Posted July 15, 201411 yr It's no secret that Ed Sheeran's second album is the biggest of the year so far, but how long will it stay at #1. It's spent 3 weeks so far and is probably gonna spend more. Can anything dethrone it in the foreseeable future though? Here is the release schedule to help you. Collabro could potentially go to #1 as sales will be low and they won BGT, but I doubt it. If it does though I imagine Ed will return to #1 the following week. In about a month we should have a run of #1s from Twin Atlantic, Ariana Grande, Maroon 5 and by that time sales of 'x' would have really died down, so I'll predict 8 weeks.
July 15, 201411 yr I think it could stay number 1 for at least 2-3 more weeks, I don't see any of the releases in the next couple of weeks beating it. Potentially Neon Jungle at the end of July
July 15, 201411 yr This week (4th week) i believe is a cert as Morrissey wont be a strong enough challenge, so i think 5 will be its minimum stay for now but it will no doubt return to number 1 at a future date.
July 15, 201411 yr I think Collabro will probably knock it off and stay their for two weeks, after that I don't think 'x' will get back to #1 but who knows really..
July 15, 201411 yr I agree that Collabro seems to be the only threat over the next few weeks. Otherwise a high-profile televised performance from the likes of Sam Smith, Paolo, Coldplay, Paloma or even George Ezra could be enough for #1 on a quiet week (although I don't think there's currently a big enough TV show or upcoming festival platform that could have such an effect). It'll be interesting to see if 'Don't' will get a big push sooner rather than later as that might give Ed a convincing lead for a while and possibly enough to outsell Collabro. Also, to be pedantic, 'x' is actually the third biggest album of the year :kink: (but the fastest-selling of course if you're using that definition).
July 15, 201411 yr Also, to be pedantic, 'x' is actually the third biggest album of the year :kink: (but the fastest-selling of course if you're using that definition). Only cause it has a disadvantage of several weeks from the albums above it :P I agree with those saying he'll be #1 until Collabro knock him off, his sales won't be *huge* by then and these types of albums always sell well.
July 15, 201411 yr I'd be quite surprised if Collabro didn't reach #1 - my mum said she was looking to buy tickets for one of their concerts and they were almost sold out so there is obviously demand for them. Richard & Adam placed third in the competition last year and reached #1 so I think with Collabro's BGT winner status, they'll be able to make it too. So I'll say 5 consecutive #1 weeks for x at least. I can definitely see it returning at some point, especially going on the fact + returned or got close multiple times and that x has proved to be more popular so far. I'll go for 7 weeks at #1 for this year (could return to #1 in the final week due to January sales, unless that would count as the first chart week of 2015?).
July 16, 201411 yr Too long. Was coming in here to say exactly that (ie. to troll) But yeah, I think 5 consecutive weeks, but it has a good chance at another few down the line I would imagine. I've obviously not listened to it to know what other singles it can be plumbed for.
