Posted March 26, 200619 yr Virgin.net Duran Duran make worst album ever A covers record by Eighties favourites Duran Duran has been voted the worst album of all time. The 1995 release 'Thank You', which saw the Birmingham band covering songs by the likes of Lou Reed, Bob Dylan and Public Enemy, was given the dubious honour by writers of the respected Q music magazine. Second spot in the list went to all of the Spice Girls and their separate attempts at solo albums, while 'Urban Renewal' - a Phil Collins tribute album by hip-hop artists - was third. Deputy editor of Q, Gareth Grundy, said: "The list is a mixture of the unspeakable and those ridiculous acts of hubris, although we tried not to pick on the obvious soft targets. "Duran Duran was the one that united everyone in agreement. We put it on in the office to remind ourselves how bad it was. Sometimes these things are redeemed by some sort of kitsch or novelty value, but it didn't even have that. "It's not funny for even a split second and not even the sort of thing that you would put on for a laugh if you were drunk. "It is abysmal on every level, as befits an album where you have Simon Le Bon trying to cover Public Enemy." The worst 10 albums of all time, according to Q magazine are: 1. Duran Duran - Thank You 2. Spice Girls - Any of their solo albums 3. Various Artists - Urban Renewal 4. Lou Reed - Metal Machine Music 5. Billy Idol - Cyberpunk 6. Naomi Campbell - Baby Woman 7. Kevin Rowland - My Beauty 8. Mick Jagger - Primitive Cool 9. Westlife - Allow Us to Be Frank 10. Tin Machine - Tin Machine II What do you think of this list? Do you own any of these Worst (bottom) 10 Albums? What albums do you think should be on this list or vice-versa?
March 26, 200619 yr Virgin.net Duran Duran make worst album ever 4. Lou Reed - Metal Machine Music What do you think of this list? Do you own any of these Worst (bottom) 10 Albums? What albums do you think should be on this list or vice-versa? I think this Should this not be on the list as i think it was a piss take and an attempt to sod off the record company.
March 26, 200619 yr Westlife - Allow us to be frank????? It's a great album. Then why has it been voted 9th worst
March 26, 200619 yr Westlife - Allow us to be frank????? It's a great album. Allow me to be frank, I thought it was crap compared to another Frank (Sinatra), plus they looked ridiculous in the videos, in my opinion obviously, It still sold a fair few though.
March 26, 200619 yr Some of the Spice girls solo albums have been good. I really don't see the point of magazines doing 'best/worst albums ever' Everybody has their own taste, and im sure lots of people will disagree with this one
March 26, 200619 yr Author I own Duran Duran's Thank You & Tin Machine II albums. While the Duran Duran album does have a lot of dodgy covers on it - particularly Public Enemy's 911 is a Joke & Led Zeppelin's Thank You, there are a few good tracks IMHO - Bob Dylan's Lay Lady Lay, Lou Reed's Perfect Day & The Doors' Crystal Ship. Likewise Tin Machine II is not a good album but David Bowie's Tonight album is his all-time career low. I also think including The Spice Girls solo albums is a very cheap shot.
March 26, 200619 yr I own the Duran Duran Album, admits with dignity still in intact, mind you I was a big Duran Duran fan in the 80s and still am
March 27, 200619 yr Any Westlife album could be in there, but that one has the best pun title :D :D :D
March 27, 200619 yr Yeah? Westlife made a great title for this album. it's the best title ever heard. And also Coast to Coast, and World of our own, and face to face, all their titles are great with fantastic songs in them!
March 27, 200619 yr Good to see Westlife in there, that album is AWFUL. Mel C's first album is pretty good, slighly less deserving being in there than the others, imo.
