I didn't failed that test because I'm not English so I didn't take it.

Anyway, I still think you're xagerating the top20 effect because :

- If people watched the performance and wanted to buy it base on that performance, they would buy it even if it's not showing at #20,

- If people didn't watch the performance but would only hear about the song because of iTunes, they will still see it at #20 now so it won't change a thing.

But I guess we only have to agree to disagree. :)

People swipe through iTunes top 40 on the app all the time and cherry pick the songs at the top - I do it all the time. Not showing up within this top 40 for a lot of the time where she was technically in it, WOULD have lost her at least a few sales. That's the point Lee is trying to make.

Maybe not top 10, I think Nicole could have been top 15. I'm certain Lee is right about the visibility. Itunes visibility does make a difference. I think Clean Bandit may have overtaken Olly's initial boost on iTunes from X factor because they were viable at #1 for a long time when they shouldn't have been.

I totally agree with the number 1 effect and the top 10 effect, because it means the song gets a big exposure on the main page. But #20, really? Not everyone is an iTunes loon and is going to check the whole top100 and check every new song in it and buy it. And unless you check the whole top100, you wouldn't notice a #20 entry.

Yes but for those people, they will see her #20 now so the "cherry picking" effect can still happen now. It is not related to her perfoming on the X Factor (and it wasn't even one day ago so it's not like people who watched it have forgotten about it already).

I'd say that Olly probably briefly overtook Clean Bandit after the performance, but Clean Bandit have had the number 1 iTunes affect all evening and morning, and that's probably helped them re-overtake him.

I doubt it, If Olly Murs had overtaken them following the x factor performance then he would definitely still be ahead now because his sales would have been increasing non-stop like Ed Sheeran a few weeks ago.

well Olly & Clean Bandit could be really close & for all we know Olly could be on the verge of overtaking them. Not that it matters, 2 or 3 no real difference, no chance of number 1 for either of them so it doesn't matter.

I am going to be over the moon if Olly "only" reaches #3 :cheer:

why?

Because I don't like the song in the first place and I love Clean Bandit :)

'Dangerous' should be number 1 if we're going by the quality of the songs. No matter for Olly anyway, I reckon his album will be number 1, that's more of an indication of the status as an artist whereas with singles you need the luck of the draw.

1 Band Aid 30 - Do They Know It's Christmas? (2014) 1.0000

2 Clean Bandit & Jess Glynne - Real Love 0.0781

3 Olly Murs - Wrapped Up (feat. Travie McCoy) 0.0739

4 Gareth Malone's All Star Choir - Wake Me Up (Official B... 0.0636

That is a hell of a Kworb gap between 1 and 2. Clean Bandit on 0.0781.
That's major! Pretty much outselling Clean Bandit by 12:1. If Real Love sells 70-85k then who knows what Band Aid could end up selling, depends how well it holds up I guess!
And this is halfway through a Monday when the majority of people will surely be at work and won't have had chance to get onto iTunes! :o

omg :o

Looks like it will 'spend' a hell of a lot of its sales this week then, can't see it hanging on until Xmas. Maybe that was Simon's theory, showing it on X Factor would give it a bigger first week and make it less of a stumbling block for X Factor in a month's time.

And Real Love is about to sell 85-100K this week easily... SO WTFFFFF! 500K+ for sure I guess for BA30.
