

Well I'm deliriously happy at the moment.

In really good form at the moment. Sakho and Valencia are on fire, pleased for you cos out of the London clubs West Ham are my favourites. Be interesting to see what happens if/when Andy Carroll comes back in to the picture.

I do find it funny how no-one seems to be calling for Fat Sam's head anymore though :D

Carroll will be an option. He would have been really useful in the game against United when we had them pinned back.

Only problem is I don't think he would be good in a 4-4-2 diamond. A different option though like you say.

Where to start:

Levy going to get trigger happy with managers again? Sunderland awful, again. Massive West Ham victory. Chelsea bottling 3 points and showing me why I think they won't win the title. Then Man Utd celebrating like they had won the league :D

I can't see any other team other than Chelsea winning the premier league, they are already five points ahead of Manchester City having played at both Manchester grounds.

I am a West Ham season ticket holder and the start to this season is almost unprecedented in my eyes! Last season seems just a bad dream now!

The signings made were encouringly out of the box, with players signed from the Championship, Mexico, Belgium and the French 2nd division alongside the excellent Song :) Apart from Chelsea and Southampton, who made equally good summer signings!?

However, being a West Ham fan requires a large amount of realism and finishing around 8th would be fantastic progress and our highest finish since 2002 :o
