August 28, 201410 yr It's great that Taylor has hit number 1!!! What's even more impressive is that the song isn't even on Spotify and it still managed number 1 without it. No doubt the large Youtube/VEVO streams contributed but still great nonetheless. Moreover, I think it's been a while where an artist debuted at the top spot on Hot 100 with the song selling 400k/500k+ in its opening week (and being number 1 on Digital Songs)!! Roar started at number 2, despite a 550k+ opener. Problem entered at number 3 with 400k+ sales (though the chart points were really close by a fraction between the three songs that week). August 28, 201410 yr I can't believe the love for Anaconda on this forum!! Nicki does her thing fine, I admit, but the song's production and marketing campaign (i.e., controversial ass shaking) is totally derivative and completely lazy. But I guess if you weren't around when Baby Got Back was a phenomenon then it's new to you. I certainly hope Mix a Lot is making a mint from the royalties because he is 90% responsible for this song's success. QFT.
August 28, 201410 yr It's great that Taylor has hit number 1!!! What's even more impressive is that the song isn't even on Spotify and it still managed number 1 without it. It was more to do with airplay as Problem and Roar (although built up very quickly on it) had to climb up and garner airplay whilst Taylor has had pretty much instant airplay which has caused her to go to #1 Well that what I think anyways :P
August 28, 201410 yr Well the video airplay was massive, as were the sales. Airplay has obviously helped her but if it wasn't so massive I think she still would've made it there
August 28, 201410 yr I think Meghan will still get #1, maybe the week after next with Taylor getting a 2nd week. Lol at Wiz Khalifa dominating Bubbling Under.
August 29, 201410 yr I think Taylor is likely to get a second week at number 1. What happens the week after could get interesting. Kworb sales estimates: Shake It Off - 410k All About That Bass - 274k Bang Bang - 267k Anaconda - 202k Bang Bang and Anaconda sales are obviously boosted by the VMAs effect (with SIO's retention being quite impressive after the VMAs). Which means Stay With Me's chances at being number 1 is over. Edited August 29, 201410 yr by buzz_person

September 2, 201410 yr Author Oh, and Bastille fell of the chart this week. Pompeii spent 53 weeks on the Hot 100.
September 2, 201410 yr Obviously it's rare for two songs to enter the top two in the same week. The last time it happened was 3 1/2 years ago, in 2011, with 'Born This Way' and 'Firework' replacing 'Black & Yellow' and 'Grenade' respectively. But 'Firework' was actually climbing back into the top two, so I'd have to check further to find the last time two entirely new songs entered the top two in the same week. The last two songs to drop 1-5 were 'Wrecking Ball' last December and 'Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)' in 2011.
September 2, 201410 yr KATY PERRY - Part Of Me - 411,000 - (2012/03/03)This should have a 'debut' tag too!
