One thing I know for sure is that these girls won't "split". They will definitely say they will be taking a break and say something like "But we'll be back after that!" and just never reformed you know? But there won't be a split, that I'm sure. It's just not ... them.

I'm not entirely sure the break is necessary coming.

I like they idea of the Christmas album. Once that is out the way they can record a new single early and then take a few months off to let Una have the baby, similar to 30 Days

Even if they did break up, I can see them still being a nice friendship group which was more my concern than anything else.

It wouldn't be nice to see Una's instagram flooded with her and a chick called Lucy instead of lovely pics of her and Rochelle

I'm feeling like there is not much left to happen in SatsWorld. I think once Frankie has completed this SCD thing we will get a mailer about the girls taking a break to explore other projects with a quiet end to the band

I'd love to be proven wrong though!

missingyou is that you singing the Drake/Sats mashup, its amazing!

Well, the fact they have recorded their next album already would say otherwise.

I see The Saturdays in the same way that I see McFly. Both are pretty irrelevant pop groups who started off with a bang (McFly obviously bigger) and gradually fizzled out. However, unlike most of their peers (Girls Aloud, Sugababes, Busted, The Wanted etc) their group lasted so long because of pure friendship and a small dedicated fanbase. Radio 1 and Capital will never hammer either group again and their top ten days are over but why should the brand end just because the commercial success is over? The Saturdays and their management are basically one huge family and as long as they get gigs, small tours, top ten albums, top 40 singles and exposure through reality TV contests (McFly's drummer was on Strictly years ago) then I don't see them ending any time soon.

The only sad thing for me is that it's now been a year since The Saturdays were in the top ten. :( I would like them to have one final hit single because I feel they still have so much potential.

I think it was the same year for McFly, that Dougie won I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here and Harry won Strictly, which made them very relevant. Mollie to enter the jungle please!

I think a series of flop singles isn't going to help their chart statistics at all tbh. But I would like them to continue tours or performances for a while.

Mollie on I'm a celeb would be soo good

I don't believe it's the end of them at all. I've been saying, since speculation first started, that a break would do wonders for their career. Clearly they need to rebuild their star power/hype and build up some anticipation because the "release after release after release" strategy is not working for them. It sucks as a fan because I want as much new music as possible, but they need to give people the opportunity to miss them. It wouldn't hurt for them to reinvent their sound a bit too.

Yes they all seem very solo-focused right now, but can you blame them? They've probably been waiting for an opportunity to fully focus on their solo projects for the past six years and they finally have a chance to do that. There's no doubt in my mind that once they get it out of their systems they'll miss the group and reform. They love being in the Sats too much not to.

Unfortunately, I can't see a break working for them at all. Girls Aloud were in a much better place than The Saturdays when they went on their break, and were a bigger band altogether - and their comeback killed their momentum completely. Nobody, other than big fans seemed to care. I think The Saturdays would struggle massively to have any relevance whatsoever with a break.

I think they will stay together and do little bits and bobs, maybe release the odd song, maybe covers albums. But will never have chart success again. Either that or will say they are on a break but never get back together.

They need to try and copy the What About Us strategy again. Disappear after a floppy single (30 Days/What Are You Waiting For?), take time out to do something else with the band (reality show, promote in other countries, feature on a DJ/rap song or something) and then come back with a big song and a relevant name attached.

With What About Us, I think the hype of a reality show and the fact that they may become big in the US (lol) contributed to that. Maybe they could try 'conquer' japan or something?
A break to revitalize their sound would be great; they're only going to continue to lower in sales so it's better they try than succumb to what is killing their chart success.
I wonder if they've decided to scrape the Christmas album? There's literally no hype in the slightest and I doubt a Christmas single would do anything. I would much prefer they released a new single in Germany / Europe in January and promoted the single there while debuting it on radio over here.

I don't see why they don't spend 6 months releasing the greatest hits in other countries with actual promotion and single re-releases. Germany and France are quite good European markets and South American fans seems to go crazy over nothing so why not try there?

Why not Australia and New Zealand? If anyone told me a year ago that Paloma Faith would have a no.1 single in across the world in AUS I would have laughed in their face. Ella Henderson has made it big too there with Ghost, okay none of them have the same voice as Ella but together they have a great likeability about them? Little Mix seem to do well over there and G.R.L also had a hit in AUS with Ugly Heart so it's not like AUS/NZ are anti-girl group. In fact they seem to love their pop and I wish they pushed What About Us a bit more over there.

Heck once Una has popped out child no. 7 (I know she's only had 1 but the amount of time she spends mentioning and talking about Aoife feels like forever and a day) why don't they try america again and even Canada? and actually go to small states, do radio shows, play small venues and build their way up? we'rent they listed to support Justin Beiber on his American leg of a previous tour at some point. Surely they can get a good support spot again considering the amount of their UK top ten's and capability. Even if they reached #92 in the US, the sales are unbelievable and a single can sell millions without even touching the Top 10, why spend all the time in the UK craving a number 1 which only sells 415k? they could have a number 50 which sells 600k+ it's a joke that their American journey didn't progress even if they did wait until after Rochelle's pregnancy or Frankie's, who ever? who even knows who was and wasn't pregnant by this point.

The fact they haven't wholeheartedly ventured into any other country apart from the UK (and Ireland to a lesser extent) is such a waste as songs like Ego, Higher, All Fired Up and What About Us could have been hits in some countries and therefore they wouldn't be relying on the UK so much. I think this pre-Greatest Hits phase is much like 2012 and WAWF is like 30 Days as someone said and we won't get music for a while now with Frankie doing Strictly, Una doing the Voice In Ireland & giving birth and the other three doing smaller projects such as Mollie and Rochelle's fashion lines. Unless they release a crappy xmas album. But hopefully once this break if I can call it that is over they have an album just as good as On Your Radar which will be ready and released and hopefully the singles are actually chosen carefully and not what sounds best as soon as they've recorded it. They have the potential and I don't actually think it's their fault. Yes other projects don't help but the tour seems to have brought them so much joy I just can't imaging them wanting to split at this point. I think the label really need to change or get involved more with the girls and actually make profitable money.

List of what they need to do if they want to succeed again:

1. Sack Peter, Bring Back Jayne :kink: i say this half-heartily true but they reallly do need a better manager or at least be managed better.

2. Improve dancing incredibly and dancing in sync (The Not Giving Up video would be 10x if they were all in sync)

3. Improve vocals (especially Frankie/Mollie) and harmonies (even though harmonies are generally good, THIS COULD BE THEIR SELLING POINT IF IMPROVED)

4. Give the girls pure catchy pop songs which people can identify with the girls, nothing too deep but nothing like WAWF/Gentleman. Something memorable.

5. Get Ina and Steve Mac back on board. Not 100% but enough, something like their contribution on On Your Radar.

6. Plan out promotional tours and single releases way beforehand so the girls can get effective promotion.

7. Genuine Hard work. The talent is there but some times the girls lack energy which is shame because when they are full of energy, they're incredible

8. Learn to sacrifice their personal lives, their families will be there forever, will their careers?

9. Find a style which fits the band and isn't something grannies would wear a.k.a bring back the Up tights ASAP!

10. Stop miming. I'd rather a rubbish singer who has the balls and honesty to f**k it all up then some predictable miming girlband. They're not even bad live and the recent tour is proof of that! I think it's just confidence issues tbh.

You do realise they'll never do any of the things you listed right?

They're lazy and we know it,I doubt that's going to change even after their 3rd flop album in a row

They shouldn't have gotten rid of Jayne in the first place. Okay their second album flopped but she gave them their first platinum album and they were literally everywhere.
But I think Jayne had big plans for Wordshaker such as the release of Here Standing and One Shot, which would have probably got Wordshaker to Gold certification atleast I think! But they lost faith, rushed into Headlines which did great for them, however as a full album would have been amazing, then maybe after the success of the first 3, On Your Radar wouldn't have been such a mess either, they have such a messy discography when it could have been so simple!

People need realize that the girls are the first ones who don't want to change their current status. They and their team work as a family and a more hectic schedule, with a management that only works for its own benefit, would have probably destroyed them years ago, like it has destroyed most groups in history.

You beg for something different, but we don't know how things could have turned out with other people in charge. Peter has got them international deals, reality shows, producers like Darkchild and Xenomania, collaborations with Flo Rida and Sean Paul, he has launched them individually as celebrities and has made them basically a self-sufficient band.

Let's just appreciate the fact they are one of the longest-running girlgroups of the recent decades and that for some crazy reason they've been able to have six album releases, with a seventh one due in a few months.

Yeah as much as they flop and shit, they're definitely up there with Girls Aloud/Sugababes/Spice Girls as one of the UK's most popular girl bands. Besides Little Mix, no other girl band has arrived and had tours or big success after The Saturdays.
