WOW! WOW! WOW! They were better than ever tonight! Lots of extra musicians including a small choir, an appearance from the Smoke Fairies (they were on tape on Friday), a few more songs than on Friday making for a set lasting approx 1 3/4 hrs, plus two other surprises. First, J Wilgoose Esq actually addressed the audience himself before the extended encore :o . Second, there was an appearance by the man behind all the recorded announcements

The performance of Gagarin was a particular highlight with a very crowded stage, but the whole gig was, to coin a phase, out of this world.

I can't decide whether to go to the rearranged Nottingham gig or not, I'd say their album is the most disappointing of 2015 and I've no real desire to watch it performed but they are still probably the best act I've ever seen live.

Trust me, it will be worth it :D

J Willgoose Esq. of Public Service Broadcasting is giving a lecture next month in Belfast to talk through the process of recording "The Race For Space" as part of the NI Science Festival. I'm really chuffed to see so much interest in this, and even more to so have grabbed a ticket.

Just back from J Wilgoose's talk about the recording of The Race For Space. A really interesting talk which went into detail as to how the album came together. Some of the interesting tidbits to come out of the talk included -

- Gagarin was inspired by Michael Jackson (it matches the tempo of Smooth Criminal), and the use of guitars was inspired by "Long Train Running" by the Doobie Brothers

- Go!'s rhythm was inspired by "Keep The Car Running" by Arcade Fire

- "E.V.A" was inspired by "Reckoner" by Radiohead, and its original demo had a more swing rhythm to it.

- The guitar part for Gagarin was adapted from an unfinished PSB demo which was written around the subject of Greenwich Mean Time.

- The song that became "Valentina" was originally written to be "Everest".

- There is a 3rd PSB album in the pipeline. The only hint as to what to expect is that it's being recorded "on location".

Thanks for that. The only bit I knew was that there has been some progress on album number three. Sounds like an interesting evening.

They are releasing a DVD of the Briixton gig on 2 December :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

It was one of my favourite ever gigs, so this DVD will be really special :D

PSB posted that they are there watching, I wondered why :P

Also, I don't think there was a thread for it, but the Titanic EP 'White Star Liner' last year was amazing!

White Star Liner was, indeed fantastic.

Yes, I was alerted to the performance by the tweet. The fact that someone later tweeted to say it was at the beginning made it easy to pop on to iPlayer.

Public Service Broadcasting will be performing The Race For Space with an orchestra in a Proms concert at the Albert Hall in July. It is part of a series of events to mark the 50th anniversary of the moon landings. The description suggests that it will also be shown on television.

They've had a headline slot on Newsnight :o

In other news, I tweeted that I had used Go and Geoffrey Went Too Far in lessons and got a Like from the band

The Prom will be broadcast live on Radio 3 on Thursday 25 July at 10;15pm. It will be shown on BBC4 the following evening at 11pm.

Thanks for this reminder, I will make sure I catch the performance on BBC4. 6Music played “Go” on Friday and it sounded as good as ever. : )
