all you had to do was stay is one of my faves from 1989, i love how sharp the 'stay' is in the chorus. i know it's extremely unlikely but i've always hoped it might be the final single like TOTGA of the Teenage Dream era.

Only Human really needs a single release, hope she does release a post-album single. If it was this I could see it doing well but I feel like she's over this era already which is such a shame.

Rude is great too, it was good to see a different genre doing well in the charts and it's just a fun song. Very good for karaoke too :P

All huge faves of mine  AYHDTWS is one of 1989's biggest highlights for me too. Shower was cruelly overlooked and deserved much, much better.

'Shower' really should have done much better than it did :(

shame your favourite from '1989' is dull as shit.

that's good to know :heehee: me+tanika~

Jack could just have a year of naked photoshoots and it'd be incredible. But some music would be a good side project~ :kink:

It definitely does deserve to be a single and I hope it is! Unpopular opinion, but the singles have been a bit shit so far. 'Blank Space' is growing and has a decent video, but it's a bit of a strange choice when the likes of 'All You Had to Do Was Stay', 'Wonderland', 'Out of the Woods' and 'How You Get the Girl' are all screaming for releases. http://i.imgur.com/GOl3R76.gif

I doubt we'll get anything else from the OH era, haha. Seems as if she's just brushed over it and it's done now. All that backlash from XF miming must have got the better of her. :heehee:

95 Demi Lovato - Really Don't Care (feat. Cher Lloyd) - 30-33-40-24-41-X (5 weeks)

I really didn't understand the love for 'One Woman Army' at first AT ALL, but it's now won me over and it's such an AMAZING track! Can't believe I ever disliked it (although that's probably because it was fierce competition for 'Melodies' in BJSC x). Hopefully there's more of the same nature to come from Porcelain in the future, and some of her other stuff is really decent also. Following that, we have a Sandénian BJSC entry in the form of Elouiz's '10'. This is one of my favourite entries from the past year, it has just the right amount of power, vulnerability and emotion and it's all conveyed pretty perfectly. The video is rather touching as well, and Elouiz herself is actually really stunning. Then we have 'Out of the Woods'. Before hearing the album and discovering that my favourites were in fact 'Wonderland' and 'All You Had to Do Was Stay' (by a landslide), this was onto becoming my favourite song by Taylor. It still is probably up there somewhere, but it's kind of worn off a bit. I like listening to it on the car journey to work though for some strange reason. The b-side to The Vamps' fifth single from 'Meet The Vamps' is here also, the single version of 'Oh Cecilia' featuring the GORGEOUS Shawn Mendes <3 Was never really a *massive* fan of this, but the single version is fantastic and Shawn really adds some special magic to it that wasn't there before! And finally, the single campaign that seemed to go on for what seemed like an eternity - 'Really Don't Care' closes the section. It's a gem of a pop song, Cher isn't exactly a necessary addition to the song, but the whole thing all works really well.

90 Alyssa Reid - Last Chance (feat. JRDN) - 13-28-28-30-X (4 weeks)

'Crystallize', a charity single by Kylie this year certainly isn't the best of her output this year, but it's a nice song nonetheless. The video, again, is nothing spectacular and is certainly a little on the cheap side, but it did the job it had to do just fine, and she was looking stunning in it, as always. Wouldn't mind if this had been a deluxe track on 'Kiss Me Once' though, or on the re-release that will never ever happen. 'What Is Love?' is by far and away my favourite album track from Lea Michele's début 'Louder'. So emotional and has a special place for me, the lyrics are all so beautiful as well and it makes it all the more amazing a song. 'Move My Way' was one of my favourite album tracks from 'Meet The Vamps', and probably still is. Nice and chilled song, wouldn't mind that getting single treatment but this late in the day, I doubt that's going to happen now. Wasted opportunity with 'Girls on TV' - and the same here. But the singles have been amazing from the era, so not a travesty by any means. 'Life of the Party' REALLY clicked with me a few weeks ago. LOVED it from first listen because it's Shawn and Shawn = perfect, but it's really hit me hard now and it's such a beautiful song. Really hope there's much more like this coming on his début album. Then finally we have 'Last Chance', a favourite of mine from 'Time Bomb'. Alyssa really exceeded all expectations with her latest album, and this feature is so touching and JRDN sounds great on it (surprisingly).

I love so many of these songs

Break free and Problem are Ariana's best tracks, if I go is stunning, holding onto heaven is my favourite foxes track, break the rules is so great and deserved to be a big hit, break up song and our time are both great and ghost is one of my favourite songs this year, so haunting and amazing

Out of the woods is so stunning and beautiful so it is great to see it here. I hope it is a single at one point

Thanks for commenting Ultraviolence! :D

Out of the Woods! Loved it when it first premiered and really hoping it'll be a single otherwise she and her team would be mad. Surely would be a worldwide smash, the production is just flawless.

Just got The Vamps' album for 99p on Google Play so I'll get back to you on 'Move My Way' I've heard Girls On TV before and it's fantastic, shame it wasn't a single really.

85 Sam Smith - I'm Not the Only One - 13-18-27-37-X (4 weeks)

G.R.L are up next with one of the songs from their EP. Obviously nothing on the EP comes anywhere close to touching 'Ugly Heart' but 'Show Me What You Got' is such a tune - the chorus is sing-along heaven, it's a shame that after this song though the quality of the tracks starts to dip because 'Rewind' and 'Girls Are Always Right' aren't exactly the best. It's still a good EP on the whole though. Then we have 'Pretend' by Tinashe. I love this (obviously), definitely one of the best tracks from her début, once again we have those vocals shining through and there being just that little bit of vulnerability in her voice. The lyrics to this one are quite special as well, so that makes it all the better. Then we have an album track from J-Lo's latest album 'A.K.A' - 'Never Satisfied'. This was my immediate favourite when listening to the album for the first time - so emotional and just something that we don't get often enough from J-Lo, and it's definitely something we do need more of on her albums. 'Empire' is another one that was my favourite album track on first listen to 'Chapter One' - although now 'Give Your Heart Away' is my favourite, this is still a really special song. It definitely should be a single at one point, although I can't help feeling the only place it would have fit in was where 'Glow' was released. And finally, 'I'm Not the Only One' by Sam Smith is definitely one of the AMAZING tracks from his album - not only is there Dianna Agron in the video making it 10000x better, but the song itself is just really, really exquisite. I do love 'Stay With Me' now, but I think this track was the one that made me pay a hell of a lot more attention to Sam than I did.

80 Nina Nesbitt - Selfies - 20-23-21-26-40-49-X (6 weeks)

Opening us up here are Little Mix with the best track from 'Salute'. It took me a very long time to find the want from somewhere to listen to that album a second time after finding it hideous the first time round, but I'm so glad I did listen again because this is just too beautiful a track to miss out on. Perrie's vocals on this are simply stunning, and everybody else is also. 100% their best song to date, no competition whatsoever. 'Undo' by Sanna Nielsen, another #1 that drops out before the top 40, oops. LOVED this from first listen when watching Eurovision 2014, and it just continued to get better after every listen from there. Such powerful vocals, and even if the English is a bit iffy at particular points, doesn't detract from how gorgeous the song is. 'Mmm Yeah' is such a trashy song but it's so bloody good at the same time. The addition of Pitbull just makes it all the more cheap, but I can't help loving this song. Austin's only dodgy single is 'Banga! Banga!'. This is certainly no 'What About Love', but it's so infectious and catchy. Another J-Lo track drops out here, this time one of the singles from 'A.K.A'. 'First Love' is probably one of my favourite singles of hers to date now. Love the whole vibe and the chorus is just insane. Then we have Ninaflop with 'Selfies'. Some love it, some loathe it. I'm firmly in the camp of the former. Such a different sound of single to go for considering the hits that have been released this year, and it's magical, as is the video.

75 Jessie J - Ain't Been Done - 18-8-11-14-20-26-29-34-40-47-X (10 weeks)

One of few 5SOS album tracks that are actually outside of the top 40 is up next, and it's the amazing 'End Up Here'! Wasn't really that sold on this at first given it is a bit shouty and it's not really that similar to any other tracks on the album (in terms of their vocals, because the production is near exactly similar), but I've grown to love it SO much now - definitely one of the stand-outs (although really, what ISN'T a stand-out on their album? x). We then have Tinashe with 'Bated Breath'. A couple of weeks ago I'd have said this was my absolute favourite on the album by a landslide, but it's just been overtaken by 'All Hands on Deck'. Anyway, this track is GORGEOUS. Such a stunning song and you can just hear the whole story in her voice, v v deep. 'Drunk in Love' is another one I wasn't overly keen on when I first heard it. It's got to me now though and while I still cannot abide by the Jay-Z version, the solo version is fantastic! One of the few highlights from 'BEYONCÉ'. Double trouble here as we have another Beyoncé track showing up and it's the S-T-U-N-N-I-N-G 'God Made You Beautiful'. Sensational track, just love it so much and I don't even know why. And then signing us off is Jessie J with 'Ain't Been Done'. Just behind 'Masterpiece', a favourite of mine from her third album 'Sweet Talker'. The imadoitlikeitain'tbeendone parts at the start grate after a while, but the rest of the song is just amazing! Already a major stand-out in her discography!

Great to see another Pretend fan, the drum beat in the back is so simple yet so striking. The song really gives a chance for her vocals to shine too without all the production in her other songs, the rap is even pretty decent too.

Empire definitely needs to be a single soon, very strong pop single. Could provide her with another top 10 surely, could see the public taking to it.

Ain't Been Done is fantastic, shame the public seem to have gone off her due to her personality because her music is still so strong. Reminds me a bit of Who's Laughing Now which is another one of her strongest songs for me.

Empire is great and definitely one of my highlights from chapter one and I hope it becomes a single (along with mirror man). I'm not the only one is definitely my favourite Sam song by miles, it is so beautiful

I love mmm yeah (but not as much as when it was released). It is so catchy and the video is

70 Tinashe - 2 On (feat. ScHoolboy Q) - 9-6-17-29-49-X (5 weeks)

Into the top 70 now and starting us off we have Shawn Mendes with 'Something Big' (just LOVE the title - what could it possibly mean? :kink:). The song is absolutely amazing, and if this is a taster of what's to come from the début album then I'm beyond excited. This year's definitely gonna be his year to shine and I can't wait to watch him blossom from Viner to an incredible little pop star. Then we have Nina Nesbitt with the incredible album track 'He's the One I'm Bringing Back', taken from her début album 'Peroxide'. The album was overall a bit underwhelming. It still has several highlights on it including 'The Hardest Part' which is one of the most stunning songs, and of course the singles, but this is my favourite of them all. Nice little up-beat number and it just works so well. Absolutely HATED 'Fancy' at first. It still seems to me a bit more of a Charli XCX song (feat. Iggy Azalea), just like any other songs Iggy's been a feature on really, but now I really love the song. The chorus is still the best thing about it and I'm still not overly sold on Iggy being a credible rapper - she's good but nothing amazing. Love the video for this also. 'Me and My Broken Heart' wasn't as instant as I thought it would be. It's an amazing song by a very promising band - but I can see them taking more of a Lawson-type direction than any of the other bands out there at the moment. Here's hoping there's more songs like this on their album when it arrives. And finally we have Tinashe with '2 On'. An INCREDIBLE single for her. It all just works extremely well, and even ScHoolboy Q sounds decent on it. Not a qualm at all with that song~

61 Iggy Azalea - Black Widow (feat. Rita Ora) - 30-25-41-X-5-3-4-6-10-13-18-23-31-32-38-48-X (15 non-consecutive weeks)

63 Sam Smith - Stay With Me - 40-X-15-7-6-14-24-30-45-X (8 non-consecutive weeks)

64 Lea Michele - Cannonball - 3-5-6-10-15-24-34-36-38-42-41-39-46-X (13 weeks)

65 Union J - You Got It All - 4-6-12-16-24-26-14-13-8-9-10-7- (12 weeks to date)

'Black Widow' was a massive turnaround for me in terms of Iggy. Wasn't a massive fan of the song to begin with, but after hearing it a few times it really clicked with me and it's easily Iggy's best single to date. 'Bounce' is a favourite of mine from her album, well, one of the only two favourites, but this tops that in many ways. The Rita feature is fabulous and the video is the best thing about all of it. Rita looks STUNNING in that tight jumpsuit. Poor Elyar though... 'Do It All Over Again' was AMAZING and while 'A Billion Girls' is still a very good song, it flopped, and it really isn't up to the standard of any of his previous material. Shame he's been dropped now though, but I can't see there being any major developments for him in terms of music. Back to YouTube it is. 'Stay With Me' was at one point my favourite Sam Smith song, and while I still adore it it's been overtaken by 'I'm Not the Only One' and 'Like I Can'. The Mary J Blige version is sublime, but I think my hype for it has died down a fair bit. Then we have 'Cannonball', Lea Michele's début single as an artist outside of Glee - an absolute KILLER of a pop song. Love it so much and it was definitely the best way for her to launch. And finally, Union J's second single from the album of the same name - 'You Got It All' - it's a gorgeous ballad and while some of the lyrics are a tad on the cheesy side it all just seems to work so well. Having most of the focus on George's vocals in the song makes it all the better also. Let's hope that wasn't the last stop on the Union J train that runs through Official Charts land.

Hoping Something Big will sneak him a top 10 hit this year in a quiet week maybe, a nice proper debut single from him, a good pop song. Wonder if he'll manage to carve a career out of this.

Glad to see another person preferring Black Widow too, I'm a big fan of Dark Horse and they are quite similar so that's probably why I expect :P Rita outshines Iggy on it for me though because the chorus is so strong oops.

'Fireproof' was the first taster we got of what was to come from One Direction's fourth album 'FOUR' and it still sounds as fresh now as it did when I first heard it. The vocals on it are all insanely beautiful, we have Zayn and Harry both sounding absolutely gorgeous with a nice tone to their voice, and despite it being a rather short affair, the whole song is just perfect from start to finish. The lyrics speak to me in a very special way also, so it makes it all the better. 'Oh Cecilia' isn't exactly my favourite track from 'Meet The Vamps', but the single version of it is amazing, all the more perfect for having Shawn Mendes featuring. The video is obviously amazing as well because Brad's near shirtless, James is near shirtless and we have Shawn just sitting there with his guitar looking cute as f***. 'Birthday' is such a jam! Didn't love it as much as I do now when I first listened to the album but after hearing it live on the Prismatic Tour and watching the video and listening to it many times over, it's definitely grown and it's one of my favourites from the album now! 'Comeback' is by far and away my favourite single by Ella Eyre - such a fierce little track with a fierce video to match! I seriously don't understand why she hasn't smashed with this, but I guess that's just the fickle British public for you... Then finally we have 'Champion' by Pixie Lott. The best album track from her self-titled third album. Just amazing!

'Sexercize' is one of the main highlights on 'Kiss Me Once'. Such a sexy song (unsurprisingly), and one of the many videos that were released for it is extremely sexy with all the near-naked men. The performance of this on the Kiss Me Once Tour was sensational, definitely one of the best of that night, but there were so many. Next is 'Love Me Harder' - the amazing collaboration between Ariana Grande and The Weeknd. The chorus to this honestly gives me chills. Her voice sounds exceptional, the video for the song is insanely sexy (for once she actually looks sexy without putting on that cringey cute smile and hunching her body to make herself look vulnerable and sweet). I didn't really pay much attention at all to 'XO' when 'BEYONCÉ' first landed, but after the BRIT Awards performance, I was completely sold on the song, it's so gorgeous and definitely one of Bey's best. 'Goodness Gracious' is another that's a stand-out in an artist's discography. The 'Halcyon' era really disappointed me. 'Burn' was okay, but nothing spectacular at all, and BOOM. Then came along 'Goodness Gracious' and blew me away. By far my favourite Ellie single, by a landslide. And then finally we have 'Girls on TV', my absolute favourite album track from 'Meet The Vamps'. Such a funky, feel-good track and I love it more and more with each listen. Brad's voice <3

Yassss at 'Champion' finishing in the top 60

Sad to see 'On My Way' by Lea Michele being outperformed by 'Cannonball'. :(

Another 5 Seconds of Summer album track bites the dust, and this time it's 'Kiss Me Kiss Me'. Absolutely LOVE this despite not loving it as much as I do now when I first listened to the album. It's one of the best on the album, but really, what track on this album *isn't* good? Answer: none. Second answer: apart from 'English Love Affair'. 'Nasty', lol. The official charts' top 10 smash that should never have happened, but somehow it's an amazing track. The video is even more amazing because Pixie looks ON FIRE in it. And now we have 'Do It All Over Again'. A hit of sorts for him officially, obviously it's nowhere near as good as 'Colourblind' because that's by far and away the best of his output (so far), but it is a great song, especially when you're listening full blast with the Beats. The video is also great because we have those emotional flashback moments recreated from his YouTube days of doing covers, which he's sadly now gone back to (lol). And now we have 'Thinking Out Loud'. I was not a fan of this song at all before my friend kept listening to it on repeat. Hell, I didn't even know it was bloody Ed Sheeran, but now I absolutely LOVE it. Has a really strong personal and emotional connection with me, which won't be discussed x and the video is just as beautiful. Finally, 'Fine' is one of the best tracks on 'Kiss Me Once'. Really upset she didn't perform this on the tour because this would have gone PERFECTLY hand-in-hand with 'All the Lovers' at the end of the show, but alas it was never meant to be. A gem of an album track nonetheless.
