Really pleased how it seems to be going for Ben, its very early days but he seems to be received very well everywhere, single getting played a lot, I've seen loads of comments along the lines of "I don't normally like XF singles but..." and I have a feeling the figure at the end of the week might surprise. Like Pippa really looking forward to where he goes from here.

I am happy it is been received well, i know Sam Baileys Skyscrapper was not received as well as Ben has. Sam was not as popular a winner as Bens seems to be but Sam did ok with her single and album and i see no reason why Ben at the least wont match her album success. I hope Sam can go on to work with people that can prolong her success as like Ben she too seems a very down to earth person with talent.

No offence to Tedder & Co but this shits all over the original now. Unpopular opinion maybe but his voice fits this song perfectly and has more oomph to it than OR's.

Well I do feel a bit awkward saying that because I love OneRepublic usually haha.

I know it's subjective but I genuinely can't believe people would actually say this has more "oomph" to it than the 1R version! I know I'd never like it anyway but he sounds quite bored and lifeless to me, especially seeing as the machines have stripped him of any grit.

I get a good vibe about Ben in the long run. Or rather hopes from that. In interviews I've seen with him so far he gives off the same vibe Olly Murs did even when he was on the show - very grounded, likeable and the potential to be more brilliant than his early predictions are giving him credit for. Put short, not likely to turn against the show if it goes A over T (watch where my eyes rest James Arthur and Matt Cardle).

 

What he just needs to make sure of is that he gets good A&R and a producer who gets him and who is synonymous with him. Claude Kelly has been a part of most of Olly's biggest hits (he and Steve Robson are like his Xenomania/Guy Chambers) and Ben needs his equivalent.

 

I'd also say get a first single proper out in early to mid-summer, then second single then album in autumn.

This for me isn't as bad as the majority of those winner's singles, but you can still tell it was roughly thrown together in a matter of minutes and it sounds cheap.

Love that the chorus is nice and energetic it brings a change from the usual dreary X Factor ballad. I agree as above though it's very cheap and last minute ..
I like Ben, just not a fan of the whole X factor xmas dominance...but hey..decent song.
