Nope, sorry Calum. Unless you were kidding, you were going to submit votes done at random which is probably worse than not voting as you're getting off free while songs you may not actually like are getting a boost. The deadline is clearly stated and by entering the contest, it's your responsibility to look at it and find some time to vote then.

 

I haven't been nearly as busy as you so I can't say what that's like but the point of the deadlines being all at midnight these days is so that as few people as possible miss them and so that a there's an effective cut-off point. Doesn't matter if it was 2 minutes or 2 hours or 20, there needs to be a clear dividing line between accepted votes and not accepted votes so we don't get the situation of it being 'unfair on someone'.

 

Yes it's just 'a bit of fun' but we do need rules, come on. Now it's past midnight, if we left them through, whoever is affected will feel aggrieved and rightly so. There's a pretty clear policy on late voters these days to stop further controversy.

i don't understand why there even needs to be a "policy" on voters submitting votes though? if a host is happy to accept going votes and has prepared as best as he/she/it possibly can do and can willingly spare time to add in additional votes that may be received, then there's certainly no degree of unfairness?

i just think from someone who's hosted a couple of times, this whole pressuring into receiving votes is a bit shit on the host cos it really makes them feel like they can't win / guilty either way - yall were nodding ur head at the deadline when you first opened the thread and now you aint!!! they have one job and so do you~

I agree that late votes shouldn't be accepted if they do change who will qualify and who won't, overall I don't think late votes should ever be accepted and this should be an official rule to prevent occasions such as these. I can see Calum's point as late votes have been accepted before (see Ashton's late votes being allowed just a couple of contests ago as a prime example) and it's all a result of a lack of consistency.

 

So my feeling is that late votes shouldn't be accepted on any occasion, but in future the moderators must make it consistent for every contest and not leave it up to the host as it just causes unnecessary occasions such as these.

 

Also just to add, I know my last contest did cause a lot of voting drama but the point is that I shouldn't even have had the opportunity to accept late votes as it should be consistent across all contests and outlined like this in the rules.
