A disgrace that that Timbaland 'song' beat 'Birthday' and 'Thinking Of You'. :(

I love it! Thinking Of You has such a following on this forum ;)

Glad 'Part Of Me' finished lowly, such a nothing of a song.

Starstrukk and If We Ever MEet Again horrendous abominations of songs.

"Part of Me" was one of my favourite songs in 2012!!! This song means a lot of things for me. The lyrics are simply great!! Your faves could neva. Bye
I hope Waking Up in Vegas sneaks into the top 10. So under-rated.

14. Hummingbird Heartbeat

At #14 is perhaps the greatest single that never quite was "Hummingbird Heartbeat" taken as the 9th and final single from her second album "Teenage Dream" in Australia only. The track was inspired by Katy's then husband Russell Brand and musically it contains Electronica glam metal and rock and lyrically it compares the feeling of falling in love compared to a hummingbird heartbeat. The track was labelled by fans and critics as a definate potential single when the album was released, but was cancelled in favour of "The One That Got Away" and was therefore only released as a radio release in Australia where it made top 40 on the hot 100 airplay chart at #34. But if given a proper push along with a music video then this would have definately blown up everywhere. On this rate this track did gain mostly positive results with six 10's, four 9's, five 8's, but did also get quite a few average and lower rates.

At #13 is another Teenage Dream era single to drop out making this 3 in a row. "California Gurls" was the lead single taken from her second album, released in May 2010 and features rapper Snoop Dogg who both artists co wrote this track along with Bonnie McKee, and is said by Katy herself as an answer to "Empire State Of Mind" by Alicia Keys and Jay Z. The song itself is a midtempo disco pop and funk pop with influences of new wave and electropop, and the lyrics are an ode to the state of California in which both artists were born and raised. When released the track had a massive impact on the charts worldwide along with it's fun music video which has themes of Alice In Wonderland and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory setting, along various sweets and walking gummy bears on sets, (how can you not love that video) and set the wheels in motion for a successful second album campaign, and boosted Ms Perry to even greater success. The song topped both the UK and USA charts, selling over 5 million in the US and went Platinum in the UK selling over 740,000 copies over there becoming her 2nd chart topper in both countries. The track also topped the charts in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Hungary, Ireland, New Zealand, Poland and Scotland, and runner positions in Finland, Israel ,Netherlands and Slovakia and top 5 in Austria, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Bulgaria, Swiss, Denmark, France and Norway. Top 10 in Sweden and Japan and it's lowest peak was in Spain at #17. Also earning Platinum and Gold status in 13 of those counties. On this rate the reception was mainly positive, but very mixed, gaining six 10's and 16 high rates, but rest were average and quite low.

At #12 is another lead single "I Kissed A Girl" which was Katy Perry's debut single released in April 2008 and despite a mixed critical reception for it's certain lyrical content, it became a worldwide smash and even features a pre-fame Kesha in the music video, the track topped the charts in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, Swiss, UK and USA and top 10 or top 20 everywhere, setting in motion a successful career for Katy Perry and what a way to start with a same sex kissing lyrics, and okay gladly she's had a lot better stuff since, but I'm just glad that there is still a lot of love for this track. On this rate it gained one 11, seven 10's, nine 8's and 9's, eight 7's.

At #11 and just missing a place on the top 10 is "Unconditionally" and was released in October 2013 as the 2nd single from her third album "PRISM" and despite scoring the same as "IKAG" I placed this higher due to it gaining more 10's. Despite being embraced by fans and critics this only became a moderate success peaking at #14 in the USA after 9 top 10 hits and worldwide it managed top 10 in Bulgaria, Italy, Lebanon, Hungary, South Africa and South Korea. Top 20 in Australia, Canada, Slovakia, Austria, Croatia, Poland and Brazil. Top 40 in Germany, Scotland, UK, New Zealand, Belgium, Ireland, Netherlands, Swiss, France and Spain. On this rate this track gained one 11 and ten 10's and got off to a flying start on this rate, but slowed down in the middle and towards the end.

Sean and Atonement both of y'all need Jesus for those -1's

'Hummingbird Heartbeat' is a highly enjoyable album track but I couldn't ever imagine it working as a single.

Glad 'California Gurls' finished low, great video but the song is a cheap knock off of 'TiK ToK'. The Teenage Dream era had SO much better to offer thankfully.

I've since decided 'Teenage Dream' is my favourite Katy single so would give that my 11 now. :drama:

Edited by mr_aly

I love all the singles and Cali Gurls is IMMENSE!!

Nottin like Tick Tock, it's much better, one of the defining pop anthems of our generation.

Unconditionally is tripe however as is I Kissed a Girl.

Now we enter the top 10 and starting us off is "Waking Up In Vegas" released in April 2009 as the fourth and final single of her debut album "One Of The Boys", but before it's release though this song played a big part in Katy getting signed to Capitol Records, as it was originally recorded for her shelved album for Columbia Records, when one of the record execs heard it on a three song demo he was convinced it was a No1 hit and convinced Capitol to sign her, "If You Can Afford Me" and "Fingerprints" were also in the running to be released, but Katy chose this instead which was the right choice, as it outperformed her previous mis-fire "Thinking Of You" and put her back in the US top 10 peaking at #9. Worldwide it topped the charts in Belgium and Hungary, top 10 in Canada, Ireland, New Zealand and Slovakia and top 20 in Australia, Netherlands and UK and top 40 in Austria, Sweden and Germany. On this rate this track gained two 11's and six 10's, four 9's, seven 8's and only 3 low scores under 5.

At #9 is "The One That Got Away" a midtempo pop ballad about lost love and was the 6th single taken from her 2nd album "Teenage Dream" and shows a different more serious tone to all her other singles released up to that point and became another chart smash for her reaching #3 in the USA, despite not reaching #1 like all the previous Teenage Dream singles, it still became only the 7th album in the 53 years of the top 100 for an album to generate at least six top 10 hits. Worldwide it topped the charts in Poland and peaked at #2 in Canada and South Korea, while hitting top 10 in Hungary and Slovakia, top 20 in New Zealand, Ireland, Scotland, UK and Austria. Top 40 in Netherlands, Australia, Brazil, France, Belgium, Swiss and Germany. So not too shabby for a 6th single release and probably the massive 223 million views the music video had on Youtube probably gave it a boost. On this rate this track gained three 11's, Seven 10's, four 9's, twelve 7's and 8's, and just 4 low scores.

At #8 is another Teenage Dream era single "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F)" , released as the 5th single in June 2011 and became her 5th US #1 in a row becoming only the 2nd artist in history to do so and only female (Michael Jackson was the other one with his "Bad" album) and sixth in total. Katy was inspired by a fun night of partying and streaking for this song and the lyrics speaks for itself, along with a 1980's house party themed video along with celebrity cameos, it was all just good fun. Worldwide it became another smash hit topping the charts in Canada, Czech Republic and Slovakia, top 5 in Ireland, Lebanon, New Zealand, Australia and Hungary. Top 10 in Austria, Netherlands, Scotland, South Korea, Italy, Luxembourg and UK. Top 20 in Brazil, Germany and Swiss and top 40 five other countries. On this rate despite not gaining any 11's, it did manage six 10's, seven 9's, eight 8's and only one really low score of 4.
