Haven't updated this for a while. Obviously Tartford have wiped the floor with the competition and have triumphed each and every time over the past year....or more accurately, we've qualified...once.

The widespread Tartphobia looks certain to continue this month with a Hi-Nrg gem. The powers that be wish to let you know that pity votes are quite welcome, we're not above that sort of thing y'know. In other words, a non-vote for Tartford is a vote for racism, and you will rot in hell for all eternity, suffering unimaginable pain and torture forever...or something like that :P :D

Due to civil war, right, left and middle wing coups and an inexplicable rise in expenses regarding our biggest exports fags and alcopops, it is with sad regret to inform everyone that Tartford is no more. As such, our participation in BJSC is over. Please do try not to break down in incolsoble tears.

(in other words, got a very busy few months coming up, so won't have the time to contribute. But wishing everyone has a great BJSC 100.)

Aw, this is a shame to hear. Hope you might be able to find the time to make a return in the future. </3

Haven't updated this for a while, but our return (after a massive two month break) resulted in not only an elusive qualifier, but an actual Top 20 placing for Maria Nayler's Naked And Sacred. 14th to be precise!

And now onto our latest entry - Vera Blue's Lady Powers. A quick glance at the predictions thread shows a 100% qualifier prediction :o , which probably means it will flop spectacularly, but nevertheless fingers all over Tartford are crossed that we could achieve a second consecutive qualifier. Stranger things have happened.

Do feel free to hype away :P

A second qualifier in a row. And some strong predictions for Lady Powers to do quite well. At one stage, we were 4th! Everyone in Poor Brave Tartford were euphoric and screaming "could we ACTUALLY get our first ever Top 10 placing ten years after our debut? Could we? COULD WE?!!!!......"

No.

We came a respectable 21st. Thanks to everyone who voted.

The campaign for Tartford to finally get a top ten hit in BJSC in 2018 starts now!

:w00t: An actual 3rd qualifier in a row! Tartfordphobia seemingly taking a back seat for the moment. Hoorah!

Your guess is as good as mine as to where the brilliant Post Precious - Lose Myself will end up in the final. We are still of course waiting for our first Top Ten hit. Will it happen finally this month?....

...probably not. But a Q is, regardless, a success for our often undervalued poor, trashy and scummy country.

I'm gonna be optimistic and predict 27th. (First number that popped into my head.) :D

Predictions were high! In fact, all but one country who posted their predictions for the BJSC 104 final had us down as ending up somewhere in the Top Ten. We were ecstatic and foaming at the mouth wondering where we would land. So where in the Top Ten did we end up?....

23rd.

Scummè Wartťface, head of the Tartford Song Entry Committee says "what do we have to do to get a top tenner? We've tried everything! Bribery, threats of violence, begging. We've even sent the occasional good song!"

Surely Poor Brave Tartford holds the record of longest wait for a Top Ten placer? We will get there one day!

Nevertheless, we achieved our third qualifier in a row which is our joint longest streak, and yes we are aiming for a 4th! And we have a retro banger lined up which will hopefully achieve that. Watch this space and all that... :music:

Just checked and it appears you did recently overtake N-Lazone to claim the record for most entries without a top 10. Hey, at least it's a record? :P

2018 is bringing lots of long awaited new peaks so far, it can surely only be a matter of time before Tartford are the next to manage it :o

A quick update - since the last post, Poor Brave Tartford have DNQ'd twice and actually made the final twice. What are the odds of that happening?!!!! :o

2018 is already proving to be Tartford's most successful BJSC year ever, with 5 qualifiers and just 2 DNQs. Next up is our 50th anniversary contest, so naturally we've decided to use this to our (potential) advantage and re-send this previously vetoed gem:

Could a 6th qualifier for this year actually happen? (would say 'could a Top Ten finish FINALLY happen?', but that will never ever happen of course  )

I believe in this to give Tartford a first top 10 hit! (Mylo should have done it last month tho)
If this doesn't go top 10 then I really will give up BJSC

i wouldn't count out a hit for this to be honest!

Ooh hype! :o Thanks guys. I don't share your confidence, but got all fingers crossed. Watch it DNQ spectacularly now

So, since we last met:

We got a Top 20 with Mylo. (Will that Top 10 ever happen?!!!)

Then for our 50th anniversary we went with an 80s European smash. Deemed to fail surely!.......

No! Instead, the day finally came! Exactly 10 years since our debut - with our 50th entry came our long awaited first ever (and probably last ever) TOP TEN SMASH!!!!!!! :w00t: :cheer: :yahoo: Ofra came eighth - a result we were absolutely thrilled with.

2018 has already proved to be Tartford's best ever year. Now can we end it in style with a 4th qualifier in a row and a 7th for the year?......

Fingers crossed then for Craig Armstrong ft Elizabeth Fraser then

Tartford have really been on a roll in these last few entries of the year, fantastic of course that Ofra got you that top 10 and I am absolutely adoring 'This Love' quite possibly your best entry to date.

The impossible has happened! We got our 4th consecutive qualifier! :o :w00t: So, Tartford 2018 has seen 7 Qs, 2 DNQs and 1 absence. 3 of the 7 which made it made it into the Top 20, with 1 FINALLY granting us a place in the Top Ten. Due to Tartford being somewhat 'on a roll' currently, could we get back to back Top 10s?

Don't be ridiculous! But 23rd was higher than anticipated, so still a success as far as we're convinced. And with that, we scored our 20th qualifier in all - here they all are (a 'Greatest Hits' compilation if you like):

08 Ofra Haza: Im Nin'Alu

11 Marsheaux: Safe Tonight

14 Maria Nayler: Naked & Sacred

17 Son Lux: You Don't Know Me

19 Mylo: Need You Tonite

21 Vera Blue: Lady Powers

22 Maria Hazell: Say It Like You Mean It

23 Post Precious: Lose Myself

23 Craig Armstrong ft Elizabeth Fraser: This Love

23 Crystal Castles: Concrete

23 Maria Hazell: Killing All My Darlings

25 Cigarettes After Sex: Nothing's Gonna Hurt You Baby

26 Florrie: Hungry Like A Wolf

28 Humate: Love Stimulation

30 Sky Ferreira: Dynamite State

32 Sons Of Sonix ft Melanie C: Numb

32 Metronomy: The Look

33 Cigarettes After Sex: Keep On Loving You

41 Alex Gaudino & Jerma: Reaction

52 Belinda Carlisle: Goodbye Just Go *

* One Big Final - came last, so doesn't really qualify as a proper qualifier, but as Poor Brave Tartford have far more DNQs than Qs I'm including it. So there!

And just in case anyone might be vaguely interested, here's how we voted in the BJSC110 final:
