December 1, 201410 yr Author #26 Sia – Chandelier 2vjPBrBU-TM (UK Chart peak #6) Arrrgh, I hate to have this so low, but it’s gotten to the point in my top 40 where I really love the remaining songs. I think it’s unanimous that this is a fantastic song accompanied by a fantastic video. Everyone seems to love this (apart from Fearne Cotton, for whatever reason). Admittedly, I don’t love this as much as some of Sia’s previous efforts, ‘Breathe Me’ being an all-time favourite of mine. But Chandelier is still one of the defining hits of 2014, for me.
December 1, 201410 yr Ah Chandelier really is stunning, the chorus is absolutely huge. Hoping it goes down as a future classic now. Really didn't think I'd be into her solo stuff but it's all just so stunning, she has the perfect voice. I love Calvin's music so it's a shame to hear you're not a fab but glad to see you love Blame. I definitely think Summer and Outside are better but I agree with Pray To God being the best thing he's ever done. If it's not a single at some point then I'll be gutted.
December 1, 201410 yr Chandelier is a lot Better than I've given up credit for. It's missed the top 40 on me Eoy. but it's not far off it. After a shakey start it's had a seventeen week run only chart without going top 20.
December 1, 201410 yr Uptight downtown is amazing and the album deserved so much more  And even though I have just made this comment on about 3 other people's chart, this song deserves it and Chandelier is amazing and one of the best sung songs of the last few years
December 1, 201410 yr La Roux is my artist of the year. Visually, musically, lyrically, the album is superb. I agree it's superior to the debut (if that's what you're comparing it to in your comment). I'd say 'Uptight Downtown' isn't one of my favourite moments off it, but i do still love it. I needed a video too :(
December 1, 201410 yr & Chandelier speaks for itself. Will feature VERY highly when i get round to doing my own countdown~ to think, i found her annoying/virtually unlistenable this time last year, lol.

I needed a video too :( I know right. I remember watching the video Joe posted back in like July as I thought it was the official video and after about 3 minutes I realised like nothing had changed
December 1, 201410 yr Author Bal & Ultra - I saw her at Bestival in September performing the album - I got up close and right in her fierce grill and she was so captivating - not to mention one of the coolest women I've set my eyes on. Josh - I'm up and down with Calvin. Don't HATE him or anything. Sean - Marina is coming. Will she make the top ten?
December 1, 201410 yr hey Joe! nice countdown so far ^_^ #40 The Saturdays - What Are You Waiting For I do agree, this got old rather quick #39 One Direction - Steal My Girl #38 Beyonce - 7/11 This is pretty bad quality-wise, but it is so catchy that I can't resist listening to it #37 Shakira - Empire One of my many forgotten gems from earlier this year. Thanks for reminding me! #36 Hozier - Take Me To Church #35 Sigma - Nobody To Love yes yess YESSS  #34 Haim - If I Could Change Your Mind #33 Lorde - Team #32 Sam Smith - Money On My Mind #30 Calvin Harris Ft. John Newman - Blame #29 Tove Lo – Not On Drugs I really like this but it is still vastly inferior to the stunning 'Habits' #26 Sia – Chandelier
December 2, 201410 yr Author #25 The Vamps – Somebody To You 0go2nfVXFgA (UK Chart peak #4) It’s a shame this song broke The Vamps’ string of top 3 hits, because it’s their best single, by a clear mile for me. After unjustly throwing shade at the Vamps at the start of the year, they then released this and it soon became one of my most listened to songs of the year. I am strictly solo version only though. I love Demi, but her version doesn’t quite work for me and I hate how they’ve edited her into the video on what is clearly a beach 4000 miles away. I’m really glad she’s having fun putting her sheets out to dry at 2:28 though. If I get drunk enough to do Karaoke in the next year, this would be my song.
December 2, 201410 yr Author #24 Ben Howard – I Forget Where We Were TpeK3zvmx2c (UK Chart peak #54) Taken from one of the best albums of the year is the single of the same name ‘I Forgot Where We Were’. I loved Every Kingdom and felt I waited for his return for ages - and luckily it did not disappoint. Howard sings this with great passion and the lyrics are gorgeous. I’m really glad he released this as the lead single, because while I love the entire album, there aren’t really any other songs that I feel work as radio singles. ‘Conrad’ is another great song but this one is up there with ‘Only Love’ and ‘Keep Your Head Up’ for me. Ben Howard for ‘Best British male’ and ‘Best album’ at the Brits please.
December 2, 201410 yr Author #23 Katy Perry – This Is How We Do 7RMQksXpQSk (UK Chart peak #33) I’m sure lots of you will disagree with me here, but I really think this was one of Katy Perry’s best single choices of this era. I honestly think that if this was released instead of/before ‘Birthday’, and got the same airplay and support 'Birthday' did, it would have been a top 10. Unfortunately ‘Birthday’s half flop meant this song got minimal support. However, it did pretty well regardless, spending 3 weeks in the top 40 and getting some great streaming. Anyway, what’s done is done, this may be one of Katy Perry’s least successful singles, but for me it is still a massive jam. It came on when I was at a club in New York in September and the energy was fantastic. Let's not forget that no other music video this year brought us a twerking Sundae.
December 2, 201410 yr Author #22 The Veronicas – You Ruin Me W_rZ9rHFwGY (UK Chart peak #8) I'm so very glad that The Veronicas came back with a song that was some kind of hit over here. It's a shame that Radio 1/Capital didn't deem this brilliant ballad as relevant for their viewers, because I genuinely think they could have been number 1 with proper commercial support. This is an amazing song and I know a lot of Buzzjackers agree with me here. Thank god for Heart radio!
December 2, 201410 yr Author #21 Ella Henderson – Ghost tA8AfQaUnXM (UK Chart peak #1) JUST missing out on the top 20 is 'Ghost' which is the fourth and last 2014 UK number 1 on my chart (which is good because this year's number 1s were mostly mediocre). This is Ryan Tedder's best song, without a doubt since 'Bleeding Love', (though it doesn't come close to 'Bleeding Love', sorry). When I first heard this song I knew it would be as massive as it is. I don't know how many times I can say '"The chorus is massive", in my chart but it is really, really powerful. Hopefully the size of this hit doesn't hinder future success and Ella doesn't get branded a one hit wonder. Stay tuned, I have a a flawless Top 20 coming over the next 2 weeks. Edited December 2, 201410 yr by MistleJoe.
December 2, 201410 yr 'Chandelier' is sensational  My second fave of hers after 'Breathe Me', now <3
December 2, 201410 yr Some great songs in those last 5. Somebody to you is surprisingly great (but Demi version >>>) and you ruin me and ghost are 2 of my favourite songs this year. You ruin me is such a beautiful ballad and I am glad to have them back, thank god for heart radio. Ghost is just one of the most stunning debuts and a fantastic pop song Can't wait for the top 20
December 2, 201410 yr Hi Joe! My favourites so far: #40 The Saturdays – What Are You Waiting For? Too low! Poor flops. :snif: #39 One Direction – Steal My Girl #38 Beyonce – 7/11 *.* #37 Shakira – Empire #36 Hozier - Take Me To Church #35 Sigma – Nobody To Love  My favourite dance song this year! #34 Haim – If I Could Change Your Mind #33 Lorde – Team #32 Sam Smith - Money On My Mind Probably my least favourite of his singles thus far, but still quite good. #30 Calvin Harris Ft. John Newman - Blame Great, but I actually prefer the rather chastised 'Summer'! #26 Sia – Chandelier #25 The Vamps – Somebody To You Most definitely my favourite single by The Vamps so far, not even because of the inclusion of Demi. #23 Katy Perry – This Is How We Do I'd go as far as to say that this is her weakest up-tempo single to date. I like it, but imo there were better choices left on 'Prism'. :( #22 The Veronicas – You Ruin Me Stunning! I wish it had been more successful here. Top 10 was a wonderful result but it dropped so fast. :( #21 Ella Henderson – Ghost Incredible debut, from a pretty good album. A great 21-40 section! Looking forward to seeing what's in your Top 20! :D
December 2, 201410 yr Absolutely love #26 - #21, they are all probably in my top 50-100 tracks this year as well. So happy to have The Veronicas back, very happy for their success this year.
December 2, 201410 yr IFWWW was the perfect comeback single from Ben, really glad he pulled the comeback off and snatched the #1 album, I reckon this single is his best for me. Just stunning, his vocals as well  TIHWD was a great single choice in the end for Katy, was unsure at first but loved it at the end. Shame it didn't do big things chart wise or even in airplay. Hoping she can come back with something excellent like Roar for the next area, she's such a great live popstar too. Excited as heck for her superbowl performance !
