I've not really ever listened to 'Borderline' out of choice yet it's lovely to hear it when it comes on TV or radio. Soft and reserved, good example of a case of less being more.

If it's bitter at the start, then it's sweeter in the end

| 18 // Get Together // Confessions on a Dancefloor // 8.03 (3: fgiboy, 4: jonjo // 11: titty, jakewild, 10: nickf1, luciano, leww, jark, gavindeejay, haus, mikemyers, sweetcandy, casey)

'Confessions on a Dancefloor' makes its first appearance, as the album manages the impressive feat of getting all of its singles top 20. And thankfully, its weakest single comes up first as 'Get Together' crashes out and off the dancefloor. Calling it 'weak' by any means is an absolute farce though, because the song is absolutely divine and just shows the strength of its parent album. A song that transports you to a seedy dancefloor, with glancing eyes darting across and just falling in love with everyone there through the hypnotic sounds. It was released as the album's third single after it proved to be popular, and it went on to become a dancefloor smash even if it didn't impact the charts as much as it should have. Nominated for a Grammy award for Best Dance Recording, the song was accompanied with a morphed music video of a live performance of the song (in a London club as it happens). I have an insane amount of love for everything off the album, and this is one of the many 10/10 moments from it. Sandwiched between the two louder, more well-known singles, it can be easy to bypass it as a Madonna classic, but it has all the makings to be one of them. I hope you feel the same way too~

Glad to see that as the lowest COADF single. It's great (it is off the greatest album ever made after all), but I've never GOT IT in the way so many others seem to have done.

have i ever told you i love you

we actually snap on our favourite song / album of all-time, just after that the connection DROPS!

WOT!?

Was not expecting this to miss the Top 10 so to see it at #18 is pretty shocking! At least it's the weakest of the four Confessions singles (although like you say Haus, it's still bloody brilliant!). I did use to not appreciate it as much as I do now due to it being between 'Hung Up' and 'Sorry' and they're two of the best songs of Madonna's career, but it's a highlight of the album now (well it's an album solely of highlights so it's a higher highlight! :P).

We will always have COADF and twin

OMG love Borderline and so happy it made top 20, Get Together another stunning track, wish I gave it a 10, but Confessions to win in the albums, and backing Like A Prayer to win the singles
Surprised "Get Together" so high! I know it's popular on here, but I didn't think it would break the top 20. It's good, but definitely the weakest single from the album.

Get Together is the best track on COADF.

True Madonna classic

Get Together is amazing and I hear nothing seedy in it. It's more ethereal, sophisticated to these ears.

Like a Virgin should have been top ten for sure. The Confessions tour mix... *dies*

The CT version is the definitive one for me too. I think a Stuart Price remix album of her 80's HITS (and others) would be INCREDIBLE given the wonders he worked with Lucky Star too.

Get together is so much better then jump !!!

This is the most brilliant idea EVER. :o

Disagreed.

'Get Together' being a single did help me get into it, but 'Jump' was my clear favourite the moment I first played Confessions through.

Get Together >>> Sorry >>> Jump >>> Hung Up

REPENT, IN THE NAME OF BRITNEY.

Tell me love isn't true, it's just something that we do

The final song from Madonna's eighth studio album, 'Music' crashes out. Released as the second single, it is a triumphant, empowering country-dance song and most certainly an album highlight. Another huge commercial success following on the album's debut single, it was also met with critical appraisal and swept up award nominations primarily for the music video which features Madonna donning her best cowgirl outfit in yet another iconic look; a simple concept so wonderfully executed - the final minute in particular is so poignant. The song also helped cement yet further accolades in Madonna's record books as it allowed her to tie with the Beatles (and second to Elvis Presley) for most Billboard top 10 singles and most Gold certified singles. Most recently, Madonna teamed up with Miley Cyrus as they mashed it up with 'We Can't Stop', starting horrifying rumours about a potential collaboration on #13..

I think 'Don't Tell Me' has become somewhat of a classic within Madonna's discography as it seems to be a strong fan favourite. I love that jolty guitar and the string sounds that appear over it further into the song; a really stunning track. I think all the guitar tracks on the album ('I Deserve It', 'Gone') are particular highlights.
