I liked The Vamps right from the moment I heard Can We Dance last year but if you told me they'd have my favourite album of 2014, five #1 singles out of a possible five, and have met them three times, I'd have laughed. Their album is absolutely perfect from start to finish, they already know their sound so the first album isn't some mish-mash of them throwing things at a wall and seeing what sticks. The five singles that got picked were the absolute correct choices, my five favourites on the album. I remember this got released during the Easter holidays and I stayed up extra late for the Irish release to be uploaded online and listen all the way through, was knackered by the end but was totally worth it  I met them twice during the album release week - once in Reading HMV where Brad and Connor signed my album, followed by a photo session the next day in Claire's Oxford Street where I had to wait 8 hours to get one picture with the four of them :kink: Met Connor and Tristan again during the Somebody To You release week where I got my single signed. Great experiences at all three, lovely guys in person.

I really do need to actually listen to their album from start to finish. Only heard the singles and a couple of the others when they've come up on shuffle. But I LOVE 'Can We Dance'/'Last Night'/'Somebody To You' :D

03 [13] 282 Ellie Goulding - Halcyon / Halcyon Days

04 [14] 269 Katy Perry - Prism

08 [24] 130 Delta Goodrem - Innocent Eyes: 10 Year Anniversary Edition

09 [26] 116 Lady Gaga - ARTPOP

10 [28] 107 Taylor Swift - Red

As interesting as I find the points charts, I never like using them for my overall Y/E chart, mainly because of how much they favour older songs and the newer ones don't stand a chance, hence the lack of Taylor Swift/1D/Cheryl in the first list's top 10. The Saturdays are included, as is Reed Deming, despite not being eligible for my overall chart. Tom Odell unsurprisingly tops the chart for albums released pre-2014 by quite a sizeable lead but The Vamps secure the overall #1 :D

And singles (italics = did not make #1):

OTHER #1 SINGLES

21 384 Taylor Swift - Shake It Off

26 331 Lily Allen - Our Time

27 328 The Saturdays - Not Giving Up

28 325 Lucie Silvas - Letters To Ghosts

31 308 Cheryl - I Don't Care

33 300 Rita Ora - I Will Never Let You Down

34 294 Ariana Grande - Break Free (feat. Zedd)

40 277 Lauren Aquilina - Lovers or Liars

41 277 One Direction - Steal My Girl

42 275 Jessie J, Ariana Grande & Nicki Minaj - Bang Bang

47 240 Michael Schulte - Rock and Scissors

59 194 Hunter Hayes - I Want Crazy

61 193 Hunter Hayes - More Than I Should

65 185 Luke Friend - Take On The World

121 124 Ulrik Munther - Jag vet inte hur man gör

141 100 Tom Odell - Real Love

Again, this doesn't particularly represent things very well - Crazy Stupid Love would probably be ahead of Fancy if it were a week-on-week comparison! Hard Out Here also features in the top 10, continuing its huge success from 2013 into 2014, but will not feature in the overall countdown due to it being top 20 in last year's. Luke, Ulrik and Tom aside as they are all very recent and still top 20, Hunter Hayes has the two floppiest #1s of the year. Both happened to be the first #1s of the year and aren't technically 2014 songs but do qualify for the full countdown as I had no idea they existed pre-2014

Next up...the full top 250...

'Wild Heart' and 'Oh Cecilia' are my two least favourite Vamps singles as well ooops

You need to SORT yourself!!!

I won't comment on my favourites out of the four 2014 Vamps singles - that will come later (and points charts can be deceiving) - but Can We Dance is my favourite of theirs

Our Hunter Hayes love has come full circle :o From you commenting on my EOY last year to me commenting on yours this year! Pretty cool B-) Looking forward to some old and new songs of his here (also hoping for The Rocket Summer and possibly chart saviour John The Legend :o)

Indeed :o Can't believe it's not far off a year since that now! Feels like just yesterday. Hunter's a brilliant addition to the people I stan for though, Storyline is one hell of an album and the debut is great too

Glad Only Human's had debuted high, I think 3 Words is my favourite of her albums still. Only Human is dying for a release and I'd be gutted if she picked anything. I think It's About Time and Goodbye Means Hello are my favourite album tracks!

I should really listen to The Vamps' album, I've liked every single + Girls On TV so I'm not sure why I haven't. Anyway,

Last Night >> Can We Dance >> Somebody To You >> Oh Cecilia >> Wild Heart

:cheer:

241 Rihanna - What Now - 12-18-28-35-X (4 weeks)

242 Sam Smith - Stay With Me (feat. Mary J. Blige) - 38-35-X (2 weeks)

243 Foxes - Let Go for Tonight - 36-X (1 week)

244 will.i.am - Feelin' Myself (feat. Miley Cyrus, French Montana, Wiz Khalifa & DJ Mustard) - 40-X-37-34-X (3 non-consecutive weeks)

245 Raleigh Ritchie - Stronger Than Ever - 21-33-X (2 weeks)

246 The Common Linnets - Calm After the Storm - 16-28-X (2 weeks)

247 Beyoncé - XO - 38-30-X-40-X (3 non-consecutive weeks)

248 Paloma Faith - Ready for the Good Life - 10-21-X (2 weeks)

249 Jennifer Lopez - I Luh Ya Papi (feat. French Montana) - 37-10-18-29-X (4 weeks)

250 Zedd - Stay the Night (feat. Hayley Williams of Paramore) - 35-X-20-31-X (3 non-consecutive weeks)

Not gonna focus too much on those at the lower end of this countdown but here's the bottom 10. Interesting, the bottom 3 has two top 10 hits in. I Luh Ya Papi was a bit of a guilty pleasure at the time, and Ready for the Good Life was quite a disappointment by Paloma's standards sadly!

Eurovision watch: 1

YES for 'What Now' and 'XO' too

231 Cash Cash - Take Me Home (feat. Bebe Rexha) - 25-38-X (2 weeks)

232 Rebecca Ferguson - I Hope - 38-18-24-26-20-31-X (6 weeks)

233 Taylor Swift - All You Had to Do Was Stay - N/A

234 Matrix & Futurebound - Don't Look Back (feat. Tanya Lacey) - 17-15-33-X (3 weeks)

235 Enrique Iglesias - Physical (feat. Jennifer Lopez) - N/A

236 Passenger - Bullets - N/A

237 The Ready Set - Higher - 35-X (1 week)

238 Martin Garrix & Jay Hardway - Wizard - 27-31-X (2 weeks)

239 Tove Lo - Not On Drugs - 26-39-X (2 weeks)

240 Vance Joy - Riptide - 21-24-X (2 weeks)

A couple of songs in this section that didn't actually end up charting - three album tracks in fact. Passenger didn't have any songs chart at all over the course of the year, but Bullets was a lovely little track on his recent album and definitely had to be included in the countdown! Physical is one of two Enrique songs in the countdown, he and J-Lo work so well together I think. J-Lo is always best when she does pop tracks, none of this try-hard urban stuff please Jen.

Can't wait for this singles countdown and it looks like the covers will help me a lot :kink:

I love let go for tonight but it did underwhelm in my chart. Calm after the storm should have won Eurovision. I adore that song so much and it was so unlucky to miss out on the top in my chart (by 2k in the end). Ready for the good life is another great Paloma song and AYHTDWS is becoming a standout on 1989 (still only enough for 6th best )

Great first 2 sections

221 T.I. - No Mediocre (feat. Iggy Azalea) - 30-X (1 week)

222 Beth Sherburn - Joker (feat. Lil Wayne) - 39-25-34-X (3 weeks)

223 Vita Chambers - Fix You - 13-22-X (2 weeks)

224 Labrinth - Let It Be - 34-25-33-X (3 weeks)

225 Sharon Doorson - Louder - 9-14-27-X (3 weeks)

226 Taylor Swift - Bad Blood - 40-X (1 week)

227 Iggy Azalea - Impossible Is Nothing - 17-21-37-X (3 weeks)

228 Lea Michele - Louder - 10-18-29-X (3 weeks)

229 Jack Walton - Eye of the Tiger - 8-20-X (2 weeks)

230 Neon Jungle - Welcome to the Jungle - 39-X-38-36-X (3 non-consecutive weeks)

In this section we have the first of three Jack Walton X Factor performances. In past years I've not allowed these into my EOY charts, but this year, studio versions have been released onto iTunes so I'm allowing them in, albeit not very high. T.I. is at #221 with his Iggy Azalea collaboration No Mediocre. The song is actually quite mediocre lol, but Iggy's part is wonderful and her flow is ON POINT. If the whole song were like that, it'd be incredible. I don't really want T.I. telling me that his girl won't get no kisses if it's a bush down there... :/ Oh and shoutout to Beth Sherburn who has a pretty great track (should've qualified in BJSC for Cameron) but the cheapest artwork I've ever seen.
