I Have Nothing http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/c/c0/Whitney_Houston_I_Have_Nothing.jpg/220px-Whitney_Houston_I_Have_Nothing.jpg Avg: 9.178 At #3 is "I Have Nothing" released in February 1993 as the third single from "The Bodyguard" soundtrack. The song is a rich prchestrated power ballad about deep love and commitment to one's lover, and following the back to back success's of the previous two singles, this became another smash hit for Whitney and the track became popular before it was even officially released due to it being heavily featured in her movie "The Bodyguard" and it got nominated for 3 awards including an Oscar, Grammy and Soul Train Award and she promoted the track on her worldwide concert tour which was also named after the movie itself. Since it's release it's been a popular song choice like many of her other hits on reality shows. In the US the track reached #4 on the Billboard charts and went on to earn a Gold disc, and in the UK it peaked at #3 becoming the 2nd most successful song from the album and earned a Silver disc. Worldwide the track reached #1 in Canada and hit top 5 in Ireland, top 20 peaks in Belgium and New Zealand, then top 40 peaks in Netherlands, Australia, France, Germany and Swiss.
July 13, 201411 yr "My Love Is Your Love" and "How Will I Know" deserved to be in the Top 5 because they are simply great!! I think that "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" will be the No.1 because many people are connected with it. It's a classic song and everybody loves it. There was a period which I used to go in the clubs and djs always played that song. I still remember the reaction of people..
July 13, 201411 yr Author Right now we are down to the last two Whitney Houston singles "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" and "All The Man That I Need", so whose won let's find out = 2. All The Man That I Need http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/5/5d/Whitney_Houston_-_All_the_Man_That_I_Need.jpg/220px-Whitney_Houston_-_All_the_Man_That_I_Need.jpg Avg: 9.208 Right then at the runner spot is "All The Man That I Need" and so that means we all know who the winner, and that will be coming up, but for now it's the runner up, just missing out on the top spot after such a close battle in average wise, and despite getting 2 less rates than the winner, the scores it did get were very positive scoring one 11, four 10's and then the rest were mainly 9's, and now score lower than a 6. The song itself was written by Dean Pitchford and Michael Gore and was first recorded by Linda Clifford in 1980 for her album "I'll Keep On Loving You". but failed to chart. The song was again covered by Sister Sledge as a duet with the singer David Simmons on their album The Sisters but it didn't make a dent on the Hot 100 instead only charting on Hot R&B charts at #45. Whitney Houston recorded her version in 1989 for her third album "I'm Your Baby Tonight" and released it as the 2nd single in December 1990 and it finally became a hit reaching #1 on the US Billboard charts, becoming her 9th chart topper and even got nominated for a Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Performance Female and Best Soul R&B/Soul Single at the 6th Soul Train Music Awards. Worldwide the song was quite successful topping the charts in Canada and reaching top 20 peaks in Netherlands, UK, Belgium, Ireland and Finland and then making top 40 peaks in Austria, France, Germany, New Zealand and Swiss. In 2001 Luther Vandross performed the song with altered lyrics as "All The Woman That I Need" at the BET Awards in honour of Whitney herself. 1 I Wanna Dance With Somebody http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/8/84/Whitney_Houston_-_I_Wanna_Dance_with_Somebody.jpg/220px-Whitney_Houston_-_I_Wanna_Dance_with_Somebody.jpg Avg: 9.25 Now finally Buzzjack have spoken and after weeks of voting we finally have our #1 Whitney Houston single and I am pleased to say as it's also my personal fave "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" , with one score of 11 from me of course and a whopping seven 10's and no scores lower than a 7, which makes this your winner. Released in May 1987 as the first single from her 2nd album "Whitney", produced by Narada Michael Walden and written by George Merrill and Shannon Rubicam of Boy Meets Girl fame who had also written her earlier hit "How Will I Know" and their hit song "Waiting For A Star To Fall" was gonna by recorded by Whitney, but her record company passed on it. The song was originally gonna be a country tune, but thankfully transformed by Walden to make it a classic pop dance song. In the US the song entered the top 40 and 6 weeks later became her 4th US #1 hit and went on to sell over 2 million copies and won Favorite Pop/Rock Single at the 15th American Music Awards and won a Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Performance Female and the music video won on the 1st Garden State Music Awards. In the UK the song is her biggest selling single of the 80's and 2nd best overall, becoming her 2nd #1 and selling over 760,000 copies and earning a Platinum disc. Worldwide the song was also a massive success selling 8 million copies and again her 2nd biggest seller after "I Will Always Love You", and topping the charts in several countries such as Australia, Belgium, Canada, Finland, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, South Africa, Spain, Sweden and Swiss. In 2012 the song re-entered the charts in 14 countries, including re-entering the UK top 20 at #20. Edited July 13, 201411 yr by Niall Minogue
