Rochelle slays the middle 8 live. She puts so much emotion into it, which is quite rare for her.

And how she ends her last note in the AOL session

Haha I love how confused we are. I praise the writers if it is "I'm a lost soul"; that is one great metaphor.

This is so true.

Frankie's verse is at too low a key right? I don't think she's comfortable in that range unless she's actually resonating her voice like in Lies ().

Which is a bit shocking coming from Vanessa as she usually turns every just slightly sad lyrics to something really emotional (although a bit less than Una who is just perfect at that.

The lyrics to 'Missing You' have so much potential, that's why it's bugging so much that the song just doesn't live up to it all. -_-

The way the lyrics are written, it could actually be sung in a half-nonchalant/half-nostalgic (
doesn't mean
bored or dull!) way, like you've just given up on everything. Not the whole
"agressive-I don't care anymore-Cheryl-Cole"
kind of vocals, don't get me wrong. But I would have loved them to emote so well that you could feel like they are
drained
for trying so long to recandle the passion that was / to make this doomed relationship works, that you could feel that now they are just watching it fall appart in a
"what is there left to do at this point anyway?"
mood, to feel like there really isn't anything left between them and they can't even be bothered to miss "missing their loved one".

Combine that with a more dark and hunting production and it would probably have been much better right away.

I actually think she's the one emoting the best in that song as well. Her little part on the (second) chorus completely slays Vanessa and Rochelle's.

And, no, I don't believe so. I'm pretty sure Frankie's at the same key as the second verse, but even if she wasn't, that really isn't that low (even for her). However, her verse on 'Lies' sounds more like how her verse on 'Missing You' should have been. Probably one of her best vocals, no?

Frankie messing up even when they're miming! :drama:

You mean during the part where the sing the same lyrics over and over again?

I love Missing You, I hate when they do it acoustically though as Una goes "I'm Missing You" lots at the start, and that's really the opposite of what the song is about.

On the tour, I actually asked Una in person about the WTTD lyrics as it was annoying the hell out of me. She said it's "a lost soul walking through...".

I'm surprised she even knew :kink:

Not as bad as Mollie who misses her last line in the second verse in every performance! Trying to steal the lines of others yet forgetting her own...

I can't with her sometimes.

Pixie Lott's GH album has just missed the top100 on its first week. It's yet another event that makes you see the group's history through a different perspective.

That said, if Pixie hasn't been able to give any boost to her career from Strictly, there is probably no hope that the group's profile will be reinforced either.

Probably true.

Plus Frankie is on her own, she's barely representing the group (I mean, 1/5 !) while Pixie is directly representing herself. Of course, they introduce Frankie by mentioning she's from The Saturdays every week, but that's nothing, really.

I hope that's subliminally fed into viewers though! That way at least they're aware of their sheer existence.

Actually quite shocked by that! But also grateful the Sats are still managing Top 10 albums, even if they're plummeting after release week. While 15-25k for an album is quite pathetic, that would translate to at least 30-50k a few years back which isn't terrible.

I didn't expect Strictly to have much impact on the Sats' career anyway after their performance barely moved What About Us up the iTunes chart. It's just not their target audience. I do think whoever wins will benefit from a lot of press and hype though. Fingers crossed it's Frankie!

Whoever wins won't generally have must of a boost in their already released stuff. But it does help them with a bigger support and audience if they release something new soon after.

What I never understood about this release was that it done SO well on pre-orders. I mean, didn't it enter the top 100 before it was even released? It definitely looked like a potential #1 candidate based on pre-orders and yet the first midweeks had it at #6. :( I guess the pre-order sales were atrocious.

However, this is a Greatest Hits album so if The Sats do continue and somehow have success agan, this is more likely to pick up sales and re-chart again in future than a normal studio album. Greatest Hits albums are usually consistant sellers and enter/re-enter the charts for years if an artist continues with their career and becomes relevant again. I doubt it would ever even go Gold but if The Sats returned in the future with some minor success I could definitely see this re-entering the top 100 at least.

They've not actually flopped that bad in comparison to artists that have had a much higher budget / bigger promotion.

I was hoping for an iTunes advertisement discount around now.

I remember next week a year ago LFTW was advertised for £4.99 and climbed soooo much, but just as it was about to go top 100 on iTunes, on Friday Morning iTunes was taken over by Beyonce and her surprise album, and the album free-fell out of the top 1,500 again. lol

if Cheryl Cole with 2 no.1 singles and all the media in the world can only manage 2 weeks inside the Top 40, what hope do the rest of popstars have?

also didn't Sophie Ellis Bextor do quite well with her post-SCD album?

iTunes is not so representative of album sales as it is for singles. It can be very deceiving if you are used to the singles chart.

Especially during this time of year when physical sales shoot up. Britney's last album reached #2 if I'm not mistaken but debuted at #34. It did simultaneously reach #7 on the album download charts, so I guess that illustrates my point.

Correct me If I'm wrong but I think to get a top 5 you usually need to be about #70-40 on pre-orders by sunday before release (depending on the competition) on itunes. If there had been little competition (which there was a lot of that week) then they would have gotten to about #6ish by sunday :( Then again, I think physical sales also let it down

The low physical sales did shock me though, because they sold it with the tour tickets and they had about 3 or 4 versions of the album.

Sadly they're not quite comparable, unless The Sats end up going down the MOR route and get Radio 2 support :kink:
