Shame about LuvBug missing top 10 but I didn't expect it to even make it on sales so it's done well.

October 20, 201410 yr Bakermat and Watermät both reaching #10 on sales and being bumped down to #15 with streams added, in addition to their names being identical save for 2 letters and an umlaut. Much coincidence ~

It went to #36 on sales and #48 officially. However it has a #4 peak from its 2011 sales boost. - Bré must be happy right now with the news that Animals has benefitted the most in terms of peak position from the inclusion of streaming in the chart :D No other song has improved its peak position by 3 or more places. This could all change next week though, as the song is still climbing. Ed Sheeran returns to this list, with his official peak being benefitted by one place at the expense of Waze & Odyssey. Taylor Swift also gets a new record this year for biggest difference in official peak and sales peak for a song that officially went top 40. This of course is "helped" by the song not being available for streaming.
October 27, 201410 yr Poor Hudson Taylor, the second hardest hit song so far. 'Chasing Rubies' is a great song and they could have used the exposure of a top 40 hit. They could still get bigger in the future though (potentially shortlistees for Sound of 2015?)

November 5, 201410 yr Thank god streaming kept that UKIP song out of the top 40 Well, I guess that's one of the few benefits we have had from streaming! But the problem with streaming is that the streaming chart is like the chart used to be before 1995: start low, climb to the peak, and then go back down again, whilst the singles chart is: enter at the peak, then fall down. The day that on streaming the songs will enter at their peak and then fall, the streaming chart and sales chart will be in harmony, and streaming will truly be relevant to the popularity of the song, instead of lowering their peak but then making them stay in the top 40 longer.
November 6, 201410 yr Well, I guess that's one of the few benefits we have had from streaming! But the problem with streaming is that the streaming chart is like the chart used to be before 1995: start low, climb to the peak, and then go back down again, whilst the singles chart is: enter at the peak, then fall down. Why is that a problem? I think that's great, that songs climb and then fall rather than enter at their peak position so much,
November 6, 201410 yr I have found recently that songs starting off lowered by streaming later 'catch up' with the 'trend' and sometimes end up higher than the sales chart positions! This has also happened the other way too. A Thousand Years still hasn't managed this so well yet though :(
November 6, 201410 yr Ed Sheeran needs to be taken away from this as well now, leaving just two songs to increase their peak due to streaming.
November 6, 201410 yr I guess that could potentially be because sales are normally fairly frontloaded; this results in an artifically high peak through pre-orders (note that all songs that peaked higher due to streaming are post-album singles). Of course some songs are OA/OS and some are post-album songs, though the same theory could potentially apply (just with a less noticeable difference) as with more people purchasing the song, its market is being saturated, resulting in less people still yet to buy the song (who have already heard it, liked it, and don't want to buy it again). Streaming does not 'suffer' either of these 'consequences' as the market for people listening to a song can't really be saturated in such a way (of course people do get bored of songs and find fresher songs) and you can't exactly pre-order a stream (saying that, they'll probably figure out some way of allowing you to automatically put songs in a playlist once they're released or something!) leading to a much slower climb/decline.
