John Newman) (3-1-3-10-xx[3]-20-29-33-x) 7 weeks Here For You: a great dance tune from gorgon city, their best single for me. this should've been much bigger really! the 'aeeya' is euphoric  Let It Go: one of the most marmite tracks of the year which i love. was around at the time of my top 10 chart but didn't quite reach it hence there being no run for it. i think it works better in the context of the film but is still amazing on the radio. i love her vocals too. sorry dan! XO: yes you guessed it, another top 10 victim. a lovely booming track from beyonce now, not her best single ever but still lovely and her brits performance was gorgeous Turn Down For What: this is THE ultimate party tune, such a fun song to boogey too. i love how the drop changes each time too Blame: probably calvins weakest single this era but still fantastic, not a fan of john newman at all but he's actually really good on blame and the drop is very banging too ~ :music:
December 21, 201410 yr LET IT GO, LET IT GO    :cheer: :cheer: Definitely one of my favourite songs ever to exist so great to see it here  And Let It Go has spent more weeks in my top 20 than its position here (#52) in my personal chart :kink:
December 21, 201410 yr Let it go was another song that I wanted to hate but couldn't! Really was another guilty pleasure of mine :P

December 21, 201410 yr Great to see Sweater Weather in there! That took several months to grow on me but it seems to have been much more instant for everyone else. That's gotta be the highest anyone's placed Turn Down For What so far, so yay! Will be much higher on mine though :o
December 22, 201410 yr Author UV: oh my i didnt know you loved it as much as that *-* well i like it a lot too but probably 10000x less :P Regina: i don't know any of her other broadway stuff or anything like that but she has a fantastic voice from what i've heard. Neil: i think it's glorious, even if it is from a kids film :funky: Tim: yes tim! loving my top three album i see. ghetto mollie indeed. 'screech' is amazing though and not screechy at all!! Riser: Sweater Weather was so instant for me, a great indie track. Glad it was rather big in the US. TDFW is amazing, glad you love it too. I can see why a lot don't though.

Holding Onto Heaven - Foxes (3-4-7-10-13-11-22-27-37-42-x) 10 weeks 047. Don't - Ed Sheeran (45-xx[2]-43-17-4-9-46-x) 6 weeks 048. Shake It Off - Taylor Swift (10-11-37-32-45-xx[6]-37-x) 6 weeks 049. This Is How We Do - Katy Perry (33-40-31-8-2-1-5-25-36-x) 9 weeks 050. Real Love - Clean Bandit & Jess Glynne (10-11-28-23-10-5-5-2-7-12-8-19-....) 12 weeks (so far) Holding Onto Heaven: one for neil here, definitely my favourite foxes single, loved it ever since it was itunes free single of the week and never looked back. sad it wasn't top 10 for her officially but it was in my chart anyway if that's any consolation. Don't: one of ed's better singles for sure but i've always considered myself a fan anyway. he's very good at upbeat songs and this clearly illustrates this, should've been a lot bigger anyway but it does look odd sandwiched between the huge singles sing and thinking out loud. Shake It Off: another of ultraviolence's faves bowing out, sorry! my chart run certainly doesn't convey my love for this because it totally grew on me a lot more once i'd dropped it, much like chandelier. a lovely feel-good upbeat pop song and what's not to love? This Is How We Do: katy's fifth single from this era and probably the weakest but as represented by its high placing here, still amazing. at first i wasn't keen on this as a single at all and it floundered outside of my top 50 struggling to make it inside but then the video came and i fell in love. such an amazing video and really brought the track to life for me and even hitting #1 in my personal chart. Real Love: the best collaboration between these two artists next, i feel that this outshines rather be in every way possible for me. the vocals are amazing when jess belts out, the violins in the chorus are just so beautiful and the little noises in the production also elevate the track for me. just the whole package is this song
December 22, 201410 yr You're gonna give me a heart attack soon if some of my favourite songs ever keep appearing at this rate  SHAKE IT OFF    :cheer: :cheer: Definitely one of my favourite ever songs and is now my 2nd favourite Taylor song comfortably  It is so so amazing  Holding onto heaven is also stunning and Foxes bet song and the other 3 are all good  EDIT: Holding onto heaven was one of the free iTunes song. When how and why did I miss that :o :( Edited December 22, 201410 yr by Ultraviolence1989
December 22, 201410 yr Let It Go YASSSS. I criminally ignored it until i watched the film and had a Disney themed house party where, as you can imagine, that was the main song of choice :kink: 'XO' is my favourite of the recent bunches though. Stunning track and really deserved so much more :/ had everything going for it, so i'll never understand how it underperformed *cry*
December 22, 201410 yr Can y'all stop this Let It Go love? I already barfed on my keyboard once when I saw it appearing in the top 100, I ain't here for a 2nd time. It's horrific and deserves to die a fast and painful dead. Don't is the first Ed song I properly love and Shake It Off is just taylor continuing her pop domination *.* It's pure amazing, same for TIHWD altho one of the weaker tracks on PRISM
December 22, 201410 yr Author Ultraviolence: Blank space is my favourite taylor single by quite a way now i think but 22 is second for me. IKYWT, WANEGBT and SIO are all like joint third but probably in that order if I was forced. HOH is definitely her best single for me so glad you agree. LGFT and Youth are both lovely too with Glorious a little way behind, and yeah it was free song on iTunes oops at you maybe paying for it :P Liam: Yes! Let It Go is definitely one of the best childrens song in a long long time. Glad you're enjoying it! Haus: Haha sounds like good fun :P It works so much better in the context of the film too, love when she's slaying that final chorus while her twenty story ice castle is being erected yaaasss go girl. Was very happy when it was launched into the top 10 after her Brits performance but alas it was not meant to be :( Tim: erm tim the beast could neva. I've loved lots of Ed's stuff but this is definitely one of his career highlights. Shake It Off is fantastic but still probably one of the middle quality tracks on her album, such good quality! Thank you! Another batch is coming up because it's the holidays and I am bored as f*** .

Miley Cyrus, Wiz Khalifa & Juicy J) (N/A) 042. You & I - One Direction (39-47-47-42-40-48-45-48-47-x) 9 weeks 043. Only - Nicki Minaj (feat. Chris Brown, Lil Wayne & Drake) (3-1-8-18-30-38-40-22-.....) 8 weeks (so far) 044. Ugly Heart - G.R.L. (46-31-24-26-42-37-29-49-x) 8 weeks 045. Blame It On Me - George Ezra (34-18-12-8-13-32-x) 6 weeks 23: This was before I created my chart but OH MY GOD what an absolute jam this is. Miley's verse is just >>>> and all of the rappers do a fantastic job too. Excellent production and I love the video too. Why did this not smash so hard in the UK :( You & I: This is definitely my favourite One Direction single now, just a lovely ballad. Excellent video concept too which I think increased my love for the song and I think it was executed pretty well. As you can see this was a very slow burner for me spending 9 weeks between 39-50 *-* Love it a lot more than that peak suggests, especially when Steal My Girl and Night Changes both peaked top 20. Only: This wasn't really what I was expecting from Nicki really but it was really what I wanted, something to just showcase her urban hip-hop skills and rap some clever lyrics. The wordplay in her verse is just excellent and includes plenty of one-liners. The only bad thing about this song is lack of Nicki but really Drake and Lil Wayne really step up to the plate and deliver excellent rap verses too, and that hook by Chris is incredible too! Ugly Heart: This was a song I didn't get at all at first and didn't go back to it for ages but then once I did I loved it. As you can see it was another slow burner with an unjustified peak position which should be a lot higher. Surely, this is the perfect pop song. Incredibly catchy and a good video too, I love the 'behiiiind' in the verses *-* Blame It On Me: I was unsure if I could ever forgive this man for the abysmal Budapest but he completely redeemed himself with this. An excellent mid-tempo change for him with a fantastic video concept which I could watch on repeat and is quite funny at times watching his reaction when he realises a full rugby team are coming at him  Who can knock those vocals either, fantastic vocalist *-* Edited December 22, 201410 yr by jsanta
December 23, 201410 yr Ugh the variety here is amazing. A 1D ballad sandwiched between '23' and 'Only' is the kind of thing I live for  I had the same first impression with 'Ugly Heart', can't believe it was so off-putting at first! Like srsly how does a song do that.
December 23, 201410 yr I didn't get ugly heart till like my 5th listen so it grew quickly for me luckily. Definitely one of my favourite songs this year and the best girlband song this year, ugly heart is stunning :0
December 23, 201410 yr Author Riser: aha, it does look quite odd now you mention it  I've always been a fan of rap/R&B too, at the moment I'm enjoying Lifestyle and Hold You Down which I'm sure you know them both  Ugly Heart seemed so odd and a bit childish at first but oh my did it grow  Ultraviolence: Glad you love Ugly Heart, seems like a grower for everyone then, hope they come back with some as equally great. Thank you very much guys!

My Head Is A Jungle (MK remix) - Wankelmut (16-2-1-5-4-11-38-x) 7 weeks 037. Every Other Freckle - alt-j (8-10-16-16-21-20-20-32-47-x) 9 weeks 038. Summer - Calvin Harris (2-15-27-32-33-30-28-35-30-33-43-46-50-x) 13 weeks 039. Can't Remember To Forget You - Shakira (feat. Rihanna) (7-8-x) 2 weeks 040. High - Peking Duk (feat. Nicole Millar) (1-6-10-8-21-23-28-37-44-xx[25]-39-44-48-.....) 12 weeks (so far) My Head Is A Jungle: This chart run is definitely not reflective of my love for this song and definitely should've lasted longer in my chart :( This was just an addictive dance track which kept making me go back to it, the piano during the chorus is heavenly and I find the vocals really nice/unusual too. Every Other Freckle: I've always been a bit of a casual fan of alt-j and my previous favourite was Matilda. But I never knew that they were capable of something this amazing. The whole song is just flawless, the production is so good and it's just all a bit bonkers really. Those 'oooooh devour me' parts are sent from other-worldly beings surely. The 'I want every other freckle' repeated is lovely too near the end. Summer: This was just my absolute summer tune, I remember hearing it for the first time and hammering it again and again. Unfortunately it was stuck behind the monster tune Hideaway in my chart which is still to come but this is definitely one of the songs of the summer for me. I loved how it was accidentally released on iTunes early too so I could listen to it early too :heehee: Can't Remember To Forget You: Top 10 chart alert, luckily there will be none of this crap next year  This would definitely have peaked higher too if I started my chart earlier. Let's get started on how amazing Rihanna's verse is, I know this is Shakira's song but really this is ALL about Rihanna. That's not Shakira's fault though because she's also amazing on this song but Rihanna just blows everything away. Her verse is just amazing and I love how her accent comes out. Yeah, they work well as a team though and definitely one of my Q1 favourites. High: I can't really remember how I came about this as I wasn't in BJSC at the time but my oh my was it a discovery. I must have listened to it about 20 times in the first day which is a lot for me. Those synths in the drop are just so unusual and striking and it all works incredibly well. Nicole delivers on the vocals too. Hopefully this'll get radio support and smash like it deserves too, at least I'll be able to finally have it on my iPod anyway! December 23, 201410 yr Have been following this as well as your album countdown but I've just realised I haven't commented yet so sorry about that! Very much enjoying your year's highlights and the commentaries. It seems we share a lot of taste when it comes to underrated pop gems like 'Holding Onto Heaven', 'This Is How We Do' and 'Can't Remember To Forget You' :o. I'd completely forgotten about 'Sweater Weather' so cheers for the reminder there! *Listens* :music:
December 23, 201410 yr Ah Can't Remember To Forget You, the hit that never was I was so disappointed initianally, but it grew on me a lot later one Definately should've been a #1 hit in the UK to continue Rih's annual #1 streak
