Radio 1, 2 and Capital all seem to be supporting 'Underneath The Tree' instead of 'One More Sleep'. It's great to hear either, but it's a bit odd. As much as I love UTT, I really want a NEW Christmas classic (and I feel like we need one, too!), so I'd prefer they targeted the song that was already top 80 on iTunes and spent two weeks in the top 3 last year, instead of the song that peaked at #30 and hasn't managed the top 200 on iTunes this year, yet.

 

 

Surely it doiesnt really matter about chart positions when it comes to this though as many xmas songs were never hits but are classics - see Waitresses, Chris Rea, Dean Martin etc

Ohh - it's good to see some fairly recent tracks get the 59p treatment. :D Hope 'Sky Full Of Stars' can benefit.

Radio 1 have played 'A Great Big Sled' quite a few times over the past week or so. Good to see one radio station remembers that they made some Christmas song, even if they insist on ignoring the new ones.

 

Speaking of Radio 1, has anyone heard the new Coldplay single on R1? They didn't playlist it last week, and there's not another playlist meeting for a week or so now. Could 'Miracles' be the first Coldplay single to get snubbed? :o

 

 

Yeh Fearne played it but then complained to her producer about The Killers xmas songs being not her fav and basically rubbish :rolleyes: . Wish Bones had more support - it came up on my ipod xmas songs yesterday and its sounds better every year :wub:

 

Just as we talk there is OMS by Leona on Scott Mills now :lol: As i said its top 50 at radio so there isnt much to worry about.

 

As for Miricles its from a soundtrack so not their new material or anything, although Im aware Atlas' got Alisted. Maybe they just gave it a miss this time!

Not really, I've heard them play Underneath The Tree a few times and more recently they've started playing It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas by Union J.

Capital played "Last Christmas" by Ariana Grande on repeat last Christmas.

The NI version doesnt play any on the first week of dec, a few last week and now a decent amount - the likes of Mud, Mariah, The Pogues & Paul Mc.

 

Radio 1 are playing all sorts The Killers, Greg Lake, The Pogues, Kelly Clarkson, Coldplay, Brenda Lee etc!

I'm not sure if there is a campaign but I know that he's a viral football supporter (vines of him are quite famous) so I'm not sure if it's just climbing because they made a song about it.

Good to see Kelly on a bit of a climb, everything else seems to be dipping/stalling, as mentioned earlier. Hopefully they all begin to rise again in the next couple of days, as Christmas draws closer. It would be nice to see Coldplay enter the top 100, given 'Christmas Lights' seems to be doing okay on streaming. Hopefully Leona can get a bit higher, too - for some reason her streaming is dire. Not sure if I should be including Sam Smith, as that is a cover.
