September 23, 201411 yr Truly dire result for Gaga, are ANY of her fans even buying it because it seems to me like it's only (half of) Tony's remaining fanbase buying this :o
September 23, 201411 yr Hopefully Taylor can hang onto top 3 this week now that she has streaming to help her. It's going to be very close between her and Calvin but whatever happens, she'll be climbing back into the top 4 yet again!
September 23, 201411 yr Disastrous start for Lady Gaga, i believed she had enough of a loyal fanbase left to secure her a top 10. I know fans of Madonna and Kylie have been left disappointed by their album performances in the last while but those 2 are doing the business for 25 years and over and can still manage number 1 and number 2 albums, Lady Gaga came so big but appears to be falling even faster. And to clarify i do like Lady Gaga myself. Big drop for the Script, my hopes for this album is for it to make platinum and not in my wildest dreams would i have expected Erasure to be higher than Lady Gaga on the midweeks, that is Erasures best performance in years although i suspect they will drop and drop as the week moves forward. Hozier still in the chart, keep climbing :yahoo: and Ella Henderson re-climbing, i have high hopes this will become a million seller.
September 23, 201411 yr Damn, no chart update play for Carrie tomorrow then :( Still though, should be on lock to become her first top 100 hit :D what Carrie song is at #40?
September 23, 201411 yr what Carrie song is at #40? I Know You Won't! Performed on X Factor at the weekend :D
September 23, 201411 yr The reason why Cheek To Cheek is low is because the majority of the physicals have only been stocked today! (MESS) That position is based almost entirely on iTunes pre-orders and to be fair it has only briefly been in the iTunes top 10, it should climb right up until the weekend! :cheer: :cheer:

September 23, 201411 yr Truly dire result for Gaga, are ANY of her fans even buying it because it seems to me like it's only (half of) Tony's remaining fanbase buying this :o I've always felt this was a bizarre project in commercial terms because it doesn't seem there's a market for it outside of absolute die-hard fans. Are Tony Bennett fans (!) in any way interested in Lady Gaga and are Gaga fans partial to Tony Bennett?! And it's never seemed like a case of the whole being greater than the sum of its parts either, due to the lack of media attention/promotion/hype/irrelevance of the artists involved.
September 23, 201411 yr Who are you trying to kid? I'm not from the UK so I wouldn't know but if you go look on twitter and the Gaga fansites, a lot of the UK monsters are complaining about this!
September 23, 201411 yr #32 Hopefully another week top 40 then :D Edited September 23, 201411 yr by Regina
September 23, 201411 yr Author Who are you trying to kid? It's pretty logical, if Gaga/Tony are at #12 on pretty much just downloads then it will be boosted well with the addition of physicals. No surprise to see alt-J at #1, not keen on their music this time round but considering the hype for the band they deserve good chart success. Would have thought Professor Green would have been higher but I suppose sales in general are going to be bigger than usual. I'm sure Sigma/Paloma managed over 50k on the first update so it's a good start for Jessie and co., although I think they may not manage 100k, just don't think they'd hold up as well.
September 23, 201411 yr That's the only thing that makes sense to me right now why CTC is at #12, because it's basically been #11 on iTunes since its release so surely that is downloads only? The physical sales should be huge and I've seen many little monsters complaining that stores haven't stocked the physical yet!

Physicals count for more sales than downloads, so if it had been at around #11 on iTunes since its release, it probably wouldn't even be close to #12 yet. If stores aren't stocking the physical now, they won't be this week.

I think No.11 on the iTunes album chart would probably only equate to a couple of hundred sales a day, if that. It's true that the some of the supermarkets are avoiding it (which seems odd as they usually stock Tony's albums, and obviously Gaga's) but it's definitely around in HMV and from online retailers. Quite a gutting position :(
September 23, 201411 yr New Alt-J album is incredible, musically so creative and adventurous compared to what I expected given the pressure on the record after An Awesome Wave. Hope it stays on for #1
September 23, 201411 yr NEVERMIND I've just read that 97% of Cheek To Cheek's sales are physicals http://h3.abload.de/img/3neay.gif CAN I DIE NOW PLEASE RIP
