It would probably be 'Youth' for me. These I really like: 142. Shakira feat Rihanna - Can't Remember to Forget You 143. Coldplay - A Sky Full of Stars 147. Calvin Harris feat John Newman - Blame 148. Foster the People - Coming of Age Another appearance from Lily with the very strange but mystical 'Sheezus'. It's a definite highlight from the album but it wouldn't have worked as a single. The chorus is full of pop culture references so I'm not sure what it will be like listening in a number of years time. Novelty one-hit wonder (or not if her lips are movin :music:) Meghan Trainor appears with a funky retro tune, 'All About That Bass' but its chorus lets it down slightly for me. Neon Jungle make their second and final appearance with 'Braveheart' which I said this about in last years EOY, 'their new track doesn’t really do that much for me'. With repeated listens, I really came to appreciate it although the rap lyrics are still questionable. They should have delivered more of this sound for their album, but it all kind of faltered after 'Welcome to the Jungle'. Two ones to watch in this countdown appear with their first entires, 'Wrong or Right' and 'Listen to the Man'. Coldplay made a very understated return this year and 'Magic' was the first single from this. It was nice to see them return to similar sounds of their early years but I did miss the 'Viva La Vida' and 'Mylo Xyloto' sounds that I prefer. 'Unmissable' is a really understated song that should have shined brighter than it did considering there were other songs on a similar-sound level that had a lot more success. 'BO$$' is one of the most addictive songs in this countdown for me. So bizarre in some of it's lyrics but yet so great. v catchy too. Kendrick Lamar returned with the Outkast sounding 'i' and it's got me hyped for his new album. Jacob Banks secured himself on the Radio 1 playlist earlier this year, and made a solo Live Lounge appearance, with 'Move With You'. It looked like he would gain solo success but alas this was not meant to be but it's still a great tune. The first of three (one appeared last year too~) sax-related dance songs 'One Day (Vandaag)' uses one of the greatest speeches of our time, forming a song that you can't help but move to. December 21, 201410 yr Author 101 - 120 MPipMQvKgKk 101. Chloe Howl - Disappointed 102. Klaxons - There is No Other Time 103. Azealia Banks - Chasing Time 104. Becky Hill - Losing 105. Rizzle Kicks - Tell Her 111. Shakira - Empire 112. NIHILS - Help Our Souls (Urban Contact Remix) 113. Ed Sheeran - Sing 114. Lana Del Rey - West Coast 115. Route 94 feat Jess Glynne - My Love 116. G.R.L. - Ugly Heart 117. Cash+David - Pulse 118. Kaiser Chiefs - Coming Home 119. Lily Allen - As Long As I Got You 120. Naughty Boy feat Sam Romans - Home Lily's best song this year was 'As Long As I Got You' which will now forever be used as the backdrop for TV programmes. It's so joyful and uplifting that it's hard to imagine the lyrics actually coming from Lily. Kaiser Chiefs had unexpected success this year, reaching Top 40 with 'Coming Home' and spending TWO low-selling weeks at No. 1! So welcome for them although still not up to the same standard of quality of the second album, although nothing will top that! G.R.L also had an unexpected smash (after the first week) with 'Ugly Heart' although it was a shame that Simone never saw it turn out to be so successful : (. I first loved 'My Love' last year when it was entered into BJSC and welcomed it smashing earlier this year. However, it has won the award for Most Overplayed Song for me now and I'm sick of hearing it which I'm sad about. Lana Del Rey made a very underwhelming return for me but I did grow to love 'West Coast' after a LOT of listens. After loving the debut so much, it's a shame that I have no motivation to listen to the second one. Ed Sheeran makes his first appearance here with 'Sing' which was a welcome change from his usual sound. However, his has had much stronger highlights this year. At 111 is a strange sight for me, a second Shakira song from the same era that not only have I heard, but I prefer! (I'm also aware of a third, 'Dare (La La La)', but that is terrible x) 'Empire' sounds different from a normal Shakira hit single but that's what makes it so good, I love the way it builds into the chorus. Rizzle Kicks released their best song, 'Tell Her' this year but it didn't last long in the charts, which was a same. v~ funky. Jennifer Lawrence singing and getting a chart hit in 'The Hanging Tree', what can't she do? It's so moving, especially in the context of the film and builds up to an explosive finale. Becky Hill will hopefully go on to achieve some solo success in 2015 but in the meantime we were treated to the glorious 'Losing', a beautiful melodic song. Has anyone had a more messy debut album campaign than Azealia Banks, not only in terms of release but also in terms of quality. It came to the point where I thought that I wouldn't like anything else from her than the 1991 EP. However, 'Chasing Time' proved me completely wrong and is what I WANT from her. Her as a person though... Klaxons teamed up with Gorgon City to create a great track in 'There Is No Other Time', I thought it might have been a big success but, alas, I was wrong. Finally, the last to miss the all important Top 100 is Chloe Howl and she expresses her disappointment in 'Disapointed'. I don't know where it went wrong for her this year, she created great pop tunes but the demand was not there. Edited December 30, 201410 yr by Uptown Froot
December 21, 201410 yr I loved Coming Home, I haven't cared about the Kaiser Chiefs for years but that definitely was a rekindling moment. I feel the same as you about Lana's new album - I did grow to West Coast but it really seemed like a whimper as a comeback single compared to how good Born to Die was as an album. Also I think Nirvana remains my favourite from Sam Smith, really nice song and one that expresses his vocals well - he has an amazing voice, shame his material wasn't really as good :( Enjoying this a lot so far!
December 21, 201410 yr Chloe deserved to be massive and disappointed is such a stunning song  Ugly heart is my favourite girlband song this year and as long as I got you is stunning and my 2nd favourite song from Sheezus (behind HOH) I'm not the only one is Sam's best song and great while I really like the hanging tree West Coast is definitely one of my favourite songs this year, Lana's vocals on it and the production are stunning  Amazing fantastic section Reindeer Froot

I'm glad 'Coming Home' managed to spark more interest in the band, shame 'Little Shocks' couldn't have done the same. It's still one of my favourites from them. I feel like the whole 'Ultraviolence' era felt very half-arsed from Lana unfortunately because, yes, I really loved the whole 'Born to Die' era! I've grown to love his material, not heard the album but I've like the three singles. (I've erased that Money song from my mind). Chloe deserved to be massive and disappointed is such a stunning song  Ugly heart is my favourite girlband song this year and as long as I got you is stunning and my 2nd favourite song from Sheezus (behind HOH) I'm not the only one is Sam's best song and great while I really like the hanging tree West Coast is definitely one of my favourite songs this year, Lana's vocals on it and the production are stunning  Amazing fantastic section Reindeer Froot  I don't know where it went wrong for Chloe, shame as I would have liked to hear the album. :( I agree with you about 'As Long As I Got You', that's my Top 2 too!
December 23, 201410 yr Author 91 - 100 DGIYXuZIWBY 91. Nothing But Thieves - Graveyard Whistling 92. A Great Big World feat Christina Aguilera - Say Something 93. Olly Murs feat Demi Lovato - Up 94. Duke Dumont - Won't Look Back 95. Chris Malinchak feat MNEK - Happiness 96. Katy B - Next Thing 97. Wretch 32 - 6 Words 98. Iggy Azalea feat Rita Ora - Black Widow 99. Charli XCX - Boom Clap 100. Ed Thomas - Hurt 'Hurt' is one of my favourite BJSC entries that I've sent but I think it gave me my worst ever result oops. Charli XCX finally got the solo hit that it looked like she would never receive with ’Boom Clap’! However, I’m not sure if this success will go beyond this, at least not with this era. ‘Dark Horse’ wannabe ’Black Widow’ appears next but doesn’t quite meet the standards of either that or its predecessor ‘Fancy’ (second mention in a row woo) but still v~ good. I’d feared that Wretch 32 had disappeared forever but he managed to reclaim chart success with ’6 Words’ which I’m thankful for as it means we’re one step closer to hearing that album of his which hopefully still features ‘Blackout’ and ‘Doing OK’. ’Next Thing’ was a track I initially overlooked when listening to ‘Little Red’ but I’m thankful I rediscovered it as it’s become one of my favourite non-single highlights. I think ’Happiness’ is being released next year but it’s been around for so long that I’m putting it in this year! It’s Chris’ best single since ‘So Good to Me’ and MNEK’s vocals work so well on the soothing track. King of holding back releases is Duke Dumont but it didn’t work in his favour with ’Won’t Look Back’. It is the worst of his three singles but it’s still a glorious highlight amongst this year’s dance-dominated hits. One of my favourite Olly singles already, ’Up’ features the vocals of Demi Lovato and I’m always a sucker for male and female duets which is seen in ’Say Something’ which features next. It may have been shoved down our throats through various TV shows but it is still a beautiful song nonetheless. It shocking purely for the fact that Christina doesn’t oversing! One of my favourite BJSC entries this year was ’Graveyard Whistling’ by Nothing But Thieves who look set to have the potential to go onto big things next year. I’m also a sucker for songs that build and build which is exactly what this song does. Edited December 30, 201410 yr by Uptown Froot
December 23, 201410 yr Just catching up, from that section my fave is 'Happiness', it appears to have done nothing chart-wise though (if it's even been released? so behind oops). MNEK's vocal contributions are always class. <3

December 24, 201410 yr Author 81 - 90 WSrktmE963I 81. Paloma Faith - Only Love Can Hurt Like This 82. Klingande - Jubel 83. Osca - Blood 84. Julio Bashmore feat Jessie Ware - Peppermint 85. Indiana - Solo Dancing 86. Lorde - Yellow Flicker Beat 87. Katy B - Everything 88. Idina Menzel - Let It Go 89. Little Mix - Salute 90. Thumpers - Unkinder (A Tougher Love) ’Unkinder (A Tougher Love)’ was a random discovery which I kept hearing when trying to find BJSC entries and soon became a favourite of mine. ’Salute’ contains one of the best intros of the year with the siren and horn leading into the chanting and self-empowerment message that Little Mix are conveying. A unique entry is at 88 with the iconique ’Let It Go’ the song that will NEVER let it go and we hope it never does. Business companies also refuse to let the film that it comes from go. The award for my favourite non-single ‘Little Red’ song goes to ’Everything’ which should have been a single after ‘Crying for No Reason’ and THEN ‘Still’ should have closed off the campaign. Another Hunger Games highlight is at 86 with the glorious ‘Yellow Flicker Beat’ which hit me once I heard it over the credits. Although, the less I see her performing it, the better. I discovered (and loved) ’Solo Dancing’ in my favourite contest of BJSC this year and so I’m glad that it went on to become a hit. I weirdly love the video as well. One of the most apt titles of the year is ’Peppermint’ which is fresh and the chanting in the background sounds like I have actually taken a mint. Another song that I discovered when locating possible BJSC entries is the glorious ’Blood’ and is another song that builds throughout. One of my songs of the summer, despite first loving it in BJSC last year, is ’Jubel’ which actually never charted in my weekly chart for some reason. Neither did ’Only Love Can Hurt Like This’ which possibly suggests my chart is useless in predicting my year-end faves (or is it…). In my defence, it’s because I was aware of both these songs over a long period of time and so my love for them didn’t explode all at once so I forgot to include them in my chart :kink: Edited December 30, 201410 yr by Uptown Froot
