Am I the only one who doesn't like this uptown funk rubbish? It's a lazy song which doesn't really go anywhere. I disliked fleurs version and I think the actual version is even worse! And I also think it's stupid that producers like mark ronson and calvin harris think that they can put their own name down as an artist when they've only produced the song. Sorry for the rant lol.

No you're definitely not the only one :) I don't think it's a bad song, I just don't seem to find it anywhere near as amazing as everyone else seems to. Having said that, I quite enjoyed Fleur's version of it but that was probably for the performance as a whole. Oh well, I guess we're just going to have to get used to the song though cos it's going to be EVERYWHERE over the next few months...

Newsbeat on radio 1 had a report on the Uptown Funk situation there!
It's not her song in the first place so she doesnt deserve to be no1 by doing a lazy cover. I also think the song would have done well anyway without her input.

Wouldn't call it lazy, it was a big performance and quite a risk. The first time a song has been performed that isn't out. And although it has big views on YouTube, Lily Allen pointed out on Twitter it wasn't getting AirPlay here.

Secondly, you might "think" it would have done well without her performance. However that's wrong. It's release was brought forward 5 weeks BECAUSE Fleurs cover was number 1 on iTunes.

Come on, it was clearly going to smash with or without her performance, anyone can see that  just look at the pre-orders and the hype for it!

Thats true, its premiere on UK radio was on the 12/11 i think as Zane Lowe had it as his Hottest Record and it was C listed on the radio 1 playlist last week. The video was getting rotation too moving into the video chart top 40 this week from the top 100. So there was SOME airplay but the XF brought it into the mainstream in a way peoplewouldnt have heard it much until the start of January!

I heard on the grapevyne that Sony wanted Capital to get on board before they released it, and they didn't want to start playing it until after the Jingle Bell Ball.
Union J at #13 in the Mids. Quite surprising, thought lower top 10

Big drop for them. That would have been more embarrassing if they had made no1 and dropped like that!

Mids are in, Band Aid are

It will be interesting to see where they end up in the sales chart and whether if they would have been the first act to drop to outside the top 20 from number 1. :o

What? Wasn't it released at midnight? How did it get any sale before?

It got released yesterday evening I think.

Wow, Band Aid must be selling loads of physicals - they're out of the top 15 on iTunes! And they'll only sell more as the week goes on, with Christmas shopping on Saturday. It'll be an interesting battle between Band Aid and Mark.

Martin, can you by any chance tell me if Leona is in the top 100?

Edited by MistleJoe.

I assume Uptown Funk should be safe for #1 with that iTunes lead, but I'm pretty surprised how well Band Aid are doing. Big Google Play impact for The Pogues I guess? I hope BO$$ holds well, probably no chance at keeping top 10 but still.

Take That looking for a safe third week in the top five with These Days :D Interesting to see The Pogues in the top 10! Wizzard top 40 *.*

Band Aid will be overtaken by Mark Ronson I guess, it's hard to tell how quickly it will fade though. That said, it's not exactly a spectacular figure considering Asda alone ordered 250,000 copies...oops. Roll on bargain bin January.
