Surprised James Bay isn't doing better on Spotify, he seems like exactly the kind of artist who'd do really well there.

It'll probably climb when he wins the critics choice award and also when he releases his album, songs don't usually peak on spotify in the first week on stream

I think it's because of the popular Today's Top Hits playlist; now why someone put it on there I don't know!

Meghan Trainor's new single Lips Are Moving is on Spotify now so wonder she'll do as well as with All About The Bass. If anyone is wondering new Take That album won't be on spotify until January, google play got the exclusive streaming rights for the first month of release

I really hope "Lips Are Movin" does do as well, another great pop song by Meghan :D

 

Mariah is 37 & 101 today with The Pogues just outside the 100 with Fairytale at both 103 & 104.

Mariah was 52 officially this week though. I doubt she's going to only scrape top 40 lol. The Christmas songs are slowly rising atm but I'd imagine they increase quicker as the week progresses onwards.

They have been keeping up with their 2013 pace so far (at least on sales alone) and continuing the pattern they should both be top 20 this week. Could be a bit lower if streaming is still holding them down but I expect streams of Xmas songs will pick up very rapidly as lots of people are probably starting to put together Christmas playlists and whatnot.

Yeah i would say streaming will make a massive difference to the xmas chart itself whereas before hand xmas songs will only really do well on stremaing at weekends as parties are organised. I thought streaming would have more of an effect this week but i suppose if they are selling well enough it wont matter and both should enter the official top 40. The xmas songs will slow down from next week again usually until 15th dec onwards.

Couple of updates, Mariah is now in the top 10 at number 8, and The Hanging Tree is starting to do really well on streaming, currently at 56, think it was 81 yesterday

There are two versions of All I Want For Christmas Is You on the Spotify 200 chart and the two totals combined (at #21 and #55) push the song into the #8 position! That explains why the two charts show different positions.
