July 13, 201411 yr Great.... so even older songs are getting more longevity in the charts.....zzzzzzzz
July 13, 201411 yr Love this thread idea! I wonder what the first song will be to both gain and lose a week from streaming?
July 14, 201411 yr Can anyone point me to the thread which indicates all the songs that wouldn't have charted if downloads had never been included in the charts  Seriously, though, while this topic may be of limited interest in the short term, while the inclusion of streaming is still new to everyone, surely we now just have to accept that the singles chart is now calculated using the current methods.
July 14, 201411 yr Author 'Interesting threads shouldn't exist now because they won't be interesting in the future' This thread isn't 'not accepting' the changes in the chart, it's just documenting the impact of the change on the lower end of the top 40. I don't intend to keep updating it forever long past streaming completely taking over the chart if that ever happens.
July 24, 201410 yr This week's gains Vance Joy - Riptide Sam Smith - Money On My Mind This week's losses Raleigh Ritchie - Stronger Than Ever DJ Fresh - Make U Bounce
July 30, 201410 yr This week's gains Kiesza - Hideaway MKTO - Classic Ed Sheeran - Don't This week's losses Cher Lloyd - Sirens Kove feat Melissa Steel - Way We Are Michael Jackson - Love Never Felt So Good
July 30, 201410 yr Great.... so even older songs are getting more longevity in the charts.....zzzzzzzz I knew this was going to happen, new tracks will crash down the chart and older tracks will just hang around for weeks... Great idea for a thread though, interesting to see how its taken hold of the charts
July 30, 201410 yr But old tracks are new tracks once upon a time! It's not too big a problem, it'll sort out the properly popular stuff from the one-week wonders which I agree has pros & cons but is a better "official" reflection.
August 6, 201410 yr Update for this week and the most fascinating one yet :) Gains (35) 53 Ed Sheeran - Don't (36) 50 Tiesto feat Matthew Koma - Wasted (38) 48 MKTO - Classic (39) 44 Milky Chance - Stolen Dance (40) 42 5 Seconds of Summer - Don't Stop Losses (42) 40 Sigma - Nobody To Love (43) 35 X Ambassadors/Jamie N Commons - Home (45) 36 Naughty Boy feat Sam Romans - Home (49) 37 The Script - It's Not Right For You (51) 39 Maroon 5 - It Was Always You Five changes which I believe is the most yet and the higher the gains are the lower it is with just sales!
August 13, 201410 yr This week's changes Gains (37) 44 Kiesza - Hideaway (38) 51 MKTO - Classic (39) 54 Tiesto feat Matthew Koma - Wasted Losses (41) 34 MK feat Alana - Always (43) 38 Neon Jungle - Louder (45) 40 Sigma - Nobody To Love
August 20, 201410 yr This week's changes Gains (33) 45 MKTO - Classic (34) 41 Kiesza - Hideaway (39) 44 Rita Ora - I Will Never Let You Down Losses (45) 38 Clean Bandit feat Stylo G - Come Over (46) 33 Hot Natured feat Ali Love - Benediction (47) 34 Twin Atlantic - Brothers and Sisters MKTO gets highest position with more time to date at number 33 and the first to enjoy four extra weeks thanks to streaming. August 21, 201410 yr While it's a shame that the likes of Clean Bandit and Naughty Boy have missed out on the T40 due to streaming, I quite enjoy seeing a few tracks re-enter (Kiesza, Tiesto) and am loving that MKTO has earned so many extra weeks due to the streaming.
August 21, 201410 yr So far so bad, I wasn't against streaming being included, but I have to admit it makes the charts so much more boring considering how many good songs have missed the top40 because of streaming. :(
August 21, 201410 yr I dont mind streaming if these songs are missing out theres a reason, it bores me that some songs get into the top 40 for 1-4 weeks - are they really that popular in the first place?
August 22, 201410 yr A lot of the time it's because they don't get enough exposure, and thus don't get the chance to become 'popular'.
August 22, 201410 yr The songs I was talking about are ones that get exposure but still have short chart runs!
