Is Children of Men gonna be one of THE films of the fall?

I think it is, the trailer looks good and it has been getting good vibes at the Venice Film festival, better than the fountain and lynch's inland empire

Looks interesting this one, I've got a lot of time for Clive Owen as well - good actor....

But we call it "Autumn" in this country, not "Fall", we aint bloody Americans yet.....

It looks really good. Def a new concept whic is always good

Hmm, it's not really that new an idea, "The Handmaid's Tale" (which was a book as well...) has a central premise pretty similar to this.....

i know, but as an (adopt managementspeak  ) international entertainmant portal blah blah blah

anyway i put 'THE films of the fall' as i ran off the tongue better being both F words

one of THE openings of Autumn

one of the Amazements of Autumn

didnt really have the same impact dontyouthink

I quite fancy seeing this one. I saw some clips on Johnathan Ross's Film Thing yesterday. It looked really good.

And I like Clive Owen a lot ( except in King Arthur which was total c**p :puke2: )

It's really quite an excellent film. The plot does go a bit awry here and there, but the way Cuaron has structured and shot the film more than makes up for any slight deficiencies in the script. Where most 'action' directors go for quick cuts, Cuaron actually does his action sequences in long takes, and this really gives the film its edge, sometimes it looks like you're watching a documentary, such is the realism of the piece, the camera even goes out of focus sometimes just like it would if you were watching a documentary where lots of things are going on; there are even blood spatters going onto the camera. It really is quite intense, particularly the nightmarish opening sequence with the coffee shop blowing up and the astounding closing battle scene in the refugee camp, it looks like something out of Sarajevo during the Balkans war....

I'd recommend this film....8/10 from me...

great film and hopefully Claire-Hope A$h!tey is gonna be the next break-out star after emily blunt

loved the way they used old Citroën CXs, Fiat Multiplas and Renault Avantimes (which i bet were so outofthisworld when they first were put into production) for the cars of the future and put really slick fronts over them. so its like some kind of ex-communist state decomposing around with 1960s and 1950s models updated  so they dont look so old.

so england in 2027 looks like Chechnya in sometime like 1994

also Julianne Moore gets shot within the first 30 minutes. you dont get that with a major american actress in most films (if only if it happed in trust the man  )

I saw this last night, its absolutely brilliant, the best film I have seen since Brokeback Mountain!

It's the #1 here at the moment but has not made too much money.

In America, I don't rate its chances.

PS before anyone shouts at me, I'm not saying that box office has anything to do with quality.

I just mean I don't think this film will be one of the most successful or most talked-about films of the season

Well, it's a British film made by a Mexican director, so......

What do the majority of Americans know about good film-making anyway...?

It'll probably do better on DVD, which is a real shame, because it needs to be seen in all its 'sound and fury' glory at a cinema, regardless of how good a Home Cinema set up you have....

Yep, the affect and sound of the gun fight at Bexhill was astounding at the cinema!

Yeah, I was convinced that there was actual gunfire coming from behind me.... Last time I was that convinced by sound was the Normandy Landings sequence in "Saving Private Ryan"....
