Mike Ashley has said that he won't sell Newcastle before they win something or qualify for the Champions League. Clearly, he thinks he is immortal.

To be fair I really thought they were going to qualify in 11/12 but that was just a fluke season really.

Can't see how they're going to do any better next season though. Need a near complete squad overall.

Their squad isn't too bad, but it's a million miles away from Top 6, let alone Top 4.

I feel sorry for the fans as the only reason Mike Ashley is saying this, as he knows the value of the club will rise even further.

They need big investment in their defence but that squad shouldn't have been threatened with relegation.

You can't really argue with Mourinho winning Manager of the Season given that they ended up winning the league at a canter while turning a transfer profit. Koeman, Monk and Pardew would have all been solid choices though.

Also, I've decided after that Goal of the Season vote that democracy is bad.

I have just had to go on Wiki - please don't tell me that Jack Wilshere goal won it?

Good goal, but I can think of at least 5 others that are better.

Arsenal fans raided it on Twitter. Don't know how the Chelsea one against Burnley or Jagielka's in the derby didn't make the final eight.

Jack Wilshere won goal of the season last year as well didn't he? it seems like he's got the midas touch when it comes to these things. Charlie Adam should have won it instead.

So many better goals, unbelievable really!

Lol what? Jack Wilshire's wasn't even the best goal in that game!

What an absurd decision, I've seen smashes like that from outside the box literally every weekend this season. Leroy Fer, Matt Phillips, Coutinho & Valencia all scored far superior goals to Wilshire.

Usually the candidates are the 10 goal of the month winners but apparently not this season given 3 of the 8 on the shortlist were from one weekend!

Zamora's was my favourite.

Patrick Vieira is on the four man shortlist of candidates to take over as the manager of Newcastle United along with Steve McClaren and Remi Garde.

Has Carver been sacked yet?

No I don't believe he has although he's on the final list of candidates as far as I'm aware.

Yesterday he phoned Ryan Taylor and Jonas Gutierrez to tell them that they won't be getting a new deal with the club.

It appears that Newcastle have ended their interest in Patrick Vieira taking over as manager. Steve McClaren still the favourite to take over.

Both in the same phone call apparently. How crass.

Yes it was both on the same phone call. Shameful way to treat Ryan Taylor & Jonas Gutierrez following his recovery from cancer and scoring the goal to keep them in the league.

Dick Advoccat has left Sunderland after two months as their head coach.

A week later following this story he has performed a U-turn and decided that he wants to stay as the Sunderland head coach with a one-year deal.

He was obviously persuaded to change his mind.

He was said to be under pressure form his wife to retire. Maybe she changed her mind

The fans have since raised a lot of money to buy flowers for Mrs. Advocaat!

West Ham have indicated (according to BBC sport site) that they expect to name a new manager in 48 hours.

Also possibilities of new ownership at Aston Villa according to sports news.

Newcastle as expected have sacked John Carver as their manager which is expected to taken up by Steve McClaren soon.
