Songs of the Year

17 The Saturdays - What Are You Waiting For? - 1-2-2-3-5-9-12-5-11-19-20-27-14-13-18-24-31-40-X (18 weeks)

TONIGHT WE'RE ON A MASSIVE ATTACK! The Saturdays fail to replicate the success of EOY #6 What About Us from last year and come in at a respectable #17 with What Are You Waiting For?, the lead single from their greatest hits compilation Finest Selection. The track was an instant hit for me, so catchy and undeniably Saturdays. The lack of radio support it got was ridiculous and #38 was an AWFUL peak. :( This was amazing live back in September on tour, a surefire highlight. Oh girls, where did it all go so wrong? :( (answer: Gentleman)

What are you waiting for is so great and catchy. I love listening to it

(And this is now the 4th song so far in your top 20 that I have highlighted that I would like in the top 10, I'm like a curse here )

i'm trying to work out whether we have a common artist or even better a song in our YTD

Songs of the Year

http://i759.photobucket.com/albums/xx240/MarthaJonesFan/Cover%20Sleeves/CodySimpson-Surfboard.png

16 Cody Simpson - Surfboard - 1-1-3-5-10-15-22-27-25-25-27-29-29-33-39-8-18-27-34-X (19 weeks)

One of about 5 Cody fans in the UK, I've been a supporter of his since around February 2011, not long after he released his debut EP, 4 U. The progression from debut single iYiYi to this track, Surfboard, is quite remarkable, with the former being a teen pop Bieber-style track with a slightly tacky yet irresistible hook, with this being slightly more edgy and sexual yet still retaining Cody's charm. Not entirely sure if he's that big a fan of this track though, he's recently "parted ways" with his record label (and subsequently been signed by Justin Bieber, I knew he still had some good left in him!!!) and been saying he's now making the music he's always wanted to make. Eek. Nothing more gutting than an artist slagging off their own songs, that you and other fans still enjoy. Anyway, hopefully 2015 proves fruitful for Cody even if his hopes of mainstream success are now gone (tbf he wasn't really going anywhere anyway, WHERE WAS HIS UK AIRPLAY AND PROMO???? NOWHERE!!).

Songs of the Year

http://i759.photobucket.com/albums/xx240/MarthaJonesFan/Cover%20Sleeves/5SecondsofSummer-SheLooksSoPerfect.png

15 5 Seconds of Summer - She Looks So Perfect - 34-X-16-27-34-5-7-15-17-20-15-14-18-23-24-27-28-31-36-X (18 non-consecutive weeks)

*waits for Calum to moan*

5 Seconds of Summer make their final appearance in my EOY chart with their debut single She Looks So Perfect. The track sadly only peaked at #5 (and was so nearly #6 behind 1D's You & I!!), but had a very respectable chart run following that and is now the biggest #5 hit in my chart's history. Well done boys. The track took a little while to properly hit me, hence the awful chart run at first before shooting up to the top 5. I was overjoyed to see this make #1 for them and become a big hit following that and not a non-#1. 5SOS do not have any #1s in my chart to date, will 2015 be their year?

She looks so perfect is pretty good

And I still have all of my top 10 predictions in the top 14 here I think :cheer:

I share so many tracks with you in my eoy too :cheer: and I've seen four or five that are in my eoy top 10. Fantastic year for you :cheer:

Never realised how fantastic Swift was until this era but she is amazing at making 1989. Every time I think I'm bored of SIO I realise that I still adore it, such a catchy pop tune.

I really want to like Ella Henderson because she is fantastic but I don't really love any of her material. As a prominent Ghost hater on this forum, she really has been selling the song to me with these past two televised performances this past week because her vocals are stunning. The studio version is still bad though.

Thanks for the comments guys! :cheer: I'll be replying to all your EOY charts during the week, I've not had a chance the past few days!

Josh - gutted you're not sold on Ella yet, I think she's wonderful and I adored her on XF! Ghost is a huge pop song

Songs of the Year

http://i759.photobucket.com/albums/xx240/MarthaJonesFan/Cover%20Sleeves/LilyAllen-URLBadman.png

14 Lily Allen - URL Badman - 29-19-15-16-12-11-7-3-5-4-6-8-13-21-26-35-28-31-33-40-X (20 weeks)

URL Badman was my initial favourite (Hard Out Here aside) on Sheezus, so naturally I was beyond excited when Lily announced it as the fifth single. Sadly, it did absolutely nothing in the end, peaking at #90 or something in the chart, but it was huge in my own chart, reaching the top 3 (after entering several weeks beforehand just as an album track and not leaving!). It's definitely the 2nd best track on Sheezus still, again after Hard Out Here, and marks Lily's highest entry in my EOY chart. From this song upwards, everything's completely top 10 worthy tbh!

Cody Simpson is kind of decent looking, too young though, but I can't get into his music :( I want to though.

Songs of the Year

http://i759.photobucket.com/albums/xx240/MarthaJonesFan/Cover%20Sleeves/IggyAzalea-BlackWidow-1.png

13 Iggy Azalea - Black Widow (feat. Rita Ora) - 24-8-8-11-17-22-26-X-40-31-28-26-24-22-4-1-2-3-4-7-10-11-14-17-20-23-30-31-36-... (28+ non-consecutive weeks)

Sadly missing out on the top 10 is the fifth single from Iggy Azalea's album The New Classic. The track was the fifth #1 for Iggy (Bounce missed out but Problem made the top) and third #1 for Rita, so going by past form for both artists, the track was set to be massive, and unsurprisingly, it was. I'd probably rank it third or fourth out of Iggy's singles (behind Fancy and Work, and maybe Change Your Life), another amazing track from her anyway and was deservedly a big hit in the charts too. Oh and the video is without a doubt one of the best of the year

Black Widow <3

Cody is absolutely STUNNING

He has yet to meet SEBBY STANDARD

Black Widow's video is stunning  Iggy's discography is pretty flawless so I agree, it's not her *best* single, but It's very catchy/close :music: Rita's hair though *_*

Iggy is just killing it at the moment, she's really on fire. Fancy > Work > Black Widow > Change Your Life > Bounce > Beg For It is how I'd rank her singles I think! And Rita was obviously inspired by Sarah Harding:
