Every December I do a radioshow on line on http://nearfm.ie/ with my friend Tony (who is actully called Tony - I am not)

I play some tracks that I liked from the year that didn't get played much and need a little exposure. It's sorta Mercury Prize-esque.

These were the short lists (and winners) for the previous years

Yeasayer - Madder Red

Crystal Castles - Celestica

Hot Chip - I Feel Better

Pallers - The Kiss

The National - Conversation 16

Gobble Gobble - Boring Horror

Joanna Newsom - '81

Caribou - Jamelia

Winner Yeasayer - Madder Red

(2nd Joanna Newsom - '81)

The Weeknd - High for This

Saint Savior - Red Sun

Other Lives - Tamer Animals

Active Child - High Priestess

Antlers - No Widows

Bat for Lashes - All Your Gold

SOHN - Oscillate

Burial - Kindred

Regina Spektor - All the Rowboats

The Irrepressible - Two Men in Love

Yeasayer - Fingers Never Bleed

Magnetic Fields - Andrew in Drag

Winner The Irrepressible - Two Men in Love

(2nd Burial - Kindred)

M83 feat. Susanne Sundfør - Oblivion

Foals - Inhaler

I think I've decided on my short list.

5 female singers

3 male singers

1 instrumentalist duo

no bands

"Inhaler" was released in 2012.

Also: Please not "Prince Johnny" - it pales in significance when compared with the far superior "Digital Witness". :(

"Inhaler" was released in 2012.

It came from a 2013 album so was eligible.

The criteria is anything from an album released that year or released to youtube/social media before a full release the following year.
