The resolution was awful. I hated the love conquers all endings that kept happening!
Happy so far with all these coming near the bottom. There seems to be a pattern as to my eyes these are all poorly thought out and written with very young children in mind. That and the major continuity cock up that is the callous Doctor from Dinosaurs... which would've sat better with Eccleston but by this point The Doctor's character had developed beyond the bitter and battle hardened version that he was supposed to have become once.
I don't understand the hate for the Rings of Akhaten, it's a wonderful story. I didn't like it much when I first watched it, but having now watched the series 3 times, there are definitely worse episodes (Nightmare in Silver, Journey to the Center of the TARDIS).

Journey to the Center of the TARDIS

honey, no. despite Ashley Walters being as annoying as ever (+ the two other little people) that was a beautiful story, esp. when Clara found out what the zombies were <3

The Lodger

http://popcornworld.files.wordpress.com/2010/06/drwho511.jpg

I like to think the clever thing about this episode is that the title - 'The Lodger' - isn't actually referring to the Doctor "lodging" with Craig, but instead the upstairs that doesn't exist, masked beneath a perception filter. It was the episode where we were first introduced to the Silence's time machine... Something that still hasn't been answered, and assuming that the Silence arc has now reached its end, we won't ever get the answer. Although I suppose we can assume that the time machine was an effort to travel through space and reach the Doctor to stop him from ever reaching Trenzalore. Anyway, back to this episode... Is there really that much to say? Much like Peter Kay being an unlikable twat outside of Doctor Who, they really pushed the boat out with this one getting James bloody Corden. Admittedly, he wasn't *as* bad as he's been in everything else I've seen him in, but the character is a complete waste of 90 minutes' dialogue ('Closing Time' being just as bad until it reached its climax and River was taken by Madame Kovarian).

The concept of being led upstairs by the Pilot and used as an experiment never to be seen again was quite good, but all the stuff in between with the Doctor playing football, everybody stopping in a split second of time, Amy trying to reach the Doctor, Sophie and Craig's soppy love story, Craig getting sick by touching the corner of a ceiling. It was all just a bit too farcical to enjoy, really.

God, AWFUL episode! Or maybe I should say god-awful.

What the hell, the Silence arc finished? I thought that was the 'The End' voice that broke the Tardis? And that it was never mentioned again after making the Tardis bell sound.

Did you watch 'The Time of the Doctor'? No?

I would say that 'The Lodger' is far from my favourites but it doesn't deserve to be that low at all. Glad to see 'Love and Monsters' and 'TRoA' low though, the latter has far too many flaws to make it work. The concept with the leaf leading to Clara's parents getting together is good in theory but is terrible in terms of it actually happening. I laugh everytime he walks into the road purely because of a leaf blowing in his face.

Where is 'The Curse of the Black Spot'? Needs to be soon.

Fear Her has to be next! Or the one with the devil  Or the rip off of the Masque of the Red Death.

Edited by Michael!

I'm appalled that the perfectly good 'slice of life' episode The Lodger is below the bore that is Fear Her, not to mention any number of bad/average episodes. Sure it has James Corden but he was okay and the episode was pretty funny in places while still having a good amount of threat over it.

I'm sorry but you have me rather confused. I noticed in the rate you mentioned Girl In The Fireplace as a rip off of Masque Of The Red Death but I just can't see it. I'm, perhaps wrongly, that you mean Poe's tale?

The one where a number of noble's hide from the plague in their palace whilst locking the poor outside, worrying only of themselves and living it up somewhat. The Prince throws a masquerade ball with seven different rooms including one where no-one wants to go in. Eventually they discover that a guest 'The Red Death' is actually the plague itself.

Surely, ...Fireplace is more The Time Travellers Wife in it's plot?

Also it's clearly one of the best 10th Doctor stories in every aspect

The Lodger was pretty great :( WAAAY too low. Not a Who classic but definitely not the worst, or near the worst.
James Corden presents a real problem. He is a very good actor (see his performance in The History Boys) but, when being James Corden, he is an irritating twat.
The Lodger was just really dull, some cringy attempts at humour (I sigh at the Doctor playing football) and just a dull story that lacked any tension whatsoever. James Corden didn't help, plus he was overexposed as f*ck at the time.

Fear Her

Okay so this really isn't *that* bad when you exclude Chloe Webber who was really really annoying when possessed by the Isolus. Or maybe it is that bad. The idea of incorporating the London 2012 Olympic Games into an episode of Doctor Who was great, but sadly both attempts didn't really work... at all. 'Good as Gold', a special mini episode was really really bad, but I suppose that's what you get when you let a bunch of primary school children "write" an episode of Doctor Who. This episode however, well... I don't know, the part where the Doctor lit the flame really was quite nice, but the rest of it was a bit grating. The idea of things that a girl drew coming to life and terrorising those around them or making things disappear and become trapped in a drawing is quite terrifying to say the least. When the TARDIS disappeared it was a ;O moment. When the little boy playing football disappeared and the opening credits came in it was quite ;O. When Rose was attacked by a scribble monster it was quite... no it wasn't. Let's just forget this episode happened, shall we?

Night Terrors

I really do not understand why the fandom seems to hate this episode as much as it/they does/do. Aside from George being a little bit annoying at certain points in the episode (although I'd put that down to dodgy direction and script-writing more than anything), this episode had a bit of everything. It was funny, it was frightening, it had a brilliant monster, and it had various moments that made it a thrilling Doctor Who episode. When we got to the part where we found out that the dolls, etc. were all inside George's wardrobe it kind of threw me off track and ruined the episode a little, but when Amy and Rory entered the lift and arrived somewhere entirely different, that was amazing. As was the idea of the peg dolls. Terrifying in every way, and when the landlord was transformed into one, that was a fab moment (not because he was transformed into a peg doll, poor soul, just because of how well it translated). By far my favourite script from Gatiss, and he certainly does have a lot of iffy ones. And the fact that this rate has claimed its first series 6 victim makes me very cross x
