61 - Mis-Teeq - Scandalous

62 - Billie Piper - Day & Night

63 - Kylie Minogue - In Your Eyes

64 - Geri Halliwell - Bag It Up

65 - LMC vs U2 - Take Me To The Clouds Above

66 - Christina Milian - Dip It Low

67 - Brandy - What About Us?

68 - Emma - Free Me

69 - The 411 - On My Knees

70 - Samantha Mumba - Always Come Back To Your Love

Song Of Choice:

70 / My personal favourite Samantha Mumba song is 'Always Come Back To Your Love'! I remember that I was given the CD single of this as one of my 13th birthday presents (23rd February 2001)! Half of my life ago. :drama:

69 / I find it hard to believe that The 411 came and went 10 years ago now. Their debut release 'On My Knees' was a Top 5 hit and it seemed like the UK had discovered its next major girl group since Girls Aloud's formation. Sadly the success story wasn't to last, and by November 2004 the girls were flopping - third single 'Teardrops' missed the Top 20 and their (rather good) debut album 'Between The Sheets' failed to make the Top 40. The girls were subsequently dumped by the label and split in 2005. What a waste! :snif:

68 / Emma Bunton's solo career appeared to be on the rocks after just one album. Despite her debut 'A Girl Like Me' being a Top 5 success and containing the big #1 hit 'What Took You So Long?', the relative flop of 'We're Not Gonna Sleep Tonight' at the end of 2001 was enough for Virgin Records to drop Emma from their label. Well, I think the official line was that they "parted ways". Undeterred, Emma reunited with former Spice Girls manager Simon Fuller and signed a deal with 19 Recordings and Universal. She relaunched her solo career in early 2003 with comeback single 'Free Me'. It was something of a reinvention, with Emma sexing up her image and turning to a 60s sound. It seemed the public approved when the single returned Emma to the Top 5 in June 2003. She's always been my favourite Spice Girl and I'd say that 'Free Me' is my third favourite single of hers.

67 / 'What About Us' would prove to be Brandy's last ever Top 5 hit in the UK; it reached #4 in February 2002. It's my favourite song by her, just ahead of the underrated 'Afrodisiac' & 'The Boy Is Mine' in terms of my top Brandy singles.

64 / This bold and brash single by Geri Halliwell was the only solo Spice Girls song to be performed at the Brit Awards, which really shows how successful Geri was at one point. This was her third consecutive #1 single from her debut album 'Schizophonic'. I can't say I was hugely into Geri's second and third albums, but I was pretty obsessed with 'Schizophonic' in 1999/2000!

62 / Billie Piper became the youngest female in UK chart history to rack up 3 #1 singles - all achieved prior to her 18th birthday! 'Day & Night' became her third #1 back in May 2000, which would be the first single to be taken from her second and final album 'Walk Of Life'. Billie abandoned her music career in 2001 (much to my dismay) after marrying Chris Evans, and would soon turn her attention to acting, which is what she is best known for nowadays. She later revealed that she had never wanted to be a popstar in the first place and that acting was her real passion! Billie was the first female solo artist I was into (I usually leant towards groups in my childhood) and I really enjoyed her two albums! Both peaked at #14, but the debut sold far more than the follow up. 'Honey To The B' was certified platinum (selling a respectable 310,000 copies in 1998 alone) while 'Walk Of Life' attained silver status.

51 - Sugababes - Freak Like Me

52 - Kylie Minogue - Slow

53 - The 411 - Dumb

54 - Britney Spears featuring Madonna - Me Against The Music

55 - Jennifer Lopez - Love Don't Cost A Thing

56 - Blu Cantrell featuring Sean Paul - Breathe

57 - Jennifer Lopez - Play

58 - Sugababes - Stronger

59 - Destiny's Child - Independent Women

60 - Britney Spears - My Prerogative

Song Of Choice:

60 / I remember being very pleased when Britney Spears charted at #3 with this, beating rival Christina Aguilera who had to settle for a place lower with 'Car Wash'. 'Car Wash' just missed out on my Top 500 actually, but 'My Prerogative' makes it as far as the Top 60. 'Me Against The Music' also features in this block of 10, at #54. There's still 7 more Britney singles to be revealed here!

57 / Jennifer Lopez featuring Christina Milian - 'Play' is still one of my absolute favourite J.Lo songs, so I was rather dismayed when this track was left off her recent greatest hits compilation!

53 / 'Dumb' was the second single by The 411 and was a big hit back in the summer of 2004, entering and peaking at #3. That was a position higher than one of Maroon 5's most famous songs, 'She Will Be Loved'. I was pretty obsessed with The 411 back then - I even have a signed sleeve of this single!

Jennifer Lopez Play

I love this song Song so much! My favourite J-Lo with On The Floor. Why wasn't this on her Greatest Hits!? Huge jam.

Amazing section  Totally agree with what Joe said about Play, it was a ridiculous exclusion from her GH!

Independent Women is AMAZING *.*

Oh I LOVED Blu Cantrell's 'Breathe'! Must have a listen to that again.

Goodness knows why it was left off! :( Silly decision. Maybe it's because it only got to #18 in the US, but then again she included songs on the album that did worse than that.

Oh I LOVED Blu Cantrell's 'Breathe'! Must have a listen to that again.

 I was kind of surprised when it reached #1, it seemed to come out of nowhere... and then to spend 4 weeks at #1 was a bit crazy! :o

Slow ❤ Such a gorgeous song x

46 - Steps - Chain Reaction

47 - Sugababes - Round Round

48 - Richard X vs Liberty X - Being Nobody

49 - Sugababes - Too Lost In You

50 - Destiny's Child - Bootylicious

Song Of Choice:

44 / I was quite obsessed with Holly Valance in 2002. It's a pity that her pop career was so short-lived! 'Kiss Kiss' was her debut single, released in May 2002, and entered at #1. Its racy video was a bit of a talking point at my school!

43 / 'Spinning Around' is the song which introduced me to Kylie Minogue. I was only 12 when this came out and didn't really know who she was, let alone that she'd become famous before I was even born!

42 / For a moment in time Jamelia was one of Britain's most successful female solo artists, and her major boost in commercial success came with 2003's 'Superstar'. She had achieved a #5 hit in 2000 with 'Money', but her career dipped after that seemingly fluke success. Jamelia's success with 'Thank You' was a bit of a fluke too, given that her 2006 album 'Walk With Me' wasn't particularly successful. :(

41 / Fragma's 'Toca's Miracle' is probably the first dance song I was ever into. This is the 2000 released version by the way, far superior to the 2008 version in my opinion.

It really is! I'm not sure if its underrated with the fan base but it doesn't seem to be all that celebrated. It should be though. Was amazing to see her perform it during her latest tour. :D

Freak like me is amazing and reach is a pop classic for me, I adore that song

Great countdown so far jayeux noël

EDIT: And superstar is fabulous

Edited by Ultraviolence1989

Kiss Kiss  Only really been familiar with that properly for about a year or so lol despite being vaguely aware of its existence in the past. YAY for Superstar, Spinning Around, Round Round, Bootylicious and Reach

I love "Play" so much! I can't believe J.LO didn't add it to her Greatest Hits album. I also love Britney's My Prerogative, it's a great cover to a FANTASTIC Greatest Hits

I loved Chain Reaction. The production on that song was just incredible. Takes me back to Xmas 2001

And I also love Being Nobody  The 00's where just filled with great cover versions

I agree Spiral, pop artists were so good at cover versions back in the day (give or take Westlife :kink: ). 'Chain Reaction' is definitely one of Steps' most definitive singles for me. Towards the end of the song when the key keeps going higher is pretty glorious!

Your taste is incredible, Jay

From the current section I love: 'Toca's Miracle', 'Kiss Kiss' and 'Too Lost in You' the most.
