I wonder how long this will take to sell more than On Your Radar's first week sales of just over 18,000? :drama: :snif:

And we thought the sales of 'On Your Radar' and 'Wordshaker' were bad ...... (well, they were  )

They could've saved On Your Radar if they had decided to continue with the Era! Two more singles after MHTO and then a re-release led by 30 days, ending the era after that would've given them about 110-150k in sales which wouldn't have been that bad.

This was my plan for them... Faster and Get Ready, Get Set rerelease then next album! There was such a gap for them which they didn't need!

As much as I love On The Radar and as much as it had killer potential singles left, I really think they did the right thing ending it there and then. If they'd have pushed for another single it probably would have done a 'What Are You Waiting For' and that would have damaged them even more at that point.

Further singles don't guarantee anything. Not Giving Up didn't do a thing for Living For The Weekend, and it was more loved than almost any track on On You Radar.

People may not prefer it, but with 30 Days they got a new top10, better sales than the previous single, and after saving their face they landed a reality show and got a #1 single...so it's not like things didn't go well for them.

To be fair, Not Giving Up went top 20 with literally no airplay. They still had BBC Radio One support in 2011 and 2012 so who knows how extending their campaign for OYR would've done. I don't think many people outside their fanbase even new about NGU which translated to the fact that LFTW only had 120 sales that week.

When I look back at 30 days and everyone's disappointment, I actually think it has done much better than other girl group singles (well not Little Mix, but Neon Jungle, Stooshe's later singles, parade etc.) and did improve on previous sales even if it was still underwhelming. I wonder if it could go 100k in the next 5-7 years or so

They actually were a pretty great singles act (for a girl group) up until Disco Love. Who knows, maybe just maybe they'll have another decent hit.

The fact they're actually helping to shift a lot more of those watches shows they're still marketable to companies that may potentially want to use them; this means more music ofcourse. :D

Does anyone know if Radio 1 is still playing Disco Love? I'm sure they'll be able to book their song premiere slots on Radio 1 and Capital and probably get booked in for random things (like when Mollie and Vanessa flirted with that guy, Mollie done Call or Delete and they had the Sats Takeover day) but I wonder what they need to do to get playlisted and actually played again??

they haven't played it in a while, no. I don't think the Saturdays exist on radio world anymore

I was genuinely surprised/ happy when I heard this news :D

This isn't entirely accurate, but shows more or less every occasion that it's been played http://www.last.fm/user/bbcradio1/library/...ys/_/Disco+Love

I agree that 30 Days was a necessary release and helped keep them in the public eye. It was their last single before What About Us. So who knows, maybe that wouldn't have gone #1 had 30 Days not set it up for that.

Nothing was going to recover them after Gentleman. I think Disco Love was a lucky release. Had Disco Love actually "saved" them then album sales wouldn't have been so dismal. It's too bad they released Gentleman on such a busy week as based on its opening sales it should've been an easy Top 10. But even that is lackluster coming after a #1.

To be fair on them, no other artist would have been able to go near the top 40 with Gentleman :D

Rihanna, Katy and Gaga would've :smoke:

Rihanna has had a lot of songs miss the top 40, I dont think she would have made it with Gentleman either.

Anyone else ever thought Gentleman would have been better for Little Mix?

She would've with a pre-album single

Lady Gaga? General public interest in her is just about as low as the sats

You seem to forget her rabid fanbase that can get anything she releases pre-album into the top 40.

But let's keep it on The Sats
