So, Jack Ü won't be top 40 this sunday. Not sure about Alexa Goddard though. :(

Since Ed is also No1 on spotify now can we add 10-15k to this midweek total? The final sales each week seem to be higher than expected leading me to think that streams arent added? Eg last friday in the mids Meghan was on 51k making everyone think she would struggle to make 75k and she ended up on 82k.

Very impressive sales for Taylor. Good to see another 'big selling' album come along. With the christmas sales to come should easily clear 500,000

They are added to each midweek update. More people are at home listening to music or having parties at the weekend, hence Friday night and Saturday are streaming's biggest days.

Suppose that makes sense, just seemed like the final figure was usually well ahead of the fri mids. Anyhow - Ed is No1 on spotify now! :D

I don't know for certain but I'd imagine a song selling 15k 'streams' is broken down roughly as following:

Sun: 2k

Mon: 1.5k

Tues: 1.5k

Weds: 1.5k

Thurs: 1.5k

Fri: 3.5k

Sat: 3.5k

Hence, when we see the Friday mids they're missing out on well over half of the week's streaming total.

I don't know if it's been posted, but Happy has officially sold over 2 million copies. If the OCC post this news (which they should -- only a handful of singles have done this) then it could climb some more.

let's put gooddelta's theory to the test. here's the broken down Spotify streams for the current streaming #1, All About That Bass

Sunday - 180,707 - 1.8k

Monday - 169,689 - 1.7k

Tuesday - 165,960 - 1.7k

Wednesday - 168,818 - 1.7k

Thursday - 163,276 - 1.6k

Friday - 186,819 - 1.9k

Saturday - 191,113 - 1.9k

it's right to an extent but the difference between weekend and weekday streaming isn't very big.

Interesting, I didn't realise it would actually be that low at the weekend!

Adding up all the songs in the top 50 shows a bit more difference:

Sun - 3,928,468

Mon - 3,929,619

Tue - 3,863,213

Wed - 3,934,899

Thu - 3,993,581

Fri - 4,381,187

Sat - 4,258,801

They are so far still only reporting million sellers when they actually pass a million *sales* so I don't think they'll acknowledge this.

Also, are we already forgetting that sales are typically higher at the weekend as well?

It passed the threshold on Sunday, actually -- 2,001,000, so I'm surprised it wasn't brought up in the Music Week report. Today's sales add another 2,000 to lift it to 2,003,000.

1989 SALES :cheer: :cheer:

Fantastic sales for the best album this year

And  at Let it Go being back

Where is welcome to New York and out of the woods if anyone has any clue please?

Thanks in advance

...see my previous post :P

Perhaps the OCC will only announce it once it gets there on sales only, I really don't understand how they're counting million sellers these days, let alone two-million sellers

Is it just me that thought Taylor's sales would be a bit higher? The hype around it and the reviews have all been incredible.

Perhaps it's just wishful thinking?
