And I'd add if listeners find it dull they won't tune in. Radio 1 is supposed to be instructed to find new music that appeals to young people not playing the same tunes for 6 months. Back in the day - yes I'm old - fluff Freeman used to play New entries from outside the top 20 and New releases then do a top 20 rundown. The charts weren't even slow in those days either!

The top 40 chart show has to adapt to the tedious New chart regime or lose credibility.

I can guarantee you that 99% of chart show listeners will not have noticed any difference. Please stop exaggerating.

The opening post has been updated with the following entries and adjustments:

-3

18 • 15 • Ed Sheeran ~ Thinking Out Loud

-9

40 • 31 • Maroon 5 ~ It Was Always You

-10

34 • 24 • Jessie Ware ~ Tough Love

Poor Jessie Ware

Only a single song having a higher top 40 peak due to streaming - I know you'd expect there to be more lower peaks but I thought there'd be more than ONE higher one.

There actually was two but Thinking Out Loud kinda ruined that this week by climbing to #15 on sales and #18 officially. I imagine Don't will also get a lower official peak when that properly takes off

The first post has been updated with the following additions and adjustments:

+1

11 • 12 • Ed Sheeran ~ Don't

-1

04 • 03 • Kiesza ~ Giant In My Heart

-2

16 • 14 • Ed Sheeran ~ Thinking Out Loud

-5

14 • 09 • Rizzle Kicks ~ Tell Her

-6

32 • 26 • Iggy Azalea feat. Rita Ora ~ Black Widow

-7

40 • 33 • Hot Natured ~ Benediction

45 • 38 • Clean Bandit feat. Stylo G ~ Come Over

-8

40 • 32 • Sam Smith ~ I'm Not The Only One

-13

38 • 25 • The Saturdays ~ What Are You Waiting For

47 • 34 • Twin Atlantic ~ Brothers And Sisters

Iggy and Sam Smith of course have potential to shorten the gap between sales and official peak and both Ed Sheeran songs are likely to re-peak too. Poor floppy The Saturdays and Twin Atlantic though break the record for widest gap between sales and official peak. Hot Natured would've joined them but fortunately for them they already peaked at #40

The first post is starting to look massively long for the site to cope.
I, personally, enjoy this thread and find it interesting. Obviously, I understand it can't go on forever as we become more used to streaming inclusion, but I think it has it's place for now.

It's only got about 30 records on it

-16

43 • 27 • Mega Giants ~ Prayer In C

-17

57 • 40 • Cliff Richard ~ I Still Believe In You

Quite a few this week and five songs missing on a top 40 peak because of streaming :o

Don't gets removed from the list as it's current peak is #8 in both sales and officially, which makes Thinking Out Loud the only song that streaming has benefitted the peak of.

I'm gutted Chris Mallinchack missed out on a Top 40 hit. :( It also would of been nice to have Cliff chart in the Top 40 this week just to hear how Jameela would introduce that and read the Buzzjack reaction to a Cliff Richard track back in the Top 40.

20 • 19 • Ariana Grande feat. Zedd ~ Break Free

-3

11 • 08 • Lethal Bizzle feat. JME and Tempa T ~ RariWorkOut

-6

38 • 32 • Katy Perry ~ This Is How We Do

-8

43 • 35 • George Ezra ~ Blame It On Me

-11

49 • 38 • M.O ~ Dance On My Own

M.O get hit the hardest by streaming this week. George, 5SOS and Katy's gaps should all decrease as they climb the charts. Possibly Ariana's too. Shame about Lethal B missing the top 10

This is obviously some strange use of the word shame that I wasn’t previously aware of.

Some beneficiaries this week in the form of Sam Smith and Iggy Azalea :o

Poor Love Too Deep though :( I knew this would be a victim of streaming. Damn you British public.

Thing about streaming is that airplay is everything if a songs Blisted on radio 1 like Love to Deep and is pushed down the chart due to streaming its game over and dropped and it won't make it. Whereas the top end tracks like Sam & Iggy are gauranteed and increasing in airplay hence their actual increase in sales/chart position increase week on week. Steaming makes it hard for hits without airplay basically which is a bad thing for the chart imo

Love Too Deep would've been dropped from the playlist anyway, whether it made #34 or #48 doesn't matter both are still an underperformance. It wasn't likely to climb in the charts or playlist the following week anyway even if R1 didn't drop it.

Update

-1

07 • 06 • 5 Seconds Of Summer ~ Amnesia

10 • 09 • Chris Brown feat. Usher & Rick Ross ~ New Flame

-2

06 • 04 • Ten Walls ~ Walking With Elephants

-7

20 • 13 • George Ezra ~ Blame It On Me

-8

42 • 34 • Paolo Nutini ~ Iron Sky

-9

49 • 40 • Hozier ~ Take Me To Church

-10

22 • 12 • Fall Out Boy ~ Centuries

-15

53 • 38 • Kid Ink feat. Usher & Tinashe ~ Body Language

Ouch at 'Body Language' (being hit nearly as hard as the fake 'Prayer In C' with its nonexistent streaming!), it's still doing well on iTunes though so hopefully it can yet improve on its peak and close the gap.
I want to see a #1 (or #2) different to the sales and official chart... That would be interesting :P
