Incredible for Hozier :o

This week the US and the UK will both have completely unrelated songs called 'Jealous' in their top 10s. The Nick Jonas song may well end up becoming a UK hit as well, the Labrinth song... probably less likely to crack the US.

Outside not taking off like Summer & Blame :(

It was released too soon for radio which is a shame.

[*]Billboard has altered the chart ratios of the sales, airplay and streaming components of the Hot 100. They felt that streaming was above its preferred average ratio and sales below.

So, sales will have a bit more value towards Hot 100 chart points now and streaming to have less. I do wonder about the exact numbers of the new ratios though.

The last time they did this (or the last time they mentioned it) was exactly a year ago (billboard chart date 12/07/2013), the week before "Wrecking Ball" went back to #1 due to that viral video.

They felt streaming was above its preferred average back then too.

I wonder if Billboard was underestimating on YouTube's impact towards the chart when they introduced it. With songs like Wrecking Ball and Blank Space, they did have strong digital sales to cement their hit status, in addition to their high YouTube views. It's mostly aimed at songs which is only on the charts for YouTube reasons only, with no legs on sales, audio streaming and airplay, obviously.

This is the problem with having streams, especially youtube streams, count to what should be a sales chart. Also, these ratios between streams/ sales are entirely made-up, depending on when the shadow of the fifth black cat to cross the road that day falls. They are abstract ideas whereas sales are very simple. It doesn't make sense.

It hasn't been a sales chart in over fifteen years though. If anything it's infamous for that - it's not as if potentially arbitrary weighting is a concept that's controversial for Billboard given they've been doing it forever with their valuation of airplay.

In any case, if you want a sales chart, you're free to only pay attention to the Hot Digital Songs chart.

Jealous in the top 10 (I know it was last week too but I didn't notice then) :D Why on earth it's Chains being released in the UK is beyond me, that's still on the schedule for 4th January. The album is out in March here though so hopefully Jealous will proceed it and gets a proper push.

How many times has "Don't" re-entered the top 10 now? Like three?

46 - 72 - 81 - 87 - 86 - 91 - 84 - 69 - 50 - 51 - 47 - 34 - 30 - 25 - 22 - 17 - 17 - 13 - 10 - 11 - 09 - 12 - 11 - 10

Outside is not an official single yet...

I was going to say, isn't 'Blame' still the current single in the USA? 'Outside' has done pretty well so far considering.

'Thinking Out Loud' jumping into the top 40 already! Must surely be on course to outpeak 'Don't' (which I'm also amazed is still doing this well).

"Blame" is still moving, but it looks like it's peaked already. "Outside" was just a promo single here, I believe... The next US single looks to be "Pray To God".
