Ooh

Toxic

is being performed by probably the most talked about contestant this year so far on X-Factor

Hopefully one of the best songs ever gets a boost then

I can't wait to hear

Changing, AATB, Ghost, Kids In America

so I hope they all get boosts

Which artist had a #1 album on billboard last week with a genre that is way out of their usual stuff genres.

Gaga so she is way bigger still. Jeremih might have a #2 single at the moment but I am sure lots more people know about cheek to cheek

And loads of people still talk about her, there was like a 10 minute conversation in my music class a couple of weeks ago about poker face

Aha I agreed that GaGa is bigger than Jeremih, but that's not exactly saying much!! Seems pointless saying this, but she just seemed a flash in the pan from 2009 with diminishing returns ever since.

Somebody is going to murder a Kim Wilde classic -_- :(

How are WW sales for Born This Way (6 million) and ARTPOP (2 million) flash in the pan? If Jeremih's music was more culturally relevant as you say, surely he'd have #1 album after #1 album, a 50+ million strong fanbase, 5 grammys, sell-out WW tour after sell-out WW tour?

Sure she isn't on the same form as her debut era, but which artist around at the moment will be able to equally sustain an era of that degree of success? I also can't think of another mainstream artist who'd be able to amount of the success Gaga has had over the last two weeks with a Jazz album consisting entirely of covers. Gaga irrelevant? HARDLY.

What is it with GaGa fans and constantly bringing up stars and numbers that aren't even relevant to the conversation? GaGa was MASSIVE in 2009/2010 (definitely the biggest pop star on the planet) but Born This Way failed to catapult her any higher and actually lost her fans and showed that she was just a fluke. ArtPop was hyped up for months as being an incredible work of art by GaGa yet it was quite simply (just like her other releases) a pop album. She didn't have a hit in 2012, had a mediocre hit in 2013 and hasn't had a hit in 2014 so I think it's easy to say there's a huge lack of interest in her. She can try all the shock tactics, crazy outfits, speeches, self indulgent music videos and social media hype she wants but her time as a huge pop star has gone.

woo, come on I need that top 40 re-entry :D

I don't even know why I bother with ignorant posters like you, it's common sense that Lady Gaga is relevant hence why I stated her sales etc as they manifest that, you and a few others deeming JEREMIH more relevant than her are the flukes.

When you're filling arenas and topping the charts, you're relevant no matter what way you look at it. People bitching about her "flopping" can't even get 100 likes on a Tumblr post.

I don't really get why Lady Gaga was brought up at all (thanks Eric_blob for the meaningless comparison Jeremih/Lady Gaga :heehee:)

Who's culturally relevant this year? Well certainly not Jeremih. Don't tell 'Em is a good song but nothing more.

Relevant is this year Ed Sheeran, George Ezra, Sam Smith, Coldplay or even Pharrell Williams in my opinion (of course) :D

Don't think I've heard any of this number 1 album she's got out atm, is it on the radio/music channels or anything!? When there's Sam Smith and Ed Sheeran enjoying all their success, dance music topping charts worldwide and genres like Hip Hop, R&B, Grime and Afrobeats making inroads back into the mainstream, its hard to argue Lady GaGa is still the trendsetting and relevant star she once was :)

It's a side project thing. I'm a Gaga fan and not remotely interested in it, but you have to admit, to get an album of jazz songs with an old man top 10 (and #1 in the US) is a pretty good achievement really, especially as she isn't as popular as she once was.

Why are we arguing about Lady Gaga? She was once the biggest pop star on the planet, now she's not, end of.

Anyway I'm looking forward to hearing

Toxic

on the X Factor, though I'm not fussed about all the

recent #1s

mentioned that are gonna be performed.

Hahaha! The Tony Bennett shade!

Bennett does not interest me in the SLIGHTEST, but he's a bit of name and people with certain demographics, so some of the sales would have been for him not her.

I do hope Gaga can manage another hit single though, when she was on her game she churned out some proper bangers. I fear for her future radio support.

Somebody is going to murder a Kim Wilde classic -_- :(

I'm sure One Direction did the year they were on

Ah right, in which case that's an impressive feat, especially since its only likely to have got there on her name alone.

I don't hate GaGa, I just think people have moved on from the type of music she's famous for. As such an 'icon' of that time period, its only natural interest in her dies down as well.

a 50+ million strong fanbase

(Sort of off the point but) number of Twitter followers does not a fanbase make.

People claiming Jeremih to be more relevant than Lady Gaga? How ridiculous.

YG on the other hand, as he's the real reason the song is doing so well...

this is sarcasm
