I really love that Magic! song, so glad to see it so far ahead of the rather demo-like Crazy Stupid Love, would be wonderful if that could beat Cheryl, but either way, she'll be behind Magic! the next week.

Such a shame URL Badman isn't doing any better :( I hope it stays top 75 at least.
Didn't really want to admit it but I can't see Cheryl getting number 1. Rude is picking up the pace now and I can see that debuting above her on the first midweeks. I think they'll eventually outsell her by around 20k first week. It just seems as though the song is about to take off.

Revised pre-order projections following the iTunes positions from the last couple of days are as follows:

Crazy Stupid Love

Total iTunes pre-orders estimate: 14,950

Rude

Total iTunes pre-orders estimate: 10,660

Using the calculations below, MAGIC! will be just under 1,000 pre-orders closer to Cheryl that the initial estimation earlier in the week! After writing off MAGIC!'s chances a few weeks ago, I'm starting to think they could do it again as a 4,000 pre-order gap isn't that much and the momentum is massively with 'Rude' now.

Week commencing | iTunes chart run | Average chart position | Total sales for that position that week*** | Estimated iTunes pre-orders*

I know lots of people think Cheryl has it, but I don't even think she'll be number 1 in the Wednesday midweeks, personally.

I don't know who those people are but I've been saying for a long time that MAGIC! would make it. Cheryl has nothing in her favor: the pre-order gap will be tiny, MAGIC! is well ahead on airplay AND on iTunes, Cheryl don't do physicals any more, and MAGIC! will be far ahead on streaming. How could she make it?

Actually, if she does no promotion next week, I don't even want her to go to number 1. She needs to show some concern for the single. And it will be a good lesson for her label. Promoting it a lot two months early then hold back the release to finally release it the same week as a monster hit like "Rude", when everyone on the Internet has been saying for weeks that she should have moved her release forward. They've been idiots.

Out on Sunday update:

25 MAGIC! Rude

46 Cheryl Cole Crazy Stupid Love (feat. Tinie Tempah)

125 Charli XCX Boom Clap

198 Neon Jungle Louder :left:

You've missed 2 more:

122 X Ambassadors & Jamie N Commons feat. Jay Z - Jungle (Remix)

159 MK feat. Alana - Always (Route 94 Radio Edit)

I'm the same. I placed my bets on Cheryl before, but now I'd place them on Rude.

This could be one of the weeks where TV performances actually make a difference. If she performs the song on TV (or it gets used on a high profile TV show) then it could boost her over Rude. Another way she could get #1 is to do like Titanium and Paradise and discount the song to boost it there.

397. Duke Dumont - Won't Look Back (Radio Edit) *Pre Order*

How well do you lot think this will do? I really like the instrumental of this song but the singing lets it down in certain places.

'Paradise' had a price *increase* during the week leading up to it being #1.

Did it? :o Well, it was discounted for part of the week at least (I felt like it was discounted for months for some reason, but I might be thinking of Princess of China).

How much did you bet and what were the odds?

I didn't bet on it literally (luckily, or else I'd have lost money).

I heard the song the other day and I liked it, reminded me of Turn Back Time for some reason. Can't remember much about what the singing was like (don't usually pay much attention to vocals), but I remember at the beginning of the song there was a note held on for ages and I just wished it would stop since it sounded quite shrill over the beat. That's the only fault I have with the song really.

I made that comparison in my head too, not sure why either! The vocals remind me of 'Ride on Time' by Black Box - I wonder if the vocals are a sample of one of their songs?

24. Magic! - Rude

46. Cheryl Cole Feat Tinie Tempah - Crazy Stupid Love

110. Charli XCX - Boom Clap

118. X Ambassadors & Jamie N Commons feat. Jay Z - Jungle (Remix)

159 MK feat. Alana - Always (Route 94 Radio Edit)

197. Neon Jungle - Louder

1118. Cher Lloyd - Sirens

Oops at Neon Jungle - I think 'Louder' will peak at around #12. Now being released could help them manage to go top 10 on iTunes on Monday - although streaming will not help them in the slightest with the Now album being released.

I hope Charli XCX can go top 10, she deserves it

'Turn Down For What' seems to be back on iTunes again (the single version and all). Back at #52. I wonder why it kept being deleted in the last few weeks

192. Fans - Kings of Leon

196. Everywhere - Fleetwood Mac

197. Not Afraid - Eminem

Of course these reductions will have much less of an effect on the chart than before anyway as the vast majority of the tracks have negligible streaming but it could help out some relatively recent tracks that are still doing well on streaming ('Latch' could easily re-enter the top 75 this week seeing as it's already back in the top 100 thanks to streaming anyway). Hopefully RHCP can re-enter the top 100 anyway and yay for 'Viva La Vida', 'Cupid's Chokehold', 'If I Could Change Your Mind' and 'Frontin'' re-entering the iTunes top 100

I can see a lot of those new releases ending up between 11-15 because of streaming... (and a lot of new releases going forward actually too, the type that usually scrape in at 8-10 will have no chance anymore).
